Abstract

Students' mathematical understanding ability in Matrix material of Senior High Schools is still low. This is due to students being less active in learning, teaching materials are still limited and in learning teachers are more accustomed to presenting formulas instantly. This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective learning tool by implementing a cooperative model of Numbered Head Together (NHT) to improve students' mathematical understanding abilities in the Matrix Class XI material. The development model used was the Borg and Gall model. Data collection instruments used in this study were interview guides, questionnaires, and tests. The average validation results for RPP is 3.81 and for LKPD is 3.84 with a very valid category. Limited testing of 15 students obtained 91.22% percentage of student responses categorized as very practical. Field trials on 25 students obtained a percentage of the response of students 90.20% categorized as very practical. The results of the effectiveness test indicate that the students' mathematical understanding ability is increasing.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low Mathematical Comprehension Ability (KPM) and Mathematical Problem Solving Ability (KPMM) of students and the absence of learning tools that can properly solve the problem of low KPM and KPMM. The products that is produced from this research are syllabus, lesson plans, and LKPD using discovery learning models with the context of Riau culture to improve students' KPM and KPMM. The development model used the Borg and Gall model. The validity instrument was in the form of a validation sheet for the syllabus, lesson plans, and student worksheet. Practicality instrument was used in the form of student response questionnaire. The data collection technique was carried out by validating learning devices and distributing response questionnaires to students. The data analysis technique used the analysis of validity and analysis of practicality. The average validation of the syllabus was 3.7; RPP, namely 3.54; and LKPD namely 3.51 with each category very valid. The average student response questionnaire in the initial field trial was 88.57 with the very practical category. The learning tools developed have been valid and practical to improve students' KPM and KPMM.

Abstract

This research was underlined by the few availability of Mathematics learning tools as the teacher’s guidance in implementing the learning and the low Mathematics achievement of the students. This research aims to produce valid, practical, and effective learning tools by using cooperative learning models of Numbered Head Together (NHT) structural approach on sequence and series material. This research and development was conducted by adapting a 4-D development model by Thiagarajan. The stages of this research consisted of Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination. The validation results of the learning tools consisting of syllabus, Lesson Plan, and LKPD that are 92%, 92,07%, and 94,33% with extremely valid criteria. The practicality result on small group trial is 93,99%, big group trial is 93,42% and teacher’s response 93,88% with extremely practical criteria. The effectiveness result shows that the students’ learning achievement increases by using the developed learning tools.

Abstract

Abstract

This research is motivated by students' low mathematical reasoning ability due to conventional teaching methods and the lack of learning resources that support students' reasoning skills. Local wisdom-based student worksheets were developed using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach to address this issue. Local wisdom from Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, such as Otak-otak and Batik Gonggong, was used as the context for learning Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model (define, design, develop, disseminate). The instruments for assessing validity and practicality were expert validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires using a Likert scale. The effectiveness instrument used was a set of four essay questions. Data obtained on the Likert scale were analyzed using the Method of Successive Interval (MSI). Validation results showed that the student worksheets were categorized as valid, with an average expert validation percentage of 76.2%. Practicality tests yielded an average percentage of 77.59% (small group) and 67% (field test), both categorized as practical. The effectiveness test results showed an average score of 79.8 in the high category, and the mathematical reasoning ability test was deemed effective, with a classical mastery level of 90%. This study highlights the effectiveness of local wisdom-based worksheets using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach to facilitate students' mathematical reasoning skills and encourages teachers to integrate local wisdom into student worksheets.
