Abstract

Christian education plays an important role in the formation of faith, character, and church community. James R. Estep, in his works, developed an approach that blends theology and pedagogy to integrate faith in the daily life of the congregation. This article aims to explore Estep's practical approach to Christian education, focusing on the integration between education and spiritual formation in the church context. The method used is a literature review of Estep's works and related sources on the theology of Christian education, as well as an analysis of its application in the context of church and society. The results of the study show that Christian education according to Estep does not only aim to transfer knowledge, but also to shape character and leadership in the church. Estep proposes that education should strengthen the church community and support mutual spiritual growth. The contribution of this study is to emphasize the importance of Christian education as a means to transform individual lives and strengthen the role of the church in the formation of a healthy and sustainable faith community. Pendidikan Kristen memegang peranan penting dalam pembentukan iman, karakter, dan komunitas gereja. James R. Estep, dalam karya-karyanya, mengembangkan pendekatan yang memadukan teologi dan pedagogi untuk mengintegrasikan iman dalam kehidupan sehari-hari jemaat. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pendekatan praktis Estep dalam pendidikan Kristen, dengan fokus pada integrasi antara pendidikan dan pembentukan rohani dalam konteks gereja. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian literatur terhadap karya-karya Estep dan sumber-sumber terkait mengenai teologi pendidikan Kristen, serta analisis penerapannya dalam konteks gereja dan masyarakat. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan Kristen menurut Estep tidak hanya bertujuan untuk mentransfer pengetahuan, tetapi juga untuk membentuk karakter dan kepemimpinan dalam gereja. Estep mengusulkan bahwa pendidikan harus memperkuat komunitas gereja dan mendukung pertumbuhan rohani bersama. Kontribusi dari kajian ini adalah penekanan pada pentingnya pendidikan Kristen sebagai sarana untuk mengubah kehidupan individu dan memperkokoh peran gereja dalam pembentukan komunitas iman yang sehat dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its vast cultural diversity, faces social challenges such as discrimination, often arising from differences in ethnicity, religion, and culture. While this diversity enriches social life, tensions between groups frequently occur, affecting social relations. Christian Religious Education (CRE) plays a crucial role in promoting tolerance and respect for differences, which is expected to help reduce discrimination in Indonesia's pluralistic society. This article aims to explore the contribution of CRE in addressing discrimination by instilling values of justice, love, and appreciation for diversity. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on literature analysis and theoretical studies related to the role of CRE in a multicultural society. The data selected were carefully chosen to ensure relevance to the topic and were analyzed to form a theoretical foundation supporting the development of this article. The research findings indicate that CRE can serve as a means to foster understanding of pluralism and the importance of tolerance in community life. Through Christian teachings on love and justice, CRE encourages individuals to respect human rights and reject discriminatory attitudes. Moreover, CRE also plays a role in educating society to engage in interfaith and intercultural dialogue, contributing to the creation of an inclusive and just community. The contribution of this article is to provide insights into how Christian religious education can be used to build deep social awareness, appreciate differences, and advocate for justice in Indonesia's plural society. Through the teachings of Christian values, CRE can be an effective tool in creating more inclusive social consciousness, strengthening social cohesion, and combating discrimination.

Abstract

This research investigates the usage of the terms Allah, Al-Ilah, and Allahumma in the Christian-Muslim Middle Eastern context before the 9th century AD. The aim of this study is to trace the historical development and theological implications of these terms within Arabic-speaking Christian and Muslim communities. The research method employed is a literature review, focusing on historical documents and inscriptions. The findings reveal that these terms were used in both religious traditions, indicating a shared linguistic and cultural heritage. Generalising these unique terms across both religions has been a major source of misunderstanding. This discussion remains relevant, not only in the context of Christian and Islamic religious language but also in the general use of Arabic within churches that use the Arabic language today, such as the Syrian and Coptic Churches in the Middle East. This article elucidates that Arab Christian communities are considered a missing link between the Christian and Islamic worlds. The research shows that the same ritual words—Allah, Al-Ilah, and Allahumma—were used before the advent of Islam. Through these Arab Christian communities, various points of contact and examples of tolerance and understanding can be clearly developed. This study contributes to a foundational theological understanding shared between Christianity and Islam, fostering interfaith dialogue and mutual respect.

Abstract

Christian religious education within the family plays a crucial role in shaping the spiritual, moral, and ethical character of children. One of the fundamental principles in Christian family education is the Shema, found in Deuteronomy 6:4–9, which emphasizes loving God with all one’s heart, soul, and strength. The Shema not only provides a foundation for a personal relationship with God but also shapes the moral character of children through the application of biblical principles in everyday life. This study aims to examine how the teachings of Shema can be applied in Christian family education and its impact on the development of children’s character in an increasingly complex social and global context. It also identifies challenges in implementing Shema and offers practical solutions for Christian families to help children face these challenges with faith and biblical values.   Contribution: This study significantly contributes to understanding the application of Shema in Christian religious education within the family. By focusing on how Shema shapes the character of children, this research not only fills a gap in the literature on Christian family education but also provides practical insights for parents on how to integrate biblical principles into daily life. Additionally, it offers guidance for churches and communities to support families in nurturing children who are equipped to face the challenges of the world with faith and Christian values. Furthermore, this study enriches the discourse on how family education can contribute to the formation of a society based on strong character and moral integrity.

Abstract

This study explores the contribution of education in ancient Israel and its application to Christian education for children today. The study begins by examining the education system in ancient Israel, including the role of parents, religious leaders, and formal institutions in imparting knowledge and moral teachings. Taking lessons from the ancient Israelites, the study then explores how these principles can be applied to Christian education today. It examines the role of parents, teachers, and the church community in fostering a nurturing and holistic educational environment. It also investigates the use of Scripture, prayer, worship, and ministry to engage children in their faith journey. The purpose of this study emphasizes the value of integrating educational wisdom and practices in ancient Israel into modern Christian education. By adopting a holistic approach that combines Scripture, experiential learning, community engagement, and character building, Christian educators can provide a solid foundation for children to develop lifelong faith, moral values, and a living relationship with God. This study used a literature review research method that investigated books and journals related to ancient Israeli education. Studi ini mengeksplorasi kontribusi pendidikan di Israel kuno dan penerapannya pada pendidikan Kristen untuk anak-anak saat ini. Studi dimulai dengan mengkaji sistem pendidikan di Israel kuno, termasuk peran orang tua, pemimpin agama, dan lembaga formal dalam menyampaikan pengetahuan dan ajaran moral. Mengambil pelajaran dari bangsa Israel kuno, penelitian ini kemudian mengeksplorasi bagaimana prinsip-prinsip ini dapat diterapkan pada pendidikan Kristen saat ini. Ini mengkaji peran orang tua, guru, dan komunitas gereja dalam membina lingkungan pendidikan yang mengasuh dan holistik. Itu juga menyelidiki penggunaan Kitab Suci, doa, ibadah, dan pelayanan sebagai sarana untuk melibatkan anak-anak dalam perjalanan iman mereka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini menekankan nilai integrasi kebijaksanaan dan praktik pendidikan di Israel kuno ke dalam pendidikan Kristen modern. Dengan mengadopsi pendekatan holistik yang menggabungkan Kitab Suci, pengalaman belajar, keterlibatan masyarakat, dan pembentukan karakter, pendidik Kristen dapat memberikan landasan yang kokoh bagi anak-anak untuk mengembangkan iman seumur hidup, nilai-nilai moral, dan hubungan yang hidup dengan Tuhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kajian pustaka yang menyelidiki buku-buku dan jurnal yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan Israel kuno.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Christian Religious Education (CRE) in Indonesia through the integration of digital media as a pedagogical and theological tool for nurturing inclusivity and tolerance in a plural society. Employing a qualitative–interpretive approach, the research combined semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and digital ethnography involving Christian educators, students, and online learning communities. This design allowed the study to capture how digital platforms influence religious formation, interfaith engagement, and ethical awareness within virtual learning environments. The findings indicate that digital media can democratize access to theological education and foster intercultural dialogue by creating new spaces of communication and collaboration. However, challenges emerge in the form of digital alienation, ethical ambiguity, and the risk of superficial spiritual engagement. Through a critical–reflective framework, the study argues that the effectiveness of digital Christian education depends on its ability to integrate technological innovation with moral discernment and theological depth. The research concludes that inclusivity in digital pedagogy is not merely a technical or institutional concern but a spiritual and ethical endeavor grounded in love, justice, and respect for human dignity. Ultimately, this study proposes a vision of “clicking for tolerance”—a model of Christian education that transforms digital spaces into environments of dialogue, compassion, and peace, contributing to Indonesia’s broader project of interreligious harmony.   Contribution: This study contributes to the development of digital theology and Christian Religious Education by offering a reflective framework for integrating faith, ethics, and technology in Indonesia’s pluralistic context. It provides practical insights for educators and policymakers on how digital platforms can become instruments of inclusion, empathy, and peacebuilding through faith-informed pedagogy.   Penelitian ini mengkaji transformasi Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) di Indonesia melalui integrasi media digital sebagai alat pedagogis dan teologis untuk menumbuhkan sikap inklusif dan toleransi dalam masyarakat yang majemuk. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif–interpretatif, penelitian ini menggabungkan wawancara semi-terstruktur, analisis dokumen, dan etnografi digital yang melibatkan para pendidik Kristen, siswa, serta komunitas pembelajaran daring. Desain ini memungkinkan penelitian untuk menangkap bagaimana platform digital memengaruhi pembentukan religius, keterlibatan lintas iman, dan kesadaran etis dalam lingkungan pembelajaran virtual. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa media digital dapat mendemokratisasi akses terhadap pendidikan teologis dan mendorong dialog antarbudaya melalui penciptaan ruang-ruang komunikasi dan kolaborasi baru. Namun, tantangan muncul dalam bentuk keterasingan digital, ambiguitas etika, serta risiko keterlibatan spiritual yang dangkal. Melalui kerangka kritis–reflektif, penelitian ini berpendapat bahwa efektivitas pendidikan Kristen digital bergantung pada kemampuannya untuk mengintegrasikan inovasi teknologi dengan kepekaan moral dan kedalaman teologis. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa inklusivitas dalam pedagogi digital bukan sekadar persoalan teknis atau kelembagaan, tetapi merupakan upaya spiritual dan etis yang berakar pada kasih, keadilan, dan penghormatan terhadap martabat manusia. Pada akhirnya, penelitian ini mengajukan visi “klik untuk toleransi” — sebuah model pendidikan Kristen yang mentransformasi ruang digital menjadi lingkungan dialog, belas kasih, dan perdamaian, serta berkontribusi pada proyek besar harmoni antaragama di Indonesia.   Kontribusi: Studi ini berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan teologi digital dan Pendidikan Agama Kristen dengan menawarkan kerangka reflektif untuk mengintegrasikan iman, etika, dan teknologi dalam konteks pluralistik Indonesia. Studi ini memberikan wawasan praktis bagi para pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan tentang bagaimana platform digital dapat menjadi sarana inklusi, empati, dan pembangunan perdamaian melalui pedagogi yang berlandaskan iman.

Abstract

- Pentecostalism, a movement that lived from the beginning, viewed the first-century church, mentioned in acts, as its paradigm. This study aims to explain morality and Pentecostal spirituality in Acts 2: 1-47. The research method used is literature review of Pentecostal morality and spirituality and Acts 2:1-47. The result is the first part of this article on the paradigm of Acts 2:1-47 which describes the charismatic empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the manifest manifestation of the gift, the mission in terms of spiritualistas. The second part addresses unique aspects of Pentecostal spirituality as a result of the paradigm of Acts 2:1-48. Pentecostal spirituality in Acts 2 is a new interpretation of the phenomenon that occurred in the early church era until today. The phenomenon is alive and moving continuously across the ages. Until finally gave birth to a contemplation, study and gave birth to a new understanding in Christianity. Pentakostalisme, sebuah gerakan yang hidup sejak awal, memandang gereja abad pertama, yang disebutkan dalam Kisah Para Rasul, sebagai paradigmanya. Kajian ini bertujuan menjelaskan moralitas dna spiritualitas Pantekosta dalam Kisah Para Rasul 2:1-47. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kajian literatur moralitas dan spiritualitas Pantekosta dan Kisah Para Rasul 2:1-47. Bagian pertama dari artikel ini tentang paradigma Kisah Para Rasul 2:1-47 yang menggambarkan pemberdayaan karismatik Roh Kudus, manifestasi nyata dari karunia, misi dalam hal spiritualistas. Bagian kedua membahas aspek-aspek unik dari spiritualitas Pantekosta sebagai hasil dari paradigma Kisah Para Rasul 2:1-48. Hasilnya adalah spiritualitas Pantekosta dalam Kisah Para Rasul 2 merupakan pemaknaan baru terhadap fenomena yang terjadi di era jemaat awal hingga saat ini. Fenomena itu hidup dan bergerak terus melintasi zaman. Hingga akhirnya melahirkan sebuah perenungan, pengkajian dan melahirkan pemahaman baru dalam kekristenan.

Abstract

Educational management is a context that shows the planning, organizing, leadership, and controlling processes. Every organization, school, or college needs to use education management to achieve its vision, mission, and goals. Implementation of manage-ment is not easy. Various factors hinder the realization of good management. The progress and decline of a school or college's quality depend on its management system. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, presents data from various kinds of literature, and conducts discussions, responses, and proposals that include strategies, leadership roles, and leading with integrity. By its fragments, it appears that the implementation of responsible education management provides substantial value for the quality and development of education in a school or college environment. AbstrakManajemen pendidikan adalah sebuah konteks yang memperlihatkan proses perencanaan, pengorganisasian, kepemimpinan, dan pengendalian. Setiap organisasi, sekolah, atau perguruan tinggi sejatinya perlu menggunakan manajemen pendidikan dalam mencapai visi, misi, dan tujuan. Pelaksanaan manajemen tidaklah mudah. Ada berbagai faktor yang men-jadi penghambat terwujudnya manajemen yang baik. Maju mundurnya kualitas sebuah sekolah atau perguruan tinggi, bergantung pada sistem manajemennya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, memaparkan data dari berbagai literatur, dan melakukan diskursus (bahasan), respons, dan proposal yang mencakup strategi, peran pemim-pin, dan memimpin dengan integritas. Tampak bahwa penerapan manajemen pendidikan secara bertanggung jawab sesuai dengan fragmen-fragmennya, memberikan nilai yang kuat bagi mutu dan pengembangan pendidikan di lingkungan sekolah atau perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Leadership becomes an important aspect in creating a church that is sturdy, growing and developing. Weak church leadership will make the church experience decline and even lead to destruction. This research was conducted to obtain an overview of the leadership applied in the Catholic Church of Ignatius Loyola and HKBP Setiabudi Jakarta. The results of this study indicate that leadership in the two churches is in a fairly good category. Good leadership becomes a strength in moving the church to grow in Christ. Good leadership as an indication the church can experience growth both in quality and quantity. Kepemimpinan menjadi aspek yang penting dalam mewujudkan gereja yang kokoh, bertumbuh dan berkembang. Kepemimpinan gereja yang lemah akan menjadikan gereja mengalami kemerosotan bahkan menunju kehancuran. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang kepemimpinan yang diterapkan di Gereja Katolik Ignatius Loyola dan HKBP Setiabudi Jakarta. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan di dua gereja tersebut berada pada kategori yang cukup baik. Kepemimpinan yang baik, menjadi kekuatan dalam menggerakkan jemaat untuk bertumbuh dalam Kristus. Kepemimpinan yang baik sebagai indikasi gereja dapat mengalami pertumbuhan baik secara kualitas maupun kuantitas.

Abstract

This paper discusses the Gnostic teachings which pose a great danger to the true faith of the Ephesians in the Epistles of Timothy and Titus. This gnostic teaching is categorized as heresy and the instructor is called heresy teacher. It was described as pervasive words, like cancer (2 Tim.2: 17). Paul writes of how dangerous the Gnostic teachings and teachers are. They pretend to know, even though they don't know anything. The disease looks for questions and worries, which causes envy, injury, slander, suspicion and strife among people who are no longer healthy and right minded (1 Tim 6: 4-5). That is why, Paul said: "stay away from them!" (2 Tim 3: 5) and in Titus 1: 11a it says, "the people must be shut up." This teaches God's people today to be careful of every teaching, because unhealthy teaching brings God's people into envy, injury, slander, suspicion and strife among people who are no longer healthy and right minded. Tulisan ini membahas ajaran gnostik yang menjadi ancaman bahaya besar terhadap iman sejati jemaat Efesus di Surat Timotius dan Titus. Ajaran gnostik ini dikategorikan sebagai ajaran sesat dan pengajarnya disebut pengajar sesat. Hal itu digambarkan sebagai perkataan yang menjalar, seperti penyakit kanker (2 Tim.2: 17). Paulus menuliskan betapa berbahayanya ajaran dan pengajar gnostik. Mereka berlagak tahu, padahal tidak tahu apa-apa. Penyakitnya suka mencari soal-soal dan bersilat kata, yang menyebabkan dengki, cidera, fitnah, curiga dan percekcokan di antara orang-orang yang tidak lagi berpikiran sehat dan benar (1 Tim 6: 4-5). Itu sebabnya, Paulus berkata: “jauhilah mereka itu!” (2 Tim 3: 5) dan dalam Titus 1: 11a dikatakan, “orang-orang itu harus ditutup mulutnya.” Hal ini mengajarkan kepada umat Tuhan pada saat ini untuk berhati-hati kepada setiap pengajaran, karena pengajaran yang tidak sehat mebawa umat Tuhan kedalam dengki, cidera, fitnah, curiga dan percekcokan di antara orang-orang yang tidak lagi berpikiran sehat dan benar.
