Inclusive children or children with special needs are those who have abnormalities in the process of growth or development; which can be physical, mental-intellectual, social, or emotional. The World Health Organization predicts that around 7% of the world's total children population is inclusive children. Exercise that are adapted and modified according to their needs, the type of abnormality and the ability of inclusive children are able to improve motor and sensory abilities so that they will improve their quality of life. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of parents with inclusive children in implementing adaptive exercise for their children. The method used was seminar and training. Activity evaluation was carried out using questionnaire to observe the increase of knowledge. This activity was attended by 31 parents and 31 inclusive children, with the highest parents’ age range in 31-40 years, which is mothers 38.7%; 41.9% father. The age of expecting mothers of inclusive children mostly ranges from 31-40 years (35.5%). Increased knowledge about child development was 31% (pretest 68, posttest 91.8) and increased knowledge about adaptive sports was 72.18% (pretest 49.6, posttest 85.4).abstrakAnak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) adalah anak yang dalam proses pertumbuhan atau perkembangannya mengalami kelainan atau penyimpangan; yang bisa berupa fisik, mental-intelektual, sosial, atau emosionalnya. Abstract

The increase in human life expectancy has led to an increase in the number of older adults worldwide, including in Indonesia. The aging population raises sarcopenia as a further problem in geriatric medicine. Sarcopenia is a syndrome characterized by progressive skeletal muscle mass and strength loss. This syndrome is associated with reduced quality of life, increased risk of falls, and even death. Physical exercise is the only effective intervention strategy. Therefore, we designed this community service program for socializing the healthy lifestyle of the elderly with one focus on physical exercise as a promotive, preventive, and curative effort on the incidence of sarcopenia in the elderly. The method chosen was socialization and educating fifty-two pre-elderly and elderly target partners regarding the healthy lifestyle for the older adults and elderly exercise activities as stimulation. The "Let's Move!" campaign that has been implemented can socialize and increase the knowledge of target partners regarding sarcopenia and physical exercise as an intervention for prevention and treatment. The formulation of the main guidelines for safe exercise for the elderly can be useful for target partners who generally already have one type of condition that limits their ability to carry out activities of daily living.

Abstract

The health problems of the elderly in the Puskesmas Industri, Gresik work area align with the Indonesian health phenomenon where the number of elderly and degenerative diseases is high. Health cadres training in the work area of the Puskesmas Industri is needed to optimize the role of cadres in educating and implementing a healthy lifestyle in older adults. The Community Partnership Program, focusing on health as part of goal 3 of The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was carried out on September 1, 2022, and was attended by 57 cadres from 6 villages. Health information was provided as a provision for cadres to provide education to the public about the healthy lifestyle of the elderly. The results showed that there was an increase of 17,26 points (34,76%) after training. The lowest post-test results were on the topic of BMI and its interpretation, as well as physical activity in the elderly, so further action is needed. During FGD, the Elderly Health Book from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia was introduced. The results of the FGD showed that the introduction of the Elderly Health Book should be continued so that health cadres can consistently use it. Health cadres have a significant role in realizing the elderly health program from the Indonesian Ministry of Health. This health cadre training has proven to be very necessary because it can increase understanding as a provision for cadres in providing education to the public regarding the healthy lifestyle of the elderly.

Abstract

Highlights: Moderate-intensity continuous training exercise did not affect the diameter of pancreatic islets of Langerhans in a high-calorie diet subject. Moderate-intensity continuous training exercise did not affect the number of pancreatic islets of Langerhans in a high-calorie diet subject.   Abstract Introduction: Calorie consumption that exceeds normal limits each year can be a risk factor in causing diabetes mellitus (DM). This condition causes the body to be in a state of hyperglycemia, which will trigger changes in the diameter and number of Langerhans islet cells. Moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) is recommended as a physical exercise method to help prevent DM. Methods: This true experimental study used a randomized post-test-only control group design. Wistar female rats were randomly divided into three large groups: (A) the control group without a high-calorie diet and exercise, (B) the group with a high-calorie diet without exercise, and (C) the group with both a high-calorie diet and exercise (MICT). This experiment lasted for four weeks with an exercise frequency of five times a week. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that group differences in diameter had results of p=0.130 (p>0.05), while the number of islets of Langerhans had results of p=0.068 (p>0.05). Results: There was no significant difference in the islets of Langerhans’ diameter between the three groups (p=0.116). The number of islets of Langerhans also had no significant differences (p=0.068). Conclusion: There was no significant effect of a high-calorie diet and MICT physical exercise on the diameter and number of pancreatic islets of Langerhans cells in female rats (Rattus norvegicus).

Abstract

Metabolic disease is an epidemic phenomenon that affects both men and women from various ages, ethnic, and socio-economic groups. The term metabolic disease itself is an umbrella term that includes, among others: hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Lifestyles such as poor nutrition, physical activity, and habits are risk factors that can increase the incidence of metabolic disease. Therefore, prevention of metabolic diseases is necessary, including for ordinary people. Metabolic disease, namely hypertension, is in 3rd place and diabetes is in 10th place, the most common disease suffered by residents of Singotrunan Village, Banyuwangi. In this regard, it is important to make efforts to prevent metabolic disease and even death due to complications from metabolic disease. This community service program is designed to create a fit village as a sustainable healthy lifestyle, initiated through health checks for screening, exercise training, education and discussions as encouragement to do regular exercise. The participants' pre-test and post-test results showed a significant increase in their level of knowledge (p=0.01). The results of the participant satisfaction test showed that 80.9% of participants said they were very satisfied and the rest (19.1%) said they were satisfied. It is hoped that the PKM activity to initiate a fit village in Singotrunan Village, Banyuwangi will provide motivation for residents to exercise regularly and can become a model village for residents of other areas.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to describe the physical condition differences between female athletes indoor hockey of East Java Team and National Team. Data sampling is taken from 12 female athletes indoor hockey of PON 2016 with age range 17-28 years old and 12 athletes of indoor hockey of Indonesia's National Team at SEA Games 2017 with age range 19-28 years old for comparison. Physical condition that measured is VO2max to represent endurance, abdominal muscle strength, speed and flexibility. Obtained data is then analyzed using SPSS. VO2max of East Java Team is (39.54±4.18) ml/kg/minute and for National Team is (43.43±7.59) ml/kg/minute (ρ=0.14). For abdominal muscle strength, East Java Team has (41.50±7.01) kg and National Team has (51.83±3.32) kg (ρ=0.00). For Speed, East Java Team has (3.59±0.30) second and National Team has (3.94±0.38) second (ρ=0.51). For Flexibility, East Java Team has (23.75±5.10) cm and National Team has (29.50±4.91) cm (ρ=0.01). From these data we can conclude that East Java Team physical condition is under National Team and it has significant differences at flexibility and abdominal muscle strength. Furthermore, optimal interventions are needed to improve both of those physical conditions. Keywords: hockey, endurance, flexibility, strength, speed
