Abstract

Background. Religious education plays a crucial role in shaping moral and cultural values, especially in diverse regions like Papua, Indonesia. Traditional methods of religious education may not adequately address the unique needs of Papuan youth, who are deeply rooted in local wisdom and cultural values. The development of an AI-based platform offers an innovative solution to personalize and enhance learning experiences, ensuring that religious teachings are relevant and engaging for this demographic. Purpose. This study aims to design and develop an AI-based platform that customizes learning experiences for Papuan youth, integrating religious education with local wisdom and cultural values. The platform seeks to improve learning engagement, foster a deeper understanding of religious teachings, and preserve cultural identity. Method. The research employed a design-based research methodology, combining AI algorithms, educational content analysis, and participatory design involving local educators and community leaders. The platform was tested with a sample group of Papuan youth to evaluate its effectiveness in personalizing learning experiences. Results. The AI-based platform demonstrated a significant increase in student engagement, with personalized content tailored to local customs and religious values. Feedback from participants indicated a strong connection between the learning material and their cultural identity. Conclusion. The AI-based platform is an effective tool for customizing religious education for Papuan youth, blending modern technology with traditional wisdom. This approach promotes a more engaging, culturally relevant, and personalized learning experience.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between large-scale agrarian development, the rate of deforestation, and the independence of the Marind Indigenous People’s Institution (Lembaga Masyarakat Adat/LMA) in Merauke Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants, including representatives of the LMA, affected communities, local government officials, and investors, and were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The findings reveal that large-scale agrarian projects, developed within the framework of the Food Estate Program and Plantation Investments, have significantly contributed to forest conversion and the weakening of Marind customary authority. These projects have not only caused the physical loss of forests but also the loss of the Marind people’s living space and their spiritual relationship with nature. Forests, which for centuries have constituted the core of their identity and livelihood, have now been transformed into economic assets governed by the logic of capital and state bureaucracy. Consequently, deforestation should not be understood merely as an environmental phenomenon but as a cultural and political crisis reflecting the fragility of mechanisms protecting indigenous rights. The Marind LMA often faces marginalization in land release processes, while local communities receive disproportionate compensation. This study recommends agrarian policy reforms that prioritize indigenous and environmental interests, the strengthening of customary institutional capacities, and the integration of local wisdom into land governance.

Abstract

This research analyzes the values of natural harmony in the cosmology of the Marind people of South Papua. The research object was carried out on LMA Marind and priests in the Merauke Archdiocese using a qualitative approach. The findings explain that deforestation due to the conversion of natural forests into large plantations in Merauke, South Papua has threatened the socio-cultural survival of the Marind tribe. The loss of forests as a basis for their ecological and spiritual adaptation is contrary to the principles of ecological justice and environmental sustainability in Laudato Si. Pope Francis emphasized that the earth is the common home of humanity which must be protected for the benefit of all generations. Inclusive development policy reform is needed in Merauke by meeting the needs of indigenous communities and restoring natural habitats as the main orientation, not just the interests of investors. Also, political empowerment of local communities to have control over their customary lands. Harmonization of nature conservation, the human rights of indigenous peoples, and the sustainability of cultural heritage are key amidst investment expansion. Full involvement of the indigenous Marind tribe with high understanding and responsibility is a requirement for ecological-socio-cultural sustainability in Merauke. Marind traditional ecological findings, 1) connectedness with the universe, 2) ecology is part of ancestral traditions and wisdom, 3) ecology is the balance of the ecosystem, 4) ecology is dependence on rivers and seas, 5) ecology is a connection with the supernatural.

Abstract

This research examines the relationship between learning culture, transformative learning, learning agility, work engagement, and adaptive performance among private university lecturers in Semarang. Using a quantitative approach with a sample of 184 respondents, this study applies Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for data analysis. The research results show a significant relationship between the variables studied. Learning culture has a positive effect on transformative learning and work engagement. Transformative learning and learning agility contribute significantly to adaptive performance. These findings emphasize the importance of transformative learning in increasing learning agility and adaptive performance of lecturers. This study provides valuable insight for developing strategies for improving lecturers' adaptive performance in facing the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) era. Future research is recommended to expand the scope and use a longitudinal approach for a more comprehensive understanding
