Abstract

Abstract.. Dengue fever (DHF) is a viral infectious disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito and is characterized by fever, thrombocytopenia, and plasma permeation characterized by an increase in hematocrit. One of the important indicators of hematological examination to establish the diagnosis of DHF is platelet count and hematocrit value. This study aims to determine the description of hematocrit value and platelet count of DHF patients. The type of research used is descriptive analytic research using cross-sectional design with sample selection using purposive sampling technique. Data were taken from the medical records of DHF patients with a total sample of 175 patients. The results of the study obtained that the most age was children and adolescents, namely 64% and the most gender was female, namely 52%. Most patients had hematocrit values in the normal category, 73.1% with an average hematocrit value of 40.75%. Most patients had platelet counts <100,000/µL, 52.6% with an average platelet count of 120,880/µL. It can be concluded that the hematocrit value in patients is mostly in the normal level, and the platelet count is mostly in the <100,000/µL category.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction: Cinnamomum burmannii is commonly used in the treatment and is thought to be an anti-inflammation medicinal herb that may hasten recovery. Lip wound healing is a critical need for aesthetic performance. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of natural lip balm C. Burmannii has been shown to speed up the healing of incision wounds in rats (Rattus norvegicus). Methods: This research was carried out in the laboratory biomedical Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Islam Bandung. In twenty-seven male rats weighing 200-300 g, a lip mucous incision of 10 mm length and 4 mm depth was surgically created. Simple random sampling was used to divide the animals into three treatment groups based on wound treatment after lip incision (The control group applied distillation water, the first group applied a lip balm placebo/base, and the second group applied natural lip balm C. burmannii) and then divided into three observation times (days 3rd, 7th, and14th). A lip biopsy was performed during each observation time to determine the success of the therapy. The macroscopic examination was carried out by counting the number of lip wounds that were closed around, while the microscopic examination was carried out by counting epithelialization with a Leica microscope and image raster software. Result: The length of the lip wound has greatly decreased in the C. Burmannii group with a p-value of 0,048 (p<0.05, and epithelialization was comparable across the board. Conclusion: The use of Cinnamomum burmannii natural lip balm is effective in accelerating lip wound healing by bringing the lip wound closer together. Abstract

Evaluation and measurement of the learning environment can help improve the quality of education, including by assessing students' perceptions of it. Various internal and external factors will influence students' assessment of the learning environment. One instrument for measuring students' perceptions of the learning environment is the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM). This study aims to analyze the effects of gender and age on students' perceptions of the learning environment at the Faculty of Medicine in Bandung. This study uses primary data collected using the DREEM instrument to examine students' perceptions of the learning environment at the Faculty of Medicine. The subjects of this study were 437 students in the academic phase of the Faculty of Medicine. The research subjects were selected by random sampling. The average score per DREEM domain was then analysed using the Mann-Whitney test because the data were not normally distributed. The results showed that the average scores of female and male students were not significantly different across the DREEM domains (p>0.05). The average score for students aged >20 years was considerably lower in the learning process and lecturer domain than for students aged ≤20 years (p<0.05). In conclusion, age influences students' perceptions of the learning environment at the Faculty of Medicine, while gender does not.
