Abstract

Abstract

The lack of physics practicum equipment in schools is one of the reasons why practicum activities are rarely carried out, so many students still do not understand the physics concepts being taught. Therefore, one of the aims of this study is to apply two types of virtual practical media (PhET and NI Multisin simulations) and assess their effectiveness. This research uses a quasi-experimental approach with a non-equivalent control group design. In other words, the study utilized two experimental groups and one control group. All students in class 12 of high school from five localities comprised the research population, and a purposive sampling technique randomly selected a sample of three classes. So we got a sample of class 12-1 science for experimental group 1, class 12-2 science for experimental group 2, and class 12-3 science for the control group. After the testing prerequisites were met, the independent sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05 was used for data analysis. According to the data analysis results, there are significant differences in conceptual understanding between students in the control class, PhET class, and NI Multisim class. The research concludes that lecturers or teachers wishing to conduct virtual practicums in physics learning should utilize the NI Multisim simulation due to its ease of use and its more suitable facilities for the topic under study.

Abstract

Dapat disimpulkan bahwa serat sabut lebih cocok diaplikasikan sebagai peredam bunyi pada berbagai frekuensi, sedangkan serat ampas tebu lebih efektif untuk frekuensi rendah   Kata  kunci—Serat Sabut Kelapa Cocos nucifera L), Serat Ampas Tebu (Saccharum offinarum), Koefisien Absorpsi, Peredam Bunyi, Frekuensi ABSTRACT   Sound absorbers have been successfully made with coco fiber and bagasse fiber and the sound absorption coefficient is known using the impedance tube method. This sound absorbing material is made by mixing bagasse fiber and coconut coir fiber with a catalyst and resin solution which has been mixed, molded and left for 3-4 hours. The researcher also discussed the differences in the characteristics of coco fiber and bagasse fiber as sound absorbers. In this research, material analysis of bagasse fiber and coco fiber as sound absorbers was carried out. The results of the study indicate that coconut fiber has better sound-damping capabilities than sugarcane bagasse fiber at a frequency of 400 Hz. At a frequency of 1000 Hz, although both samples show a decrease in absorption coefficient, coconut fiber still performs better with a higher coefficient than sugarcane bagasse. It can be concluded that coconut fiber is more suitable for sound-damping applications across various frequencies, while sugarcane bagasse fiber is more effective for low-frequency sound absorption.   Keywords—Coconut Coir Fiber (Cocos nucifera L), Sugarcane Bagasse Fiber (Saccharum offinarum), Absorbing Coefficient, Sound Absorption, Frequency

Abstract

In fact, the physics learning process in senior high schools does not encourage students to think critically, resulting in low learning outcomes. This research aims to test the effectiveness of a scientific-based flipped class model to enhance students' critical thinking abilities. The research method used is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, specifically nonequivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The population of this study consists of all tenth-grade science classes at Kutacane State Senior High School 3, and the sampling technique used is total sampling, where tenth-grade science class I serves as the experimental group, while the tenth-grade science class II serves as the control group. The instruments used are observation sheets, tests, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the N-Gain test, the classical completeness test, and student response analysis. The results of the study showed that critical thinking skills, as measured by both the classical completeness test and N-Gain test, improved in both classes, with the experimental class showing a high gain index category, while the control class showed a moderate gain index category. Learning using a scientific-based flipped class model is effective in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities because it can facilitate students in accessing the provided learning materials.
