Abstract

This study discusses the existence of traditional birth attendant services in the district. Bangko till now. The purpose of this study was to describe the factors that influence pregnant women to give birth by using traditional birth attendants and also services provided by traditional birth attendants to pregnant women. This research is a descriptive type with a qualitative approach. The methods used in data collection were participatory observation and interviews, with informants, namely mothers who had given birth to traditional birth attendant and traditional birth attendant themselves. The results of the study are the factors that influence pregnant women who give birth with traditional birth attendants, namely the existence of hereditary habits, beliefs, social relations between patients and traditional birth attendants, social and economic conditions and background of mothers who give birth at a traditional birth attendant, more services for the traditional birth attendant. plenary, far health service distance with difficult transportation, and fear of using medical equipment. While the care provided by the traditional birth attendant includes examination of the patient's womb, the delivery process, and post-delivery services.

Abstract

This study examines the knowledge of Batak Toba family in feeding toddlers in Muliorejo Village, Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge of Batak Toba family in feeding toddler, how to serve toddler food, selecting toddler food and managing toddler food. The method used in this study is a holistic ethnographic method. The data collection technique used is through in-depth interviews, observation, and participation in the community, having knowledge related to research problems, and studying literature. The results of this study prove that the knowledge of Batak Toba family in feeding toddlers is very good, where parents who feed their children provide with a regular schedule in feeding, when the child is not at home or when the parents are at work, they keep fulfill the child's food by entrusting food to neighbors to give to his child, by also preparing provisions for the child.

Abstract

Covid-19 or SARS-CoV-2 is a virus that emerged at the end of 2019 and has never been identified in the human body before. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), this virus is vulnerable to attack the elderly who have high mortality and morbidity in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. In this case, of course, the elderly really need access to intense health services, especially for the elderly who have a history of chronic or degenerative diseases. One of the efforts that can be done is such as maintaining cleanliness through Clean and Healthy Living Behavior. Serdang Bedagai is one of the regencies that are included in the ten regencies that have the largest elderly population in North Sumatra. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize empowerment in these districts to improve the quality of life of the elderly during the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation method in this empowerment activity is through lectures and practice, followed by gymnastics. With this activity, the participants understood how to maintain cleanliness and health and began to implement physical activity in an effort to improve health.

Abstract

Empowering young people to start businesses with new and innovative economic models that use technology can help the country's economy. The activity approach consists of lectures and discussions carried out in stages: preparation, introduction, lecture, discussion and evaluation. This Community Service Program has completed most of its stages with positive responses from teenagers of productive age in Tembung Village. This Community Service Activity is still in the planning/initiation stage. Programs and activities include: 1) activity coordination; 2) awareness seminars on the importance of empowering productive youth; 3) socialization of tools and materials as well as the process of making merchandise products; and 4) closing, assistance with operational equipment, and installation of signage. In terms of understanding, marketing, increasing community capacity, as well as facilities and infrastructure, future projects and activities must be more comprehensive and sustainable. In addition, to increase the production capacity of goods, follow-up is required during the marketing process.

Abstract

The stunting phenomenon is a difficult task for family planning extension workers in North Padang Lawas Regency, as well as a concern for the local government to provide assistance to families at risk of stunting. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of communication competence of extension workers on the quality of Family Planning (KB) extension services in an effort to reduce the stunting and how much influence the communication competence and counseling intensity have on the service quality of family planning. The study is based on a cross-sectional study, and the population is couples of childbearing age who are the target group of assistance by family planning Extension Workers in an attempt to reduce stunting in the community. The results of the study showed that communication competence significantly impacted service quality by 38.6%. Communication competence and extension intensity had a significant impact on service quality 80.9%. The findings can be used by extension workers to improve service quality and ensure adequate competence in stunting prevention programs.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of Campaign Props (APK) in increasing public participation in the 2024 Election in Medan City, using descriptive and causal quantitative methods, such as surveys, interviews, and secondary data analysis. The results show that APK positively and significantly affects community participation, especially in young groups, men, and highly educated voters. Positive perceptions of APKs increased participation by 59.1%, although the effectiveness of APKs also depends on the design elements and transparency of the message. The research emphasizes the importance of inclusive, educational, and relevant political communication strategies to build a positive attitude toward the Election. It was found that the community's Attitude affects participation more than the number and quality of APKs alone. Therefore, it is necessary to manage APKs with a persuasive approach to strengthen public trust and the legitimacy of the democratic process.

Abstract

The E-TLE program, or Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement, is an electronic-based traffic law enforcement system designed to increase efficiency in monitoring and enforcing traffic regulations. ETLE works by using various technological devices, such as surveillance cameras installed at various strategic points, including at road intersections, along highways, or in locations prone to violations. This research aims to analyze how the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (E-TLE) program is implemented in realizing traffic order for motorists in the city of Medan and to analyze what factors hinder of the program. This research uses qualitative methods. The results of this research show that the E-TLE program is not yet fully capable of realizing traffic order for motorbike drivers because there are still factors and obstacles in its implementation, such as a lack of awareness among motorbike drivers due to not fully understanding the performance of the E-TLE program. The lack of deterrent effect received by motorists and the lack of socialization information provided by the police regarding this program has caused motorists to assume that this program is just a formality.

Abstract

This study examines the survival strategies of female daily laborers at PT. Toba Pulp Lestari following divorce. The main focus is to understand the social and economic dynamics experienced by these women as they face life challenges post-divorce. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method, utilizing in-depth interviews and participatory observations as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that female daily laborers adopt various strategies to survive, including leveraging social networks, and managing finances strictly. Support from family, local communities, and social organizations plays a crucial role in helping them cope with economic pressures and the social stigma often associated with divorce. However, the study also highlights that limited access to education and skill training poses significant barriers to improving their quality of life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the synergy among Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPDs) in the implementation of Medan Mayor Regulation No. 13 of 2012 and to identify the obstacles faced in developing the Kesawan historical tourism area. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving stakeholders from various agencies and local communities. The findings reveal that although there is a division of roles among the Tourism Office, Education Office, and Spatial Planning and Building Office, implementation remains sectoral and lacks systematic integration. Structural and cultural barriers, along with limited human resources and infrastructure, are the main challenges. This study recommends strengthening inter-agency synergy through the establishment of cross-sectoral collaborative forums, community participation, and adaptive and inclusive policy reform. These findings highlight the importance of collaborative governance as a strategic approach for the sustainable preservation of heritage areas.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis modal sosial bertahan hidup nelayan di lingkungan 15 Kelurahan Bagan Deli Kecamatan Medan Belawan. Jenis metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara mendalam serta dokumentasi. Penentuan informan dilakukan dengan kriteria tertentu (purposive sampling) yaitu nelayan pendatang dan nelayan asli yang tinggal dan menetap di Kelurahan 15 Bagan Deli Kecamatan Medan Belawan lebih dari 10 tahun serta berprofesi sebagai nelayan tradisional dan tergabung dalam paguyuban nelayan. Informan dalam penelitian ini dengan jumlah 10 orang yang terdiri dari masyarakat nelayan pendatang dan asli Bagan Deli maupun toke (pengepul). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan (trust) menjadi modal sosial yang berharga dalam masyarakat nelayan sebagai modal sosial serta sebagai strategi bertahan hidup nelayan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sehari-hari dalam paguyuban nelayan dan Pendidikan anak nelayan tidak menjadi prioritas utama bagi nelayan. Kedepannya dalam program-program pengentasan kemiskinan nelayan diperkotaan diperlukan program pengentasan kemiskinan dengan memanfaatkan kepercayaan (trust) yang dimiliki para nelayan dalam mengelola program baik pengelolaan dana ataupun program pemberdayaan nelayan. Diperlukan sosialisasi gerakan Pendidikan untuk anak nelayan untuk merubah pola pikir nelayan tentang pentingnya pendidikan di Kelurahan 15 Bagan Deli Kota Medan.
