Abstract

Abstract Effective educational tools are crucial in enhancing students' comprehension, abilities, and academic results. One creative option is interactive flipbooks, which deliver content in a more visual and engaging manner. The objective of this research is to evaluate the viability of flipbook media, assess its impact on educational outcomes, and explore student feedback regarding its application. The study adopted a quantitative methodology, involving 26 students from grade XII as participants. It followed an eight-step process, which included (1) identifying potential issues, (2) gathering data, (3) creating a design, (4) validating it, (5) revising the design, (6) conducting trials, (7) refining the product, and (8) testing the implementation. The research framework utilized a One-Group Pretest-Posttest model to assess shifts in learning results. Data collection methods, including observations, learning outcome evaluations, and surveys, were analyzed through averages and t-tests. Findings indicated that the flipbook media achieved a high feasibility rating, with a score of 4.41, categorized as "good." The analysis of improvements in learning outcomes displayed significant changes, showing that the average pre-test score of 53.92 rose to 86.08 in the post-test. Additionally, the practical assessment yielded impressive results, with an average score of 89 and a 100% completion rate. Students provided overwhelmingly positive feedback on this medium, reflected in an average score of 4.55, categorized as "very good." From these results, interactive flipbooks are deemed effective and practical for enhancing students' understanding and skills related to hair cutting techniques using the uniform layer method. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of a project-based learning paradigm on the competencies necessary for engineering and designing nail art. This research sets out to answer three questions: 1) how the project-based learning model was put into practice; 2) what students learn in terms of nail art engineering and design abilities; and 3) how students felt about the approach overall. The methodology used is a one-shot case study based on quantitative research methods and the pre-experimental design. Methods such as observation, posttests, and questionnaires are used to collect data. Descriptive statistical tests of the mean are used in data analysis procedures. Individuals participating in this research were high school seniors from SMK Negeri 3 Kediri's Beauty 2 class. The study's findings revealed the following: 1) Project-based learning was deemed very good overall with an average score of 4 aspects; 2) Class XI Beauty 2 students' learning outcomes regarding nail art technique and design material received an average score of 88, also classified as very good; 3) A total of 89.2% of students rated their experience with the project-based learning model as very good. The study's findings support the idea that SMK Negeri 3 Kediri's project-based learning methodology is a good fit for teaching students about nail art and design. Abstract

This research is motivated bythe students need to enhance their interest and learning outcomes in skills aspects. The aim of this research is to develop effective learning media for the learning process in the competency of geriatric facial makeup.Therealityat SMKN 1 Buduran shows a lack of learningmedia facilities toimprove the skills required by the students and that these are not suitable for the characteristics of the students at SMKN 1 Buduran. The main objectives of this research specifically consist of four points: 1) To develop video-based learning media, 2) To assess the feasibility of the developed video learning media, 3) To know the students' responses to the developed learning media, 4) To measure students' learning outcomes in the skills aspect. This research employs the R&D method byBorg and Gall.Theresearch sample consists of 36 students from class XI HD MUA at SMKN 1 Buduran. Data collection was carried out through interviews, feasibility validation tests, student response questionnaires, and performance tests based on performance assessmentrubrics. The feasibility validation score from 3 expertsreceived an average total score of 4.60, which falls into the 'verygood' category. The results from 36 students received positive feedback, resulting in an average total score of 4.65, also falling into the 'very good' category. Student learning outcomes in the skill aspect showed the effectiveness of this media, achieving an average total score of 87.3. Therefore, the development of learning media in this research can be said to be successful in enhancing students' interest and learning outcomes both in a classical and individual manner in the material of geriatric facial makeup competency. Abstract

In the academic environment of the Cosmetology Study Program at UNESA, female students are expected to not only understand the concept of hair coloring but also be able to understand the theoretical concepts in applying hair coloring techniques accurately. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge of female students regarding undercoat levels, assess their ability to perform double application hair coloring, and analyze the relationship between the two variables. This study employs a quantitative correlational approach involving female students from the Hair Styling Program at UNESA, class of 2022. The research instruments consist of a knowledge test, and data analysis was conducted using Pearson's correlation test. The results show that the average score for undercoat knowledge is 88.6, and the score for double application coloring ability is 84.8—both categorized as very good. The data were normally distributed, and the correlation analysis showed a coefficient of 0.997 with a p-value of 0.001, indicating a very strong and statistically significant relationship between undercoat knowledge and theoretical ability in double application hair coloring. Based on these findings, it is recommended that theoretical concepts at the undercoat level be further strengthened through a more contextual learning approach. Students are encouraged to further develop their foundational knowledge to support practical skills. Abstract

This research aims to describe the design concept, creation process, and evaluation results of the "Taajmiratmaa" crown as a visual representation of Kuwait's natural wealth and culture. The crown's design concept is inspired by the Arfaj flower, Kuwait's national flora symbolizing desert resilience and beauty, and Failaka Beach with its clear blue sea, representing peace and purity. Dominant colors of sea blue, white, and silver were chosen to reflect spirituality and elegance. The crown's form integrates Arfaj floral motifs with Islamic geometric elements, creating a graceful, feminine, yet strong impression. The primary material used is eva foam due to its lightweight and flexible properties, adorned with imitation Swarovski crystals in blue and white for a luxurious feel, resembling the sparkle of boron diamonds. The creation process began with developing a mood board and two alternative designs. Based on initial evaluations by three expert informants, Design 2 was selected for its superior aesthetics, proportion, and symbolism. The realization phase involved measuring the model's head, pattern making, material planning, main and detailed pattern drawing, Swarovski application in Arfaj flower motifs, bonsai wire foundation installation, and finishing with glitter application. The final evaluation of the realized crown was conducted by 30 respondents (makeup artistry students) using a Likert scale. The results showed an overall average score of 45 out of 50 points, with most respondents giving scores between 42-50 points. The most prominent aspects receiving high ratings were cultural theme suitability, color combination, and overall visual aesthetics. This indicates that the "Taajmiratmaa" crown successfully integrates Kuwaiti cultural elements with modern design, receiving high appreciation in both artistic and technical aspects. Abstract

This research focuses on the development of an instructional learning medium in the form of a video tutorial for colored photo makeup with the Igari Looks style, aimed at supporting learning outcomes in photo makeup competency. The study employed a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The research subjects were 29 students from SMK Negeri 8 Surabaya. The results of the study show that: (1) The development process of the video tutorial as a learning medium underwent expert validation and student trials, resulting in a rating categorized as "highly feasible". (2) The validation results indicated average percentages of 91.25% for the media aspect, 90% for the material aspect, and 88.25% for the language aspect, with an overall average of 89.83%. Based on these results, the video tutorial learning medium is deemed suitable for use in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to produce a video lesson that will function as an instructional tool for stage makeup in SMK Negeri 6 Surabaya's class XI. The five steps of the ADDIE development model—analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation—are used in this study's research and development. Expert validation for media elements was 96.88%, material aspects were 96.25%, and language aspects were 95%, according to the study's findings. With an overall average of 96.04%, it falls into the "very suitable" category for educational usage. Additionally, the average value of cognitive learning outcomes was 92.59%, and the students' classical completion rate was 89.44. The psychomotor score, on the other hand, was in the "very good" range with an average of 88.15 and a classical completion percentage of 100%. With 95.3% of pupils responding to the video session, the response rate was deemed "very positive." Thus, it can be said that teaching Balinese dancing stage makeup through video instructional learning materials is quite appropriate and successful. It is expected that this research will serve as a roadmap for the creation of comparable media in the fields of beauty and other occupations. Abstract

Video tutorial media can improve understanding, motivation, participation, and is flexible. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying video tutorial learning media for daily makeup based on sign language for deaf students. The research approach used is Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Data collection methods include observation, learning outcome tests, and questionnaires. The research subjects were 8 deaf students in grades X, XI, and XII at SMALB-B Karya Mulia Surabaya who chose beauty as their focus, The data obtained were analyzed descriptively quantitatively to determine the feasibility of the media and its effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. The results showed that based on the Validator's assessment, the media scored 4.6 with very feasible criteria. The achievement of student learning outcomes was 88%, indicating that the learning objectives were met, achieving mastery of deaf students' abilities in performing daily makeup. The average student response score was 4.54, which shows very feasible criteria. Therefore, the application of video tutorial learning media using sign language can be an effective alternative learning method for deaf students." Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed the way consumers obtain information and form preferences regarding makeup products. Social media, particularly TikTok, has become a strategic platform for beauty influencers to share educational content, reviews, and product recommendations. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence, and to what extent, the TikTok content of @galih.makeupartis affects the purchasing decisions of undergraduate students majoring in Beauty Education at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. This research employs a quantitative approach with an associative research type. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 55 respondents and analyzed using a simple linear regression test. The results show that the TikTok content of @galih.makeupartis has a significant influence on purchasing decisions, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-count of 6.954 > t-table of 2.006. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.477 indicates that 47.7% of the purchase decision can be explain by the TikTok content. These findings indicate that the audiovisual and narrative content of beauty influencers on TikTok plays an important role in shaping purchasing decisions, particularly among beauty education students. Abstract

The success of educational activities relies heavily on the use of innovative learning strategies. One such strategy is Problem-Based Learning (PBL), which emphasizes real-world and contextual problem-solving.This study aims to (1) evaluate the implementation of the PBL syntax, (2) analyze students’ academic performance covering intellectual (cognitive), behavioral (affective), and practical skills (psychomotor) dimensions, and (3) assess students’ responses to the application of PBL in the hand bouquet material. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design involving a single group that received a pre-test and post-test. The participants consisted of 32 eleventh-grade students from the Beauty Competency Group 1 at SMKN 6 Surabaya. Data collection instruments included observation sheets, academic tests, and questionnaires. Instrument validity was tested and confirmed to be valid. The reliability test yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha score of 0.991, indicating that the instruments were highly reliable and suitable for data collection purposes. The research data were analyzed using mean scores for the PBL syntax implementation and affective assessment, paired sample t-test for intellectual academic performance, one-sample test for practical performance, and percentage analysis for questionnaire data. The findings revealed that the PBL syntax implementation achieved an "excellent" category with a score of 4.88. Intellectual performance showed a significant improvement from a pre-test score of 57.66 to a post-test score of 82.19. The affective aspect improved from a score of 4.12 in the first session to 4.30 in the second, both falling under the "very good" category. Practical skill performance reached a score of 85.50, exceeding the minimum passing grade (KKTP) of 70. Students’ responses to the learning model were highly positive, with an average score of 96%. It can be concluded that the PBL model is effective in enhancing students’ academic performance in learning the hand bouquet material. Keywords: Pre-Experimental, Hand Bouquet, Problem-Based Learning
