Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the English learning needs of students majoring in accounting at SMK Negeri 1 Ampana Kota, including target needs and learning needs. This research used a qualitative descriptive method, by distributing questionnaires to 32 students of class XI Accounting 1, interviewing the teacher and two students. This research uses the theory of Macalister and Nation, (2010). The findings from this research are, for the necessities of students is students need general English materials. For the lacks, students have difficulty finding friends who can be invited to communicate in English. Furthermore, for the wants of students is the student wants to master speaking skills in English. Then, supported by the teacher's role in fulfilling students’ learning needs is to search material from books and from internet for additional material if the books provided by the school are not completed. Furthermore, the student’s role in improving English skills, especially speaking skill is that students do not rely only on the material that has been given at school, but students can also study outside school hours by utilizing technology in the form of mobile phones or laptops, with learning concepts that are interest to each student

Abstract

This study arranged that aims to describe students’ perceptions of the use of Self-Recording Video in English class at Sintuwu Maroso University. The data used for this study is directly collected through questionnaires given to students majoring in Public Administration, Management students and Law students. This research is based on a descriptive quantitative survey method. The research questionnaire uses a 4-point Likert scale with a range of 4 to 1. The results of this study indicate that students from the three majors have positive perceptions regarding to students’ perceptions of using Self-Recording Video on motivation to learn English, perceptions of using Self-Recording Video on student creativity and overall perceptions in implementing Self-Recording Video.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the classroom interaction patterns and the dominant interaction patterns used in an EFL classroom at English Language Skill (ELS)-Poso English course. In order to analyze the data, the researchers use a theory from Ur (1996) about the patterns of classroom interaction. This research use qualitative research methods and use observations, interviews and field notes to collect the data. The subjects in this research are a tutor and 8 level two students at English Language Skill (ELS)-Poso English Course. The research results show that there are seven interaction patterns used in the level two class at English Language Skill (ELS)-Poso English Course, namely; group work, closed-ended teacher questioning (IRF/IRE), individual work, choral responses, student initiates-teacher answers, full-class interaction, and open-ended teacher questioning. The dominant interaction patterns used in level two class are group work and choral responses.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the translation strategies of idioms found in the Blind Side movie. Baker (1992) and Newmark (1988) are the theories use for the research. This research is a qualitative research method. The data in this research are the movie script and the movie subtitles. The results show that there are seven idioms and one type of translation strategy found in the movie. The translation strategy is translation by paraphrase.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan menulis dan membaca siswa kelas1 di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Tonusu dengan menggunakan media gambar. Tujuan tersebut untuk menjawab rendahnya minat baca dan menulis anak Indonesia pada umumnya dan khususnya siswa kelas1 di SDN 1 Tonusu.   Kegiatan ini telah dilaksanakan di SDN 1 Tonusu, Kec. Pamona Puselemba. Kegiatan ini telah dilaksanakan dengan cara mengadakan pelatihan selama 1 hari dengan 19 orang siswa kelas 1 SDN 1 Tonusu sebagai peserta. Pada kegiatan ini, TIM ABDIMAS menggunaan media gambar sebagai salah satu alternative tindakan dalam upaya membantu siswa terampil dalam menulis dan membaca permulaan. Media gambar yang digunakan dalam kegiatan adalah puzzle dan papan kata yang bertema buah-buahan dan hewan. Para murid sangat antusias ketika kegiatan ABDIMAS berlangsung This program aims to develop the writing and reading skills of grade 1 students at the SD Negeri 1 Tonusu by using image media. This objective is to answer the low interest in reading and writing of Indonesian children generally, and especially at grade 1 students of SDN 1 Tonusu. This program has been carried out at SDN 1 Tonusu in Pamona Puselemba Sub-district. This activity has been carried out by holding training for 1 day with 19 students of grade 1 at SDN 1 Tonusu as its participants. In this activity, the Team uses image media as an alternative action in an effort to help students become skilled in writing and reading beginnings. The picture media used in the activity are puzzles and word boards with the theme of fruits and animals. The students were very enthusiastic when the activities took place.

Abstract

In order to improve the quality of learning in the classroom, teachers need to develop their skills in applying learning methods in the learning process. Based on existing observations, many teachers still do not use learning methods in the learning process in class. Departing from this, this program aims to introduce the diagnostic learning methods to BOC (Body of Christ) Kids PAUD teachers hence that they can be used to improve the teaching quality. This learning method is introduced through training which was carried out for 2 (two) days by the head of the implementation team to improve the professional competence of BOC Kids PAUD teachers. This activity runs with the help of two implementing members. After participating in this training activity, the teachers are expected to be able to apply the strategies that have been obtained during the training to students in the class. It is hoped that teachers and students can improve the quality of good learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the STAD learning strategy on students' motivation as proven by hypothesis testing. The study uses a survey design. The research type in this study is quantitative. The population of this study are 225 and the samples are 59 students.The result of this research, it shows that STAD influences Students' Motivation 40.1%. This indicates that the null hypothesis is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Thus, the STAD learning strategy influences to improve learning outcomes and student enthusiasm for participating in learning ‘’ increasing students' sense of self-confidence

Abstract

Cocoa is an important agricultural commodity for the economy of farmers in Central Sulawesi, especially in Poso Regency. However, cocoa farming faces challenges such as low farmer competence and less-than-optimal management, particularly in its integration with livestock. Therefore, the development of environmentally friendly agricultural techniques is needed to increase cocoa production and enhance food security. The purpose of implementing the Community Partnership Empowerment (PKM) program was to improve farmers' knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding the processing of cocoa pod waste into animal feed. This participatory program focused on developing farmer resources by utilizing local potential within the Tomata Ndeme Farmer Group in Sepe Village, Lage District, Poso Regency. Results showed a significant increase in farmers' management abilities, with knowledge scores rising from 63.5 to 80.3, attitudes from 53.3 to 70.4, and skills from 24.1 to 67.6. The previously worthless cocoa pod waste is now being used as cattle feed.

Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of this research is to find out the communication strategies used by teacher in teaching Englishat SMAN 2 Poso. This research is a qualitative research that uses observation, interview and documentation to collectdata. The object of this research is one English teacher at this school that teaches English in 3 different classes. Thefindings show that the communication strategies used in teaching English is one-way communication and two-waycommunication, while the dominant one is two-way communication.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keterampilan membaca kosa kata dasar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas V di SD Negeri Tagolu, Kec. Lage menggunakan media gambar. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SD Negeri Tagolu, Kec. Lage pada Februari 2024. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan selama 1 (satu) hari pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Tagolu, yang terdiri dari 3 (tiga) sesi, yaitu sesi pre-activity dengan menyusun puzzle secara berkelompok; whilst-activity dengan pendemonstrasian poster edukasi yang menampilkan seluruh gambar dan kosakatanya dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia, dan kartu kosakata bergambar 2 (dua) sisi untuk menguji ingatan siswa terhadap kosakata Bahasa Inggris dan terjemahannya; lalu pada post activity diberikan worksheet/LKS berupa evaluasi latihan menulis Bahasa Inggris dengan metode tracing the dots. Secara umum siswa mampu mengerjakan butir-butir soal pada worksheet/LKS. Mereka dapat melakukan metode tracing the dots, dan dapat mengingat nama kosa-kata pada gambar-gambar yang disediakan. Sehingga kegiatan pelatihan membawa dampak positif dan meningkatkan kemampuan membaca dan menulis kosakata Bahasa Inggris melalui poster bergambar sebagai media pembelajaran
