Abstract

Stunting is one of the world's nutritional challenges, particularly in impoverished and emerging countries. Stunting is an issue since it is connected with a higher risk of morbidity and mortality, as well as inadequate brain development, which leads to delayed motor development and stunted cerebral growth. The mother's health and nutritional status before and throughout pregnancy, the mother's body posture, the close spacing of pregnancies, the mother's adolescence, and poor dietary intake during pregnancy all have an impact on fetal growth and stunting risk. Stunting is influenced by the mother's nutritional expertise. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between mothers’ nutritional expertise and the toddlers’ stunting incident in Wainyapu Village. This quantitative study employed an analytical survey design and a cross-sectional approach method. The population in this study were mothers who had toddlers 12-59 months and lived in Wainyapu Village. This study employed total sampling technique, with a questionnaire on mothers’ nutritional expertise as the research instrument. The Spearman correlation test was employed during data analysis. The findings yielded that the level of mothers’ nutritional expertise was mostly in the poor category (76.9%), with the incidence of stunting in toddlers as high as (75%), and there was a significant correlation between mothers’ nutritional expertise and the toddlers’ stunting incident as shown by Spearman correlation results were 0.945 with Sig p-value <0.01. Abstract

Kata Kunci: BBLR, Nadi, Non-nutritive sucking, Nyeri Low birth weight neonates require intensive care and are usually subjected to invasive treatments such as IV instillation. This can cause pain and have an effect on cardiovascular stability by increasing pulse frequency. Non-nutritive sucking is one of the treatments available to help with this. The research that has been conducted aims to determine the effect of non-nutritive sucking on the pain response and pulse frequency of LBW babies during infusion installation in the NICU room of Mangusada Hospital. The study was conducted using a Post-test Only Control Group Design from September to October 2023, with a sample size of 32 respondents divided into 16 treatment group respondents and 16 control group respondents chosen using a purposive sampling technique. The Neonatal Infant Pain Scale Questionnaire and an oximetry equipment were used to collect data. The Mann Whitney test was used to examine the data. The results of the median pain response study in the treatment group showed lower results than the control group, reaching 2, as well as the median pulse of the treatment group showed lower results than the control group, reaching 136.5 x/min. The analysis of the effect of non-nutritive sucking on the pain response and pulse frequency of low birth weight babies during infusion yielded a p value of 0.001, indicating that non-nutritive sucking had an effect on the pain response and pulse frequency of low birth weight babies during infusion. It is intended that this research recommendation will provide input for nurses as an option to provide non-nutritive sucking to low birth weight babies to control pain during invasive procedures.  Keyword: LBW, Non-Nutritive sucking, Pain, Pulse

Abstract

Children with cancer experience various unpleasant experiences, both because of the disease and due tomedical procedures. Pediatric nurses are expected to apply the principle of atraumatic care to reduce unpleasantexperiences, such as controlling children's pain and anxiety. The aim of this study was to determine the effectof lavender aromatherapy inhalation on anxiety and pain in children with cancer who underwent infusionprocedures. This study used a quasi experimental design with non-equivalent control group design post-testonly. The sample selection used consecutive sampling at Sanglah Hospital Bali, involving 60 respondents. Theresults showed that lavender aromatherapy intervention had a significant effect on pain during infusionprocedures in children with cancer with a p value = <0.0001 (<0.05), but different results were shown inchildren's anxiety with p value = 0.523 (> 0, 05). Thus, aromatherapy intervention can be used as one of theinterventions that nurses can do in the ward to implement the Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) forpain management in children during invasive procedures.

Abstract

Elderly undergo a reduction in physical functions, especially in the musculoskeletal system, such as a decrease in muscle power, which affects their capacity to sustain body equilibrium and raises the likelihood of falling. Balance training can assist in enhancing balance by boosting muscle contractions and fiber strength, which consequently improves muscle power and helps maintain an upright posture, thus lowering the chances of falls. The goal of this research is to assess the effect of balance training on the balance level in reducing fall risk among the elderly. This study used a pre-experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 49 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection instruments included a balance level measurement sheet using the Time Up and Go Test (TUGT) and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Balance Exercise. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed a difference in the average balance level before (pretest) performing the balance exercise, which was 21.80 seconds, compared to the average balance level after (posttest) performing the balance exercise, which was 16.27 seconds. The analysis showed a calculated z-value of -6.059, which is greater than the table z-value of 1.960, with a p-value of 0.00 (p-value < 0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, concluding that balance exercises affect the level of balance in the elderly, thus reducing fall risk. It is recommended for the elderly to practice balance exercises regularly twice a week
