Abstract

The threat of extinction of regional languages in Indonesia is increasingly evident, Balinese is one of the regional languages experiencing this threat, the massive use of Indonesian and other languages is alleged to be the cause. This article discusses the maintenance of Balinese language in the Regency of West Lombok, an island next to Bali, where the Balinese language is spoken by a minority of people. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources including by speaking and listening (cakap dan simak) techniques. Data were analyzed by using qualitative methods and presented by narrative methods. The results of the study show that the Balinese language in West Lombok Regency is surviving, this is seen from various aspects, namely, Balinese ethnic children master and use the Balinese language well, the massive use of Balinese in various areas of life, and concrete steps taken to make efforts to maintain the language to the fullest.

Abstract

Wacana moderasi beragama dalam agama Hindu bukanlah hal baru, dalam agama Hindu konsep sikap tidak berlebih-lebihan dan sikap persaudaraan sudah ada jauh sebelum wacana moderasi beragama dikumandangkan. Peneliti sangat tertarik untuk meneliti analisis wacana moderasi beragama perspektif agama Hindu karena kajian analisis wacana akan mengungkap maksud dari wacana moderasi beragama yang belum diungkapkan, selain itu hal yang menjadi menarik adalah, wacana moderasi beragama sangat dekat dengan konsep keHinduan yang harus dipublikasikan pada masyarakat luas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi tentang konsep moderasi beragama dalam agama Hindu dan menganalisa wacana moderasi beragama dalam perspektif ajaran agama Hindu. Penelitian ini merupakan kajian Pustaka, sumber data berasal dari data primer dan data sekunder. Hasil penelitian disajikan dengan teknik deskriptif. Dalam agama Hindu, terdapat empat konsep moderasi beragama yaitu Tat twam asi yang diartikan sebagai persamaan harkat dan martabat manusia, Catur Paramita yang artinya sebagai empat kebaikan/kebajikan, tri hita karana artinya tiga penyebab kebahagiaan, dan vasu dewa kutumbakam yang artinya persaudaraan. Jika dianalisis maka, pada konsep tat twam asi dan vasu dewa kutumbakam penjelasannya akan berbeda jika kita berbicara sesama umat Hindu dan antara umat Hindu dengan umat nonHindu. Hal ini karena perbedaan pandangan keagamaan tentang konsep ketuhanan, konsep penciptaan manusia, karma phala, konsep punarbawa dan konsep moksa yang dikenal dengan istilah panca sradha. sedangan untuk konsep tri kaya parisudha dan catur paramita dapat dijelaskan sama antara umat Hindu dan umat nonHindu.

Abstract

The language used in tourism promotion plays a strategic role in shaping tourists’ perceptions and experiences. However, the widespread use of persuasive language in tourism promotion has the potential to lead to the manipulation of meaning. This study aims to elucidate the forms of linguistic manipulation, as well as the cognitive and psychological mechanisms that render such strategies effective in influencing tourists’ perceptions and decision-making, whilst also examining their ethical implications. The study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical design through an interdisciplinary approach integrating forensic psycholinguistics and the philosophy of language. The data consisted of 5 tourism promotional texts collected from 3 digital platforms official tourism websites, Instagram, and Facebook promoting destinations in Lombok. The corpus was selected using purposive sampling based on the publication period (January 2024–June 2026), promotional purpose, audience engagement, and the presence of persuasive linguistic features. The data were analysed using an interactive analysis model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that linguistic manipulations such as euphemisms, hyperbole, presuppositions, and framing are systematically employed to shape the image of a destination and influence tourists’ cognitive and affective processes via heuristic pathways. From a philosophy of language perspective, these practices reflect a non-neutral construction of meaning and have the potential to blur the boundaries between information and persuasion. The implications of this research underscore the importance of linguistic ethics in tourism promotion to maintain a balance between persuasive appeal and informational honesty.
