Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the distance relationship of the location of the gill net rajungan fishing gear to the catch of knitting (Portunus pelagicus). This study was conducted from September to November 2019 in the waters of Balang Lompo Island, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The study used field observation methods to conduct observations, measurements and data retrieval, covering primary and secondary data. Data processing uses the help of statistical data processing programs. Based on the results of research that the distance relationship of the location of the gill net rajungan fishing gear to the catch of rajungan (Portunus pelagicus) in the waters of Balang Lompo Island, is very crowded, the farther from the beach the greater the number of catches.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the distribution of size, length relationship, and weight of sembilang fish caught with trap nets in the waters of Segeri District, Pangkep Regency. The research was carried out in Segeri District, Pangkep Regency from June to December 2022. The research method uses the survey method, the data collected consists of primary data and secondary data. The results of this study are the distribution of the size of the caught sembilang fish in the average size range that reaches the beginning of adult growth, because the size of the caught fish is still below the maximum size growth. The relationship between the length and weight of the fish that is predominantly caught in the net trap is negative allometrics. With a negative allometric growth pattern, it means that the increase in length is faster than the increase in weight.

Abstract

Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) is a fertilizer produced from natural ingredients. LOF is highly beneficial for enhancing seaweed cultivation productivity due to its complex nutritional content. It is favored by the community as it is relatively inexpensive and environmentally friendly. However, seaweed farmers currently lack the knowledge and skills to produce liquid organic fertilizer. This activity aimed to equip seaweed farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to produce environmentally friendly liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) using locally available materials, thereby improving the production and quality of cultivated seaweed. The methods employed to address this issue included educational sessions on environmentally sustainable farming practices and practical training on producing LOF from banana stalks. Results from these activities indicated that Caulerpa farmers were generally unaware of the potential use of banana stalks as raw material for LOF production. Through these educational sessions, members of the "Bahagia Bersama" Caulerpa farmers group gained an understanding of environmentally friendly cultivation techniques utilizing affordable and readily available banana stalk-based liquid organic fertilizer. Recommendations for future activities include intensive mentoring to ensure consistent implementation of cost-effective, environmentally sustainable seaweed farming methods, particularly through the use of locally sourced liquid organic fertilizer (LOF).
