Abstract

Abstract: This research is classroom action research that aims to improve learning process and to increase mathematics achievement with applied the learning model of Problem Based Learning. The subject of this research is student of class VII8 SMPN 14 Pekanbaru in academic years 2017/2018, which amounted to 35 students, consist of 17 boys and 18 girls. The research consist of two cycles, each cycle has four stages, which are planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instrument of data collection in this research consist of observation sheet and assessment sheet. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of observation techniques and test results of mathematics learning techniques. The analysis technique used is descriptive descriptive data analysis technique and descriptive statistical data analysis. Data obtained from the observation sheet is qualitative data and analyzed by descriptive quantitative analysis technique. Data obtained from the learning result test were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis technique. The result of data analysis show teacher’s and student’s activity have been done very well in cycle II and weakness/deficiency that happened less from cycle I to cycle II. Implementation of PBL model enables students to observe and understand problems and can collect information related to problems given by teachers. The students 'mathematics learning outcomes also increased in UH I and UH II seen from the achievement of students' knowledge and skills and frequency distribution analysis. The results of this analysis indicate that the application of PBL model can improve the learning process and improve students' mathematics learning outcomes of students of grade VII8 SMPN 14 Pekanbaru in 2017/2018 academic year at Aritmetika Sosial form material.Key Words : Mathematics Achievement, Problem Based Learning, Class Action Research

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research is the restrict of mathematics learning instruments as supporting learning referring to 2013 Curriculum. This research aimed to develop mathematics learning device that are Lesson Plan (LP) and Students Worksheet (SW) based curriculum 2013 in subject quadrilateral and triangle of seventh grade through problem based learning model. This research and development use 4-D development model by Thiagarajan which includes: (1) define, (2) design, (3) develop, and (4) disseminate. At the stage of define, the researcher conducted a needs analysis as first-end analysis, analysis characteristic of students, concept analysis, assignment analysis and learning aim specification. Furthermore gather the necessary materials to design LP and SW. Learning device that had been developed then validated by three validators and revised based on the input from validators.The valid learning device then tested in two stages, the small group trial with subjects are 10 students of class VII6 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru and large group trial with subjects are 34 students of class VII5 SMP Negeri 8 Pekanbaru. Based on the data analysis and discussion can be concluded that the LP and SW in quadrilateral and triangle subject of seventh grade through problem based learning model are valid with an average value for the LP is 3.53 and the average value for SW is 3.45, and SW is practical to use by learners class VII.Keywords: Mathematics Learning Instrument, Problem Based Learning Model, Quadrilateral and Triangle.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to produce learning devices by discovery learning model using cultural context of Malay on Sequence and Series material of class XI. The study model used is 4-D that consist of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research instrument used is validity device and practicality device. The validity device is a validation sheets to assess the feasibility learning devices form of syllabus, lesson plan (RPP), and student worksheets (LKPD). The practicality device is practically sheets towards use student worksheets. The learning devices developed are validated by three validators. The research trials were conducted in SMAN 15 Pekanbaru which is tested in a small group and large group. Based on the data analysis, it can be conclude that the average value for syllabus, lesson plan, dan student worksheets are 3.61; 3.53; and 3.54 that are in very valid category. The student worksheets valued as very practical with mean score for small group and large group testing are 3.45 and 3.39 that are in very practical category. This Research and Deveplopment aims to produce learning devices by discovery learning model using cultural context of Malay on Sequence and Series material of class XI in high school consist of valid for syllabus and lesson plan, and then valid too practical for student worksheets.Key Words: Learning Devices, Discovery Learning Model, Cultural Contex of Melayu, Development Research, 4-D Model

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a class action research that aims to improve the learning process and to increase the outcomes of mathematics learning of the students by applying Problem Based Learning (PBL). The subjects of this research are the students of class VIII2 SMP Negeri 17 Pekanbaru at the first semester of academic years 2018/2019 which total number of participants are 40 students, consists of 11 male students and 29 female students with heterogeneous academic achievements. This research has two cycles. Each of them has four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collecting instruments consist observation sheet (learning process) andthe students' worksheet. Learning device used in this research consists of Syllabus, Lesson plan, and Student work sheet. The data were analized by narrative descriptive and statistical descriptive analysis. The data were obtained from the observation sheets of teacher and students activities that showed the learning process has improved after the model being implemented. From the data of the student’s evaluation test, it showed that the number of students who reach the standard category (range score 75-83), good (range score 84-92), and very good (range score 93-100) with Minimal Score of Criteria is 75, increased from the basic score to the Quiz I, from Quiz I to Quiz II. In conclusion, the implementation of Problem Based Learning model can improve the learning process and increase the outcomes of mathematics learning of the students of grade VIII2 SMP Negeri 17 Pekanbaru on the first semester in academic years 2018/2019 on system of two variable linear equations.Key Words: The outcomes of Mathematics Learning, Problem Based Learning, Class action research.

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research is the low outcomes study of mathematical  of students class XI MAN 3 Pekanbaru. The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the difference of mathematical outcomes study of students who study through discovery learning (DL) model with student who study through conventional learning with scientific approaching; (2) to describe the improvment of mathematical outcomes study of students who study through discovery learning (DL) model with students who study through conventional learning with scientific approaching. This research is an experimental research (quasi experiment) with The Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this research is all students of class XI MAN 3 Pekanbaru. The sample of this research consits of two classes, class XI MIA2 as experiment class and XI MIA1 as control class. The research instruments are mathematical prior knowledge test and matehmatical outcomes study test. Mathematical prior knowledge test score were used to select the sample of this research. Data were analysed by using Independent sample t-test preceded by normality test and homogenity of variances test. The result showed that the difference of mathematical and the improvement of mathematical outcomes study of students who study through DL model is higher than student who study through conventional learning with scientific approaching.  Key Words: Discovery Learning, Mathematical Outcomes Study

Abstract

Abstract: This research was based on the students achievement in learning mathematics especially grade VIII1 of SMP Negeri 15 Pekanbaru under the Mastery Minimum Criteria with percentage of 43,6% on the test about cube, cuboid, prism, pyramid. Beside, this research was based on the low of students learning activity with the percentage of 60,53% of students still looks passive in the process of learning math. This research is a class action research. This research aims to improve the leraning activities students and learning result in mathematics in grade VIII1 of SMP Negeri 15 Pekanbaru by implementation of CTL approach. The analyzed in quantitive showed there is an increase in againts the seven indicators of the activity of student learning. The results of this research showed an increasing number of students learning mathematic from the basic score with percentage 38,46% to 68,42% on the test I and 81,58% on the test II. Based on the result of this research could be concluded that the implementation of CTL Approach can improve the students learning activity and student’s achievement of learning mathematic in grade VIII1 of SMP Negeri 15 Pekanbaru in the first semester academic years 2016/2017.

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this research was the low ability of students mathematical understanding which effect to the lower score of mathematics learning outcomes in junior high school. The type of this research is experimental research and using the static group comparison design. The population in this research were all grade IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Kampar Timur. The sample in this research consists of two class, where the IX1 as an experimental class and the IX2 as a control class. The aim in this research was to know the effect of implementation discovery learning model toward students mathematical understanding ability based on KD 3.7 Create the generalization of the surface area and the volume of curved side geometry (tube, cone, and ball), and KD 4.7 Complete the contextual problems which are related to the surface area and the volume of curved side geometry (tube, cone, and ball), and also the combination of some of the curved side geometries. The instruments in this research were mathematical early ability test and the mathematical understanding ability test (postest). The result of mathematical early ability test was used for determining the sample of class. The postest result was analyzed by nonparametric statistic test of Mann Whitney and the magnitude of the effect was calculated using the Cohen’s formula. The result of the research showed that implementation discovery learning model gave the positive effect toward the mathematical understanding ability. The implementation discovery learning model had a magnitude of the effect for 76% toward the students mathematical understanding ability at grade IX of SMP Negeri 1 Kampar Timur and included in the medium category.Key Words: Discovery Learning, Mathematical Understanding Ability.

Abstract

Abstract: This research to improve the learning process and the students mathematical understanding skill by implementation cooperative learning model with the discovery method. The type of this research is classroom action research with two cycles. This research was conducted at class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 4 Kundur of the first semester to 24 students on 2019/2020 academic year on matrix material. The research instruments used mathematical learning instruments (syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheets) and instruments for collecting data (observation sheets and mathematical understanding tests). Qualitative data were collected by observation technique with observation sheets which aimed to obtain data on the activities of teacher and students. Quantitative data was collected by a test technique using a mathematical understanding ability test kit that aimed to collected students mathematical understanding ability data. Base on the analysis of the observation sheets showed that the quality of implementation of learning process was improved at each meeting. Students have been more active in learning and their participation in increasing knowledge is also getting better. Result of the test indicated that the student’s learning achievement for the first was 48,14 improved in 1st cycle to 60,87 and improved to be 79,73 in 2nd cycle. Students qualification also improved for the 2nd cycle high qualification was 66,7%, medium qualification was 8,3% and low qualification was 25% when compared to 1st cycle that was high qualification was 33,3%, medium qualification was 33,3% and low qualification was 33,3% while the first high qualification was 25%, medium qualification was 12,5% and low qualification was 62,5%Key Words: Cooperative Learning, Discovery Method, Mathematical Understanding Skill

Abstract

This research is based on the low mathematical representation ability of students and the lack of textbooks used by teachers in presenting teaching material. This study aims to describe the results of the development of information technology-based teaching materials to improve the mathematical representation ability of students in class X Trigonometry Function Materials that are valid, practical, and effective. The model used in this research development is the ADDIE development model, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research instruments used in this article are validation sheets (validity aspects), teacher assessment sheets and student assessment sheets (practical aspects), and mathematical representation ability tests (effectiveness aspects). Analysis of the data used in this research is parametric statistics, the t-test with the help of SPSS 18.00 using the Independent-Sample t-Test. This research resulted in a product of teaching materials based on information and technology in valid mathematics (87.11%), practical (90.81%) and effective (0.043 <0.05).

Abstract

Faktor yang melatarbelakangi dilaksanakan penelitian ini yaitu pentingnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis (KPMM), akan tetapi dalam prakteknya masih banyak ditemui siswa yang berkemampuan rendah dalam pemecahan masalah matematis. Maksud dari penelitian ini agar mampu memberikan gambaran terhadap pemecahan masalah matematis (KPMM) siswa dengan indikator memahami permasalahan, menyusun rencana pemecahan, melaksanakan rencana, dan melakukan pemeriksaan kembali. Metode yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif di mana subjeknya akan menggunakan siswa kelas VIII SMP Kecamatan Bukit Kapur berjumlah 60 orang. Instrumen penelitiannya berupa dua soal tes uraian. Untuk memperoleh informasi mendalam dilakukan wawancara terhadap tiga peserta didik yang kemampuannya heterogen dan dipilih dari seluruh siswa yang mengikuti tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 23,67 persen siswa berkategori tinggi, 52,63 persen siswa berkategori sedang dan 23,7 persen siswa berkategori rendah. Rendahnya pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dipengaruhi oleh faktor kurangnya kemampuan memahami masalahsulit menentukan cara memecahkan masalah, sulit menentukan penggunaan rumus, sulit melakukan penyelesaian tahapan perhitungan, dan tidak pernah melakukan pengecekan kembali pada jawaban yang didapatkan.
