Abstract

Professional nurses are confronted with the demand for responsibility and accountability in every action they take. The workload of nurses is extensive when providing nursing care. Documentation is considered complete if the recording is done according to hospital standards. The phenomenon that occurs is that some reasons become obstacles for nurses, including the large amount of documentation that needs to be written and filled out, sometimes overwhelming nurses. Additionally, the imbalance between nurses and patients, specific rooms are always full of patients while the number of nurses on duty is insufficient. As a result, there is a risk of a decrease in the quality of documentation, affecting the accuracy and completeness of nursing records. Based on the Chi-Square test results, the p-value obtained is 0.000 or the significance level of p < 0.05, thus Ha is accepted. The conclusion of the study is that there is a relationship between the workload of nurses and the completeness of nursing care documentation in the infectious and non-infectious inpatient rooms of RSUD dr. Murjani Sampit. It is hoped that nurses can improve their nursing performance in providing holistic nursing care and record it in writing according to the nursing care format.

Abstract

This study focused on how interlanguage pragmatics (ILP) is manifested in a multicultural environment. Learners ability to make requests has received considerable attention in ILP research because requests are intrinsic face-threatening acts. The question this study aimed to address was to what extent a culture has an impact on the direct and indirect level of request strategies. The data were collected from thirty participants (fifteen males and fifteen females) representing five nationalities (Russian, Indonesian, Pakistani, Jordanian, and Hungarian) and studying at the University of Pannonia. The Discourse Completion Test (DCT) developed by Hendriks (2002) was used as an instrument, containing different situations to which the participants had to respond. The linguistic and cultural background of the participants was identified using an online tool, namely the Language History Questionnaire. The participants responses were then recorded and transcribed. The direct and indirect levels of the requests were analyzed by categorizing the head act and the internal (syntactic and lexical) and external modifiers. The data showed that the participants generally used more indirect strategies in making requests (86.2% indirect, 13.8% direct), especially those from Indonesia. Participants from Pakistan were the most direct in making requests. Moreover, they used more external modifiers than other participants to compensate for their directness.

Abstract

Anxiety in speaking English is a common problem experienced by students, especially at the junior high school level, and can hinder their language learning process. Therefore, it is important to identify the underlying factors that underlie the appearance of students' anxiety in speaking English. This study aims to explore and analyze the factors that cause anxiety in English speaking in grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Pelepat Ilir. This study uses a qualitative research design with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and observations. Using the Interview Guideline and Observation Sheet instruments. The study participants consisted of five students who were selected purposively based on criteria such as low academic achievement and lack of confidence. The analysis technique is based on Miles and Huberman 1994, with thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke 2006. The results of the study show that there are four main factors that cause students' anxiety, namely fear of making mistakes, lack of confidence, nervousness, and low motivation. These findings confirm the importance of creating a supportive learning environment and a positive teaching approach to help students overcome anxiety in speaking English. It was found that there was a dominant factor that had the most influence on students. One of them is the factor of lack of internal trust where there is an external cause. All four students have explained the reasons why they feel less confident. Namely lack of understanding of the material, fear of being the center of attention in class, and feeling insecure. This lack of confidence is also shown on the pitch. This factor becomes dominant because almost all students feel anxious, causing students to become less confident when trying to speak English in front of the class.
