Abstract

This study aims to examine the psychometric properties of a processing speed ability test constructed based on the Cattel-Horn-Carroll theory. According to Cattel-Horn-Carroll theory, processing speed ability is the ability that supports general intelligence. It has a significant effect on general intelligence (about 0.7). There are three narrow abilities of processing speed ability (i.e. perceptual speed, number facility and rate of test taking). 299 items of three narrow abilities were composed and trialed on 137 people. Data was analyzed using ITEMAN to select items and to estimate test reliability. Result shows that the tests under investigation have sufficient psychometric properties and adequate reliability.

Abstract

Children with attention deficit and hiperactivity have difficulty to concentrate, wich is needed in the learning process. in order to optimalized the process of learning at school and home, researcher modificated the way of learning and environment. Result show that there's increased attention in three weeks of intervention and evaluation. This result could calculated from the increased of attention baseline time in third weeks of attention when learning (1,58 minutes), when make an attention to the material (1,5 minutes), and when doing the material or work of learning (2,9 minutes). Results show, modification in the way of learning and environment have a positive contribution to increase subject's attention of learning process at school and home.Key words: attention, modification in the way of learning and environment

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the validity of the Fluid Intelligence Test, constructed based on the Cattel-Horn-Carroll theory. There were two sources of validity used in this study, which were evidence based on the internal structure and evidence based on relation with other variables. Sixty-four items have been composed and tested to 242 people. The data was analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis technique and correlations technique to examine test validity. The result of this study showed that the prepared model worked quite well in describing the narrow abilities of fluid intelligence, as showed by the receipt of fit indexes accuracy of the model, such as Chi-Square value .42 (p = .518), Goodness Fit Index (GFI) = 1, and Rooted Mean Square Error (RMSEA) = .00. Similar result was also showed by its correlation with other variables, which are .717 (TIKI) and .606 (CFIT). This suggested that Fluid Intelligence Test has good validity.

Abstract

Abstract

Professional learning can help teachers to develop their knowledge and abilities to support their functions and roles as educators. However, studies show that most teachers in Indonesia have not been involved in continuing professional development. This study aims to describe the professional learning program that has been attended by elementary school teachers in Indonesia regarding classroom behavior management. The results of this study indicate that only some of the teacher participants stated that they had participated in a professional learning program on managing student behavior in the classroom. Organizers of the professional learning programs attended by teachers include the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, schools, universities, and other community members. Participants also shared about the benefits of these activities in managing student behavior in the classroom. The results of this study suggest the importance of implementing more professional learning programs that focus on managing student behavior in the classroom, which are designed effectively to have a direct impact on behavior management practices carried out by teachers in the classroom

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain themes and constructs to develop modules and training curricula for cadres for the detection of depression in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in Surabaya, Indonesia. The Delphi method through three stages was applied: i) searching for academic and non-academic references; ii) compiling themes and constructs based on the findings of the first phase and distributing them to expert panel; and iii) concluding a consensus according to the guidelines. The panel approved two training objectives, five training materials, six training methods, two training time, two training duration, two training evaluation method, and six trainer qualifications. The findings can be the basis for developing modules and curricula to detect maternal depression in pregnant and breastfeeding women for cadres in Indonesia.

Abstract

Student integration is a student’s ability to integrate into the social and academic systems of the university. Integration of students has been shown to affect how well they do on campus, which helps them finish higher education. The integration scale (IS) measures integration ability that meets the principle of simplicity. The integration scale is formed of 16 items divided into five aspects and two factors. This study aimed to adapt and validate IS instruments for the Indonesian university student population. The research methods complied with the six-step procedures the International Test Commission set out. A total of 309 participants were undergraduate students. They were between 17 and 23 years old (mean=19.42, SD=1.11 years), with 247 females (79.94%) and 62 males (20.06%). The results of the confirmatory factor analysis revealed that a total of 16 items were valid and reliable. Three models that have acceptable fits were confirmed. The results demonstrate that the Indonesian integration scale measures undergraduate student integration with comparable precision to the original scale. This scale can identify students who require academic and social integration assistance and evaluate the institution’s role in academic development.
