The Cooperative Principle Analysis in About Time Movie Yenny Widya Sari; Afriana Afriana

This research had aimed to analyze cooperative principle by observing the characters’ utterances in About Time movie. A descriptive qualitative method was used in analyzing the data because it would be explained by words, phrases, and sentences. The data would be based on the characters’ utterances in About Time movie. In collecting the data, the researcher used the observational method and non-participatory, note-taking techniques. Pragmatic identity method was applied in analyzing the data. The result findings showed that all four maxims in cooperative principle were found through the utterances in About Time movie. The researcher found 37 data of maxims. The result indicated that there were 14 (38%) data maxim of quantity, 14 (38%) data maxim of relation, 7 (19%) data maxim of quality and 2 (5%) data maxim of manner. In summary, the most frequently data were found in the maxim of quantity and maxim of relation. The least data were found in maxim of manner. The aims of this research were to find out the types and the function of address form in the Mortdecai movie. It was a descriptive qualitative research. To collect the data, documentation and observation method are used.The source of data was the Mortdecai movie in 2015 with the action/comedy genre, the data were the dialogue in the Mortdecai movie. To analyze the data, a sociolinguistics approach was used with the theory of Gumperz, for the address form Robinson theory was used. Researchers were also using Wardhaugh's theory for the types of address form and Chaika's theory for the function of address form. The result of the research, six types of address form were found and three functions of address form were found in the Mortdecai movie. For the types of address form those were, First Name (FN), Title plus Last Name (TLN), Title alone (T), Last Name (LN), Pet Name (PN) and Kinship Term (KT), and for the function were to show intimacy, power difference, and respect. Each use of the address form was different depending on a context, relationship, or position that a person had, while the function of the address form defined the intention of the person to addressed someone. This research was made based on the number of people making mistakes in communicating in the social environment. Some errors in communication often result in ambiguity, due to the delivery of unclear information. Related to the topic the researcher made the research that analyze the flouting maxims in Wonder Woman movie and find the reason why the characters flouted the maxims by using the theory of Grice (1975). This research used qualitative descriptive method by Sudaryanto (2015) to analyze data. The results of the research showed that there were 12 data which were flouting maxims namely 1 data flouting maxim of quality, 2 data flouting maxim quantity, 2 data flouting maxim manner and 7 data were flouting maxim relations. The conclusion based on the results of this research is that all the characters in Wonder Woman movie was flouted all of the maxims, it can be seen from the result of analyzed the data, especially in the main character. The most frequently flouting maxim is maxim relation. Keywords: Communication, Cooperative Principle, Flouting Maxim.

The Covid-19 virus disease affects the entire world, including the education system and its impact on students' psychology. The goal of this study is to learn how the education system transitioned from offline or face-to-face teaching learning to online teaching-learning mode at Putera Batam University for the teaching-learning process and semester exams via online during COVID-19. In this study, the descriptive qualitative approach was used to discover students' psychology in online learning. In order to overcome these issues, the purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive picture of online teaching and learning activities taking place during the lockdown period, including the link between the change management process and online teaching and learning processes in the education system in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. Ongoing disruption and resumption of educational activities and discourse as normal procedures in the education system. The data were analyzed using Wile (Syahputri et al., 2020) and Miles Huberman and Saldana (2014). They were 110 students as respondents (B.Miles et al., 2014). The result found that students fatigued 100%, they felt headache, tired, shoulder sore 85%, demotivation 21%, withdrawal, and procrastination 70%, bad time management about 76%, and Feeling Isolated 85% and Uncertainty to what the lecturer/friends explain during the class 75%.

During the training phases, instructor deliver basics knowledge in managing websites content and processes to build it, the training includes manage the web admin section, control panel settings also distributed through training to the owners which the results expect the continuity of the development in the future. The marketing, promotion and sales media that are built based on this website are expected to be affected and boost the business possible to increase competitiveness and increase income and increase business processes efficiency in promotion or marketize the products or services and eventually increasing sales significantly.

In multilingual country, code switching is common in Indonesia. Code switching is the process of switching from one language into other language. Code switching also often appears in the English as foreign language (EFL) classroom. In learning English as EFL, the students in English course tend to switch their language. This research focuses on analyzing types of code switching and factors that cause the students to switch code by using sociolinguistic approach. The purpose of this study is to find out the types of code switching and factors that cause it in “English Time”. This research is a descriptive qualitative research in which the data are taken by observation method, specifically experimental observation, and involved conversation observation technique. The findings of the research reveal that there are three types of code switching occurred in “English Time”; tag-switching, intra-sentential switching, and inter-sentential switching. Moreover, there are eleven factors that cause the students to switch code; to emphasize a point, easy to convey a message, habitual experience, repetition to clarify a message, intimacy, affected with the addressee, to continue a pronouncement, easy to convey an idea, lack of vocabulary, to show different event, and to give explanation.

This descriptive qualitative study identified the expressive acts in Bohemian Rhapsody movie 2018. The theory from Martinez (2013) was utilized to examine the different types of expressive acts in the data source. Then, an observational approach and a non-participation technique were used to collect data for this research. The data was then evaluated using two methods. Those were pragmatic identity and pragmatic competence in equalizing. The researchers discovered 15 utterances that made by the characters in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Based on the character’s utterances, there were 5 different types of expressive acts. There were 2 acts that indicated the congratulating, 5 acts that indicated the thanking, 4 acts that indicated the apologizing, 1 act that indicated the condoling, and 3 acts that indicated the boasting. Furthermore, among the 15 utterances that had been discovered, the act of thanking became the most prominent among the other types of expressive acts.
