Abstract

Leverage is a method used by companies to increase their earnings by taking risk in debt, level of fixed asset, and the combination of both. Those methods can affect company’s profitability due to the risk they taken by applying this method. The greater risk company take by using leverage, their expected return should also be greater. The purpose of this research is to create comparison about leverage usage in sample companies and to analyze is there any difference in the profitability of the food and beverage companies after they applied financial leverage, operating leverage, and total leverage to maximize profit. This research used quantitative analysis by one-way Anova. Samples are the six public companies listed in Indonesian Stock Exchange and classified in Indonesia’s food and beverage processing industry. The conclusion is Indofood Sukses Makmur applied highest financial leverage and Charoen Pokphand Indonesia applied highest operating and total leverage. One-way Anova was conducted for financial, operating, and total leverage but shows no significant difference between the sample companies. Although leverage exists and used by company, it is not strong enough to affect company profitability. The management of company should maximize leverage in order to maximize their profit as well.   Keywords: financial leverage, operating leverage, total leverage, profitability

Abstract

Setiap organisasi, baik itu pemerintah maupun organisasi swasta berusaha meningkatkan kinerja pegawainya agar lebih terampil dan berkompetensi tinggi didalam bidangnya, termasuk dengan cara memberikan pendidikan dan pelatihan yang sesuai dengan bidang pegawai tersebut. Penempatan kerja juga menjadi salah satu faktor penting yang mempengaruhi kinerja pegawai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan, pelatihan dan penempatan kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai kantor Inspektorat kota Manado. Populasi penelitian seluruh pegawai kantor Inspektorat kota Manado berjumlah 44 orang dan semuanya dijadikan sampel. Metode analisis yang digunakan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  pendidikan, pelatihan dan penempatan kerja baik secara simultan maupun parsial mempunyai pengaruh terhadap kinerja pegawai, sehingga hipotesis yang diajukan dapat diterima. Pimpinan kantor Inspektorat kota Manado sebaiknya mempertahankan dan mengembangkan pendidikan dan pelatihan yang telah dilaksanakan setiap tahunnya dan juga memperhatikan penempatan kerja untuk meningkatkan kinerja pegawai dalam pelaksanaan tugasnya. Kata kunci: pendidikan, pelatihan, penempatan kerja, kinerja pegawai.

Abstract

Today, woman in Indonesia their role as a housewife has been divided with role as an employee to meet the family needs because of unfavorable economic conditions. However having to simultaneously act for two roles is not easy. This situation will result in a very significant achievement for business establishments, which is affected their performance in the office. This study aimed to determine the influence of role as a housewife and role as an employee to the employee performance as a civil servant in the level of government Tomohon. This research used quantitative method. The analytical method used was multiple linear regression analysis. The data used in this research is primary data obtain through the questionnaire. The population observed is the married woman in the level of government Tomohon with sample as many as 100 respondents. Result of the analysis showed that both role as a housewife and role as an employee has a significant influence to the Employee Performance as a civil servant in the level of government Tomohon. The Tomohon city government’s still consider the dual role of career woman and still maintain the performance of employees especially career women who have a family in order to keep balance between their work in the office with their obligations at home as a housewife, and with regard to their discipline in work. Abstract

House is one of the important things in human life. Home is where human beings to live, stay, and shelter. Nowadays in North Sulawesi province, especially in particular in the city of Manado, many estates were built. And the most preferred by the people of Manado to buy a house is Griya Paniki Indah. This study aims to analyze the factors that drive consumer purchasing decisions in the house at Griya Paniki Indah Manado. In this study, the population is people who buy a house or are already living in Griya Paniki Indah Manado, with a sample 100 respondents. The method used in this research is a quantitative method by spread the questionnaires to obtain primary data. In this study the results and conclusions found to explain that there are seventeen variables that drive consumers house purchase decision, which then formed the seven factors and there are three variables that do not significantly influence the purchasing decisions in Griya Paniki Indah Manado. The seven factors are customer needs, service level, marketing stimuli, customer satisfaction, word of mouth, views and roads, and personal life. Three variables were not significantly influence the purchasing decisions in Griya Paniki Indah Manado is affordability, maintenance, and affluence. Keywords: consumer purchasing decision

Abstract

E-banking merupakan fasilitas transaksi perbankan yang dilakukan secara elektronik tanpa perlu datang lagi ke bank. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh kualitas pelayanan dan citra merek terhadap kepercayaan konsumen pengguna kartu debit Taplus di BNI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan asosiatif, dengan tekhnik analisis regresi linear berganda, korelasi berganda, dan koefisien determinasi. Alat uji hipotesis yang digunakan yaitu uji F dan uji t. Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 responden sebagai sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan secara simultan dan parsial kualitas pelayanan dan citra merek berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan terhadap kepercayaan nasabah pengguna kartu Taplus BNI Cabang Utama Manado. Bagi pihak manajemen BNI Cabang Utama Manado, sebaiknya memperhatikan kualitas pelayanan, mengingat koefisien regresi kualitas pelayanan dalam pikiran konsumen Pengguna kartu debit Taplus BNI lebih rendah. Hal ini dapat dilakukan misalnya dengan cara lebih meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan produk yang ditawarkan, untuk meningkatkan minat pengguna kartu debit Taplus BNI dalam bertransaksi.  Kata kunci: kualitas pelayanan, citra merek, kepercayaan

Abstract

The successfulness of a firm is not just determined by its financial metrics. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) lately becomes one major concern in businesses which are indicating whether the company goes well or not. CSR program is the major concern that will be elaborate in this research. The aim of this research is to know if CSR programs of BRI branch Manado impact its customer loyalty and what are the factors that influence. This study is conducted by quantitative technique with associative type of research. Populations in this research are exactly the customers of BRI in Manado. Total of 100 respondents are being sampled. Purposive sampling is used in this research. CSR and customer loyalty theories are the supporting theories in this research. The result shows that CSR significantly impact customer loyalty through three factors that linked between these two variables. BRI management suggested that to develop CSR programs in order to maximizing profit by gaining greater customer loyalty, and also help to improve societal well-being. Abstract

Abstrak: Setiap organisasi selalu berusaha untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan sumber daya manusia dalam melaksanakan tugasnya secara efisien dan efektif sehingga mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan. Keberhasilan organisasi dalam mencapai tujuannya sangat tergantung pada prestasi kerja yang dicapai oleh setiap pegawai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lingkungan kerja, stres kerja dan disiplin kerja terhadap prestasi kerja pegawai BPBD Provinsi Sulawesi Utara (Sulut). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah asosiatif. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 80 pegawai dan diambil 67 responden sebagai sampel berdasarkan metode simple random sampling. Alat analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lingkungan kerja, stres kerja, dan disiplin kerja secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap prestasi kerja. Stres kerja secara parsial tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap prestasi kerja sedangkan lingkungan kerja dan disiplin kerja secara parsial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap prestasi kerja pegawai BPBD Sulut. Bagi pimpinan BPBD Sulut sebaiknya memperhatikan lingkungan kerja dan disiplin kerja agar prestasi kerja pegawai menjadi lebih baik. Abstract

The growth of Mobile Instant Messaging (MIM) applications in Indonesia has become a prevalent phenomenon as it gradually has replaced the existence of traditional messaging tools such as SMS. With the emergence of these mobile instant messaging applications, consumers are inundated with choices as to which application should they install on their phones. Therefore, User loyalty is crucial to the survival of MIM application providers. Population of this research is users of MIM applications and/or people who are aware of the development of MIM applications in Manado, under the age of 30. This research employs exploratory method on qualitative research and interview as the tool to collect all data and information with informant as many as 6 informants. The internal factors i.e.: speed of loading, public image, loyalty program, intriguing features, user-friendly, price-friendly, post-installation care, and qualified product. The external factors i.e.: existence of a community, mobile internet network quality, ubiquitous connectedness, age group, and peer influence. This research suggests MIM providers to improve user loyalty by putting the same amount of effort into the advancement of both internal and external factors, as the MIM industry is highly dependent on the external factors as the findings suggested.   Keywords: user loyalty, MIM application

Abstract

Today, luxury consumption has become so popular, everyone aspire for luxury, particularly in fashion. Recently young consumers consumption`s pattern is not only to satisfy basic physiological needs but also to create a self and define one’s role in society. One of the most interesting aspects of consumption is luxury consumption which is not vital for young consumer’s survival but they are engaging in the consumption of luxury products. This research aims to analyze (1) what is the influence of social factors (reference group, family, roles and status) on young consumer behavior towards purchase intention of luxury fashion brand; (2) to identify which factors of social factors that has the most significant influence on young consumer behavior towards purchase intention of luxury fashion brand. The research method that used in this research associative with multiple linear regression analysis technique, as sample of the research 100 respondent  taken from people in Manado as young consumers. The findings revealed that reference groups, family, and roles & status have a significant effect to the young consumer purchase intention on luxury fashion brands. Young people with their uniqueness wants to get the attention of the people around them, they wants other people to like the luxury fashion goods they buy. Company or shop should improve the prestige of their product increase their product image. Keywords: reference group, family, roles and status, purchase intention

Abstract

Nowadays, in the complex and rapidly changing environment, innovation plays a critical role in enabling a firm to obtain a sustainable competitive advantage. While it is often happen that the desired competitive strategy/Human Resource Policy(which is planned in the corporate level of organization) is not met with the actual Human Resource practice at the operational level of organization. This problem can leads to the failure in achieving the intended organizational performance/a sustainable competitive advantage. The research objective is to analyze the role of knowledge management activities in affecting the implementation of human resource policy to become the desired human resource practice. This research uses qualitative approach and descriptive method. The population of this research is the management of University of Canterbury and the sample is an interview with Mr. Paul O’Flaherty as University of Canterbury’s Human Resource Director. The result shows that the knowledge management activities, such as employee participation, play a critical role in enabling the University of Canterbury to obtain their desired competitive strategy/desired human resource practice.
