Reading is very important when someone study about language specifically English..EFL Students must have good reading skill to understand the meaning in a text. Most of the tests faced by students at school need the comprehending skill. Moreover, Creative Problem Solving method can empower teams of teachers and students to work together to meet the challenges of educating a heterogeneous school population. The objective of this research was to find out whether there was significant effect of Creative Problem Solving method towards students’ reading comprehension. This research was quantitative experimental research. The design was nonrandomized control group, pretest - posttest design. The samples were two classes in SMAN 11 Batam. It was used total sampling. Multiple choice of reading comprehension test was used as instrument of this research. The result showed that the t-observed is 3,98 and t-table is 2.00. It means that t-observed is higher than t-table, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The research found out that there was significant effect of Creative Problem Solving Method to students’ reading comprehension. By using creative problem, student found the problem they found and think the best solution for their problem.

The objective of this research was to describe the psychological approach of main character in Miss Brill short story by Katherine Mansfield. The result of the research was analyzed by using Freud Theory about Id, Ego, and Superego. Based on the result, the main character Miss Brill has a strange behavior that is only for attracting the people around her. She can not ignore her subconscious. She looked like happy but in fact she felt lonely. She wanted to be respected and loved by people around her and has relationship with someone. Moreover, she is an independent woman who feels lonely. Id that influences it is the happiness or willingness to get a present from someone special; she is unaware that she needs it. However, because of her loneliness Miss Brill never thinks about it. It is influenced by the superego. The superego can be understood as reflection of Miss Brill loneliness and her willingness to have relationship with other in her life. The individual Ego can differentiate itself from surroundings; it combines to form the core of the personality. Ego controls the direction of action, deciding which one will be satisfied. Characteristics do not change by the time. Moreover, the superego is the moral aspect accordance with the norms of society. It is suggested for the next researcher might be maximize the literary study for this short story to another approach. Key Words: Psychological Approach; Id; Ego;and Superego

This research was aimed to find out whether significant effect of using Spot the Dictogloss to students’ listening skill at second grade students of SMAN 17 Batam in academic years 2015/2016. The research conducted experimental research in April 2016 and was held on second grade with the number of sample was 60 students of SMAN 17 Batam. The writer used cluster random sampling technique to determine class of the research. In this research, the writer conducted in two classes, XI IIS 1 and XI IIS. The experimental class was taught listening by using spot the dictogloss, whereas the control class was taught listening by using running dictation strategy. Data was collected by multiple choice test. The result of the research showed there was a significant difference of the students’ achievement before conducted treatment which they had mean 40.5 for experimental class and 42.5 for control class. The average of the students’ achievement after conducted treatment in experimental class was 55.33 and in control class was 48.33. Based on this finding, it is suggested that spot the dictogloss could be used by the teacher to improve students’ listening skill.Keywords: spot the dictogloss, listening skill

The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is a correlation between students 'interpersonal intelligence and students' reading comprehension. The research design used in this research was quantitative correlational research. The populations in this study were 40 students of fourth semester at English Department in Academic Year 2019/2020. The population was selected by simple random sampling technique. The sample in this research was 29 students. Interpersonal Intelligence Questionnaire and Reading Comprehension Test were used as instruments of this study after the validity and reliability tests of the two instruments were conducted. The data normality test used in this study was Kolmogorov Smirnov. The researcher analyzed the correlation using the Pearson Product Moment formula to find out correlation between Students’ Interpersonal Intelligence and Students’ Reading Comprehension. The research found out that there was a significant correlation between Students' Interpersonal Intelligence and Students' Reading Comprehension of fourth semester at English department Universitas Riau Kepulauan in Academic Year 2019/2020. Suggestions were taken by researcher, namely that teachers must be aware of the importance of interpersonal intelligence in students to assist students in honing students 'interpersonal intelligence and students must realize and hone interpersonal intelligence that is in themselves.

Feminism, as a movement of a woman to demand equality and justice, fight for sexist exploitation and oppression. The movement is triggered by the awareness that the women have equal right with me. In society, woman discriminated by rules and culture. By all means, women can not accept the action of society that makes them intimidated. The methodology of the study was descriptive qualitative. Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El-Sadawi is a novel describes how hard the condition of a woman, named Firdaus, who wanted to struggle her rights, not only as a woman but also as human. The study described about feminism, a woman struggle for their rights that found in the Novel. Firdaus had to crouch, because she killed a pimp who wanted to price her, before she was on gallows. She did not feel fear of die, whereas she felt that she became a free woman without man around. She struggle for her right as woman by defending to be passive for all that accussed to her. Slang is confidential informal English, which is created and used by a society. This study discusses about an analysis of slang in the Skin movie. The purpose of this study is to find the type of slang and the reason why people / society used slang words in daily conversation. The source of the data was taken from the script of Skin movie. Skin movie was classified as a biographical drama movie released on 2018 in Tokyo and directed by Guy Nattiv. The research design used in this study is a descriptive qualitative research with a document or content analysis as the research type. This thesis is described one by one word or phrase of slang found from the Skin movie by using dictionaries and theory related to slang. From the analysis, there are fifty-two slang words found and one type of slang used, they were society slang. Then the reasons found and used in this study are at least seven types. There were in sheer high spirits, to express humour, to be different, to express surprising / shocking, to be brief and concise, to express refusal / rejection, and to show friendliness. This study highly expected to give contribution for the readers to know about slangs clearly. It can help the readers speak English fluently. Then, it can also be expected to enrich the new English vocabulary used in daily conversation.

This research was to investigate whether there is influence of demonstration method towards students speaking skills in taking simple phone message. Demonstration method gave students the opportunity to be an active student and helped other students in teaching and learning process. It is to make them good at speaking subject. Experimental research was the research type in which a quasi experimental design used. In the demonstration method, the researcher was as a teacher who taught English directly in the classroom. Furthermore, the procedures of quasi experimental research consisted of two classes, experimental class (OTKP class) and control class (TKJ class). Then, the result of research was analyzed by using t-test formula where the value of tcount was 7.46 between students who taught by using demonstration method and student who taught by using discovery learning method. Then, the mean score of students post-test in experimental class is higher than in control class. It was concluded that there found the influence of demonstration method in teaching and learning towards students’ speaking skill in taking simple phone message.

Ekoenzim menggunakan bahan baku yang mudah didapat dan murah. Proses fermentasinya yang selama 3 bulan, memang membutuhkan kesabaran tersendiri. Namun, larutan yang dihasilkan memiliki khasiat yang sangat banyak. Dalam proses fermentasinya saja, sudah terus dihasilkan gas O3 (ozon) yang sangat dibutuhkan atmosfer bumi. Larutan ekoenzim bila dicampur dengan air, akan bereaksi serta dapat digunakan sebagai cairan pembersih mulai dari piring, lantai, pakaian, kakus, sampai dengan pencuci rambut dan sabun mandi. Bila dibutuhkan, juga bisa melancarkan saluran air yang tersumbat. Campuran dengan air bila digunakan untuk menyiram tanaman akan memberi hasil buah, bunga, atau panen yang lebih baik.disamping itu juga dapat mengusir serangga-serangga pengganggu. Ampas sampah organik yang sudah difermentasi bisa digunakan sebagai pupuk organik yang baik. Selain ramah lingkungan limbah rumah tangga bisa menjadikan nilai ekonomis bagi warga RW 07 Kec.Sagulung Kota Batam karena selain lingkungan menjadi bersih juga tidak memerlukan biaya yang mahal untuk memperolehnya. Dengan memperkenalkan pengelolan limbah rumah tangga dengan ekoenzim. Manfaat yang ada dari ekoenzim adalah bisa melancarkan saluran air yang tersumbat. Elain itu, bisa juga digunakan untuk menyiram tanaman akan memberi hasil buah, bunga, atau panen yang lebih dan dapat mengusir serangga-serangga pengganggu. Ampas sampah organik yang sudah difermentasi bisa digunakan sebagai bahan untuk kebersihan dan juga sebagai pupuk organik yang baik.

Kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa sosisalisasi dan pembelajaran kepada anak-anak tentang pentingnya penguasaan Bahasa Inggris. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memotivasi anak-anak dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris di lingkungan RT 02 RW 02 Kelurahan Tanjung Buntung Kecamatan Bengkong. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tinjauan ke lapangan untuk mengetahui kondisi semangat belajar anak-anak di lingkungan setempat. Pembelajaran dilakukan dengan metode yang menyenangkan dan santai. Kemudian penghargaan diberikan untuk lebih memotivasi dengan pemberian nilai hasil tugas dan komentar positif. Ada 4 faktor yang memengaruhi termotivasinya anak-anak untuk mampu belajar lebih giat.Yang pertama, cita–cita karena merupakan motivasi untuk belajar dengan giat. Kedua adalah kemampuan belajar karena kemampuan belajar siswa harus diperhatikan tidak semua siswa mempunyai kemampuan yang sama tergantung minat dan bakat. Ketiga kondisi jasmani dan rohani merupakan faktor yang mempengaruhi belajar anak. Keempat adalah kondisi lingkungan sangat berpengaruh dalam motivasi belajar siswa. Hal tersebut memengaruhi motivasi belajar untuk anak-anak dilingkungan tersebut sehingga diperlukan kegiatan yang berinovasi agar dapat meningkatkan semangat belajar anak-anak dalam belajar.

English is very important for communication between countries so that BP batam is a government agency that cannot be separated from developing its English language skills. LPPM Unrika's collaboration with BP Batam Finance Bureau staff in implementing online English language training during the pandemic to improve English language skills. Overall service activities are carried out in a span of 6 months (July-August 2021). The post-test results obtained a conclusion that the basic English skills of the inmates were very good with an average score of 81.8, while the lowest score was 80 and the highest score was 85. When compared to the pre-test where the lowest score was 71.6 and the highest was 80, with an average of 77.1. So the average result of the pre-test and post-test scores is 79.4, so the achievement value of BP Batam's financial bureau staff increases significantly.
