Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses students' perceptions of the implementation of the extensive reading method in learning Japanese language. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. This research takes place at the Japanese Language Education Study Program, FKIP, Riau University. The source of data in this study is a questionnaire. The number of respondents in this study were students who took the tadoku 2 course, totaling 28 students. The data analysis technique used a Likert scale measurement. The results of the analysis of the data obtained in this study are in the implementation of the extensive reading method there are benefits and obstacles felt by students during learning. From the benefits obtained by students in implementing the extensive reading method, there are aspects of motivation, general knowledge, grammatical knowledge, and independence. Meanwhile, the obstacles experienced by students in implementing extensive reading are in terms of understanding, independence, and the environment.Key Words: Perception, Extensive Reading

Abstract

Abstract: During the current covid-19 pandemic, teaching and learning activities turned into online learning. But online learning is experiencing many obstacles. Inadequate infrastructure and learning goals that are not conveyed properly are one of the obstacles felt by lecturers and students.The aim of the study was to find out how students perceive online grammar learning using descriptive quantitative approach methods.Data collection in this study used non-tests in the form of kuisoner with 68 respondents as the population.From this study obtained the results that the perception of students to the aspect of planning is in the good category with a percentage of 79.5%, the implementation aspect is in the good category with a percentage of 70.0% and the evaluation aspect is in the category of less good with a percentage of 66.3%.Key Words : Perception, Grammar, Online Learning.

Abstract

Abstract: The study aimed to find out how metacognitive strategies are used and see if there are differences in the use of metacognitive strategies between the three forces. This research uses descriptive methods with quantitative approaches. Respondents in this study were 98 students in the class of 2020, 2019 and 2018 of FKIP Japanese language education at Riau University. The results showed that all indicators of metacognitive strategies belonged to the high category with an average value (3.53). Based on the results of the one way anova test there is a difference in the use of metacognitive strategies between the 2020, 2019 and 2018 forces. Judging from the three metacognitive strategy indicators, it is known that the 2020 force uses its metacognitive strategy better than the 2019 and 2018 forces. Then the use of the 2019 class metacognitive strategy is better than the 2018 force.Key Words: Use of Metacognitive Strategies

Abstract

Abstract: Te iru is one aspect of Japanese. This research discusses the usage of te iru aspects in the sakubun of 2019 college students Japanese Language Education Study Program of Teachers Training and Education Faculty Riau University. The purpose of this study is to find out how usage te iru in sakubun of 2019 college students. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive by observing sakubun documentation from 8 students. The results showed that usage of te iru in progressive and resultive aspects was not very visible because that aspect's situation, meanwhile the usage of te iru appeared in the habituative aspect but college students did not use te iru in the sakubun.Key Words: Usage, Aspect, Te Iru, Sakubun

Abstract

Abstract: The use of smartphone applications as a supporting medium for learning kanji can help Japanese learners overcome difficulties when learning kanji. The purpose of this study was to describe the use of smartphone applications as a medium to support kanji learning and to describe the correlation between the use of smartphone applications as a medium to support kanji learning and the final grades of the kanji subjects for Japanese Language Study Program students, Faculty of Teachers Training and Education Riau University. The method used was descriptive quantitative method. The data shows that students use a type of digital dictionary application, especially in the reading feature kanji. Most students use this application for the purposes of doing class assignments and looking for the meaning of kanji vocabulary when reading / hearing something within 1 hour or less than 1 hour. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it was found that the use of a smartphone application as a supporting medium for kanji learning had a positive effect on kanji learning outcomes of students.Key Words: Smartphone aplication, learning outcomes, kanji, learning support media

Abstract

Abstract: This research discusses about politeness scale in drama Great Teacher Onizuka 2012. The purpose of this research is to find out how the politeness scale of the main character's speech in that drama. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. The data is obtained by listening to the conversations spoken by the main character. Then the speech which has a politeness scale is recorded and marked. The results of this study indicate that in drama Great Teacher Onizuka 2012, the main character uses five kinds of Leech’s politeness scales, cost-benefit scale, optionality scale, indirectness scale, authority scale and social distance scale. On the five scales, the scale that often appears is indirectness scale and the scale that appears the least is authority scale.Key Words: Leech’s politeness scale, speech, Great Teacher Onizuka, Japanese Drama

Abstract

Abstract: This study discussed error analysis on the comprehension of „kamoshirenai‟ and „darou‟ in Japanese Literature Study student batch 2018 in Riau University. The objective of this study is to examine the understanding of „kamoshirenai‟ and „darou‟ among students, as well as to detect the causal factor of its error in the comprehension of „kamoshirenai‟ and „darou‟. This research uses descriptive-quantitative as the basis for its method. Data collection was obtained by giving online questionnaires and quiz tests. The result indicates there are some errors in the etymology and context of „kamoshirenai‟ and „darou‟. Etymology error include the error in the adjective of „na-keiyoushi‟, „i-keiyoushi‟, verb, and noun. Meanwhile, error in the context includes sentences, adverbial, figurative impression and appropriation, possibility, and confirmation context. The causal factor on this comprehension of „kamoshirenai‟ and „darou‟ are specified into internal and external factors.Key Words: Error Analysis, „Kamoshirenai‟, „Darou‟, Japanese Modalities.

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the types of categories metaphors contained in the lyrics of Enka Song. The purpose of this study is to determine the type of category metaphors on the lyrics of Enka Song. This is quantitative study with descriptive method. The result of study found fifteen types of metaphor anthropormic, animal, and from concert to abstract. Abstract

Abstract: This study focuses on analyzing flouting of conversational principle conversational maxim in anime Back Street Girl’s Gokudolls. This study is aimed to describe types of Grice’s conversational maxims frequently floated in anime Back Street Girl’s Gokudolls to describe the implicature of the floats of the maxims. The writer employs descriptive qualitative approarch to reach and conclude the research findings in this study. In analyze the writer refers to Grice’s cooperative principle theory, and means-ends analysis by Geoffrey Leech. The data was obtained by listening to the conversations spoken by the characters in the anime Back Street Girl's Gokudolls. Then the speech that flouting the maxims and cause implicatures are recorded and marked. The results of this study indicate that the characters in the anime Back Street Girl's Gokudolls flouting the four maxims of cooperation, maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner. Of the four maxims, the most flouting are in the maxim manner and the least is the flouting of the maxim of quantity.Key Word: Implicature, Cooperative Principle, Back Street Girl’s Gokudolls, Anime

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine student perceptions of student attitudes in the implementation of dokkai using zoom cloud meetings. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The study population was all students of Japanese Language Education FKIP Riau University Class of 2019 with a research sample of 34 people. The data analysis technique used a 5-point Likert scale. From the results of the research using a questionnaire, it was found that the indicators of student attitudes in the implementation of dokkai categorized as quite positive interpretations because they were at the interval limit of 2.61-3.40. For indicators of student attitudes, there are 5 statement items regarding student ethics, when student lectures come on, a conducive learning environment, students prepare before lectures, and student responses when the lecturer asks.Key Word: Perception, Student Attitude, Dokkai Learning
