Abstract

Abstract

Coral reefs are marine ecosystem that provide homes at less 25% of all marine species. In the last decade, the use of Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) methods for coral reef monitoring has gained increased popularity. This study aimed to monitoring of coral reef condition at Dua Island, Tikus Island, Belanda Island, and Dapur Island. This study used Coral Point Count with Excel extensions (CPCe) software, to increase the efficiency of coral reef monitoring efforts. Photo transects were conducted by scuba diving. Coral reef community image was capture for every 1m across 50m transect line. A total of 30 random point samples was selected for each photo frame. Multiple photo frame were combine  and for each point coded according to the code of each category, biota, and substrate at the random point. The results showed that the condition of the coral reefs in Bengkulu was in the fair to good category, while the condition of the coral reefs in the Seribu Islands was in the poor to fair category. The most common coral genera found in Bengkulu are Porites and Pocillopora, while in the Seribu Islands are Porites and Acropora.

Abstract

The study of birdsong has received relatively limited attention in the field of artificial intelligence, despite its long-standing intrigue and the question of whether birds possess a form of language. Previous research has provided evidence suggesting the presence of structurally organized words recognized by birds, such as the strong reactions observed in Japanese tits and Pied babblers when exposed to specific sequences of artificially played calls. Altering the speed of a sequence also influences the birds' responses, further supporting the existence of organized linguistic units in avian vocalizations. In this study, we propose a novel approach for analyzing birdsong by employing automatic syllable segmentation and syllabic similarity analysis. Our focus is on the Jalak Suren species (Sturnus contra), renowned for its melodious song. Through the identification and categorization of distinct syllabic units in birdsong recordings, we investigate the statistical occurrence of these syllables within the sequence of birdsong. Our findings reveal remarkable similarities between the statistical occurrence of syllables in birdsong and those found in human language passages

Abstract

The Tangut script, a lesser-explored dead script comprising numerous characters, has received limited attention in deep learning research, particularly in the field of optical character recognition (OCR). Existing OCR studies primarily focus on widely-used characters like Chinese characters and employ deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) or combinations with recurrent neural networks (RNNs) to enhance accuracy in character recognition. In contrast, this study takes a counterintuitive approach to develop an OCR model specifically for the Tangut script. We utilize shorter layers with slimmer filters using a depthwise separable convolutional neural network (DSCNN) architecture. Furthermore, we preprocess the dataset using a frequency-based transformation, namely the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). The results demonstrate successful training of the model, showcasing faster convergence and higher accuracy compared to traditional deep neural networks commonly used in OCR applications.

Abstract

Kaur Regency has a very good opportunity to boost regional competitiveness both at the regional and national levels, especially for a number of goods that have competitiveness in the tourism industry. The purpose of this research is to learn more about the training offered by the Office of Tourism and Creative Economy to tourism industry players in Laguna Beach. A descriptive approach is used in this qualitative research. Using observation, documentation, and interviews as data collection methods. To obtain sufficient data, information is collected from various sources. This information is then examined qualitatively and explained using words and phrases. The data analysis method used is data reduction, data visualization, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this study indicate that the training-based empowerment plan for Laguna Beach tourism business actors has been going quite well. This can be seen from the fact that business actors are given the necessary skills to manage beach tourism properly and effectively.

Abstract

The musical composition "Papatean" is based on the story of the murder of the first missionary in Toraja, namely A. A. van de Loodstrech (called Anton) in 1917. Studying history is certainly important because it is full of valuesfor a better future. After Anton's death, the growth of the congregation in the Toraja Church continued to improve, until it spread internationally. Apart from that, the creation of this musical work aims to remember and appreciate the struggle and dedication of Anton and his wife, who have given their entire lives to God and the Toraja people. Their arrival brought the Gospel as well as the beginning of education in Toraja. The theory used in producing this work is about musical composition, musical harmony, instruments, and program music including narratives, vocals, and scales. The musical instruments used are the Lembang Flute, Piano, Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Contrabass, Floor, Cymbals, Chimes, and Vocals. The method used is the creation method, with several stages, namely (1) Data collection stage (2) Idea stage (3) Exploration stage (4) Implementation stage (5) Formation stage. The work "Papatean" was worked on in three parts, namely part I: Petamba (A, B), part II: Sitiro Lindo (A, B), and part III: Papatean (A, B, C, D).

Abstract

Cuneiform has been a widely used writing system in one of the human history phases. Although there are millions of tablets, have been excavated today, only around 100,000 tablets have been read. The difficulty in translating also increased if the tablet has damaged areas resulting in some of its characters become fragmented and hard to read. This paper investigates the possibility of reading fragmented cuneiform characters from Noto Sans Cuneiform font based on convolutional neural network (CNN). The dataset is built on extracted 921 characters from the font. These characters are then intentionally being damaged with specific patterns, resulting set of fragmented characters ready to be trained. The model produced by this training phase then being used to read the unseen fragmented pattern of cuneiform sets. The model also being tested for reading normal characters set. From the simulation, 83.86% accuracy of reading fragmented characters are obtained. Interestingly, 96.42% accuracy is obtained while the model is being tested for reading normal characters.
