Abstract

The COVID-19 outbreak made many public activities shift with the main activity center being at home. This situation is a new reality that is also experienced by the world of education. Like it or not, like it or not, all parties starting from the teacher, parents, and students must be prepared to live a new life (new normal) through a learning approach using information technology and electronic media so that the teaching process can take place properly. In parents the condition can be more severe, because not only must be able to concentrate on work but also must act as a teacher for children who study at home. So the stressors can be multiplied and parents are very much asked to be able to handle this situation well. Meditation in the Buddhist tradition comes from the word bhavana which means culture or mental development. Mental development referred to here is broad mental development.Keywords: Samatha Meditation, Covid-19, Mental Health

Abstract

The ranking of education in Indonesia, which is quite far behind compared to other countries, shows several problem factors found by educators and students. Several facts were found by researchers when conducting preliminary research that communication skills between educators and students were less developed. Therefore, some strategies were developed to improve communication skills between teachers and students, one of which is using the coaching method. This study aims to describe the implementation of coaching as a strategy for empowering communication skills in the educational context. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The results show that coaching can be a strategy for empowering communication skills in the educational context, especially between educators and students. By comparing with previous studies, the novelty element in this research is the coaching method implemented on students with different levels of education, namely in primary and secondary schools,which educators carry out with different qualifications.

Abstract

The research aims at investigating the causes of anger from the perspective of Buddhist sociology as explained in the Sutta Pittaka and Social Psychology. It was a qualitative research employing hermeneutics approach. The data analysis included (1) deciding the texts to be examined, (2) reading and understanding the texts, (3) describing and interpreting, and (4) drawing conclusion towards the meanings of the texts. The results showed that generally, the causes of anger according to Sutta Pittaka were explained in Ayonisomanasikāra Sutta, Saṁyutta Nikāya, Majjhima Nikaya, Saṁyutta Nikaya, and Aṅguttara Nikāya. The suttas explained that anger happened because of the contact (phassa) towards eyes (cakkhu) and form (rūpa), and eyes consciousness (cakkhu-viññāṇa). Sociologically, based on the individual and social aspect, Suttapiṭaka mentioned that the causes of anger were from the economic, ideology, and unethical deeds aspects. Social Physchology mentioned that angers were caused by internal and external things. Therefore, the causes of anger in the view of Suttapiṭaka, from sociological views and Social Physchology rooted from individual’s feeling and response towards what other did to him/her.

Abstract

This study aims to measure how important pedagogical competence is in addressing student learning behavior at SMP Negeri 2 Susukan. This research is a quantitative research with a correlational approach, namely research that aims to find out whether or not there is an influence or relationship between two or more variables, and if there is a relationship, how big the relationship is. To collect data the researcher distributes questionnaires to students. This study involved 15 students. The results of the data analysis show a strong relationship between teacher pedagogical competence and student learning behavior.

Abstract

Era digital saat ini mengalami kemajuan pesat dalam konvergensi teknologi, membawa dampak signifikan pada berbagai sektor, termasuk pendidikan. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi implikasi dari konvergensi teknologi pada metodologi pendidikan Buddhisme kontemporer dengan menggunakan metode studi literatur. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa teknologi telah memfasilitasi aksesibilitas dan diseminasi informasi ajaran Buddhisme dengan lebih efisien. Namun, terdapat juga tantangan, seperti potensi kehilangan interaksi tatap muka yang mendalam antara guru dan murid. Kesimpulannya, walaupun konvergensi teknologi membawa banyak manfaat, penting bagi institusi pendidikan Buddhisme untuk mempertimbangkan secara cermat bagaimana teknologi diintegrasikan dalam kurikulum.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest marine debris disposal countries in Asia. Due to its open dumping garbage disposal scheme and the growing population of productive age and educated demographic, there is a heightened urgency to develop an education model as a practical solution. This study aims to develop an education model that combines education and mindfulness to achieve environmental competency using a pretest-posttest control group design. The target population is 96 students in classes 11 and 12, and they are divided randomly into 2 groups called the experiment group which got the intervention and the control group which did not get any intervention. The intervention given to the experimental group was built on social learning theory and adapted to the environment and socio-culture of Jakarta, Indonesia. Pretest and posttest questionnaire were used and analyzed using t-test, paired samples t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The results shows that environmental education and mindfulness influence positively pro-environmental behaviour, and there are significant differences in posttest result of the experimental group. Our experiment demonstrates education and mindfulness can simultaneously cultivate and sustain environmental competency.

Abstract

This journal explores the Buddhist perspective regarding the behavioral reality approach as a concept that includes spiritual, philosophical and psychological aspects. This approach is based on basic Buddhist concepts such as freedom from suffering (dukkha) and a deep understanding of attachment (tanha) to reality. This journal outlines key Buddhist concepts related to the behavioral reality approach, such as mindfulness (awareness), impermanence (anicca), and concern for suffering (karuna). In addition, this journal discusses how Buddhist understanding of reality can shape patterns of behavior and responses to the surrounding environment. Through a qualitative approach, this research involves analysis of classical Buddhist texts and interviews with Buddhist practitioners who have applied the reality-behavior approach in everyday life. The results suggest that Buddhist understanding of reality can provide a basis for the development of behavioral policies and therapeutic practices that include spiritual and psychological aspects. This research provides in-depth insight into how a Buddhist perspective can contribute to the understanding and treatment of behavioral realities in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to dissect the challenges, identify the unique characteristics, and propose viable strategies for the seamless integration of local and global dimensions in higher Buddhist education. This study used the systematic literature review method with a qualitative approach.   The research hinged on an extensive review of scholarly articles, primary texts, and reports on Buddhist education in Indonesia and internationally and then analyzed using thematic analysis. Results highlight that Indonesian Buddhist education possesses unique characteristics and mirrors global patterns, albeit with localized interpretations. The study underscored the importance of recognizing and integrating the Buddhayana spirit amidst global Buddhist sectarian diversities. The contribution of this review was twofold: first, it enriches the understanding of the specificities of Indonesian Buddhist higher education and its relation to global trends; second, it advocates for a harmonious blend of local and global in shaping the trajectory of global Buddhist pedagogy.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCultural customs develop in the middle of society with their respective characteristics, acculturated with their beliefs. The cultural traditions that are integrated with Buddhism are complementary and in line with each area where Buddhism develops, this makes Buddhist communities have their own characteristics in each region. The purpose of writing the article Acculturation of the Local Wisdom Values of Mengawe in Buddhism will be able to provide understanding and understanding of the local values that exist in Buddhist society that have been integrated into the tradition so that Buddhists in each region have an understanding of the diversity of traditions and have their own characteristics so that they are able to mutually appreciate in diversity. This research is a qualitative research which is library research in which the research uses literature study and books as the main object. Mengawe is a custom and culture that unites people in the midst of diversity and is able to respect and support each other in the implementation process as a form of social beings that need each other, besides that Gawe also has family, social, togetherness, tolerance, and so on.

Abstract

Human beings, as social creatures, consistently engage in interactions within both their families and organizational or community environments. Communication is a fundamental aspect of these interactions, and ethical communication practices should be carefully observed. Communication involves two individuals and is referred to as interpersonal communication. Throughout his life, Buddha demonstrated numerous examples of how he interacted with his followers. He consistently employed a gentle approach, providing understanding in the face of any issues and responding with compassion. Temples, which serve as places for the Buddhist community to gather, are venues for interactions among fellow Buddhists. This warrants the attention of temple administrators to foster peace and harmony. By implementing the interpersonal communication methods exemplified by Buddha, temple administrators should strive to offer excellent services to the community. This, in turn, can enhance the moral values of the community, allowing individuals to engage in virtuous actions unimpeded. The methods of this article is systematic literature review.
