Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding ramie rope powder on the Marshall characteristics of Asphalt Concrete-Wearing Course (AC-WC) mixtures using a combination of Buton asphalt and penetration grade 60/70 asphalt. The study was conducted using variations of ramie rope powder content of 0%, 1%, and 2%. The research methods included asphalt and aggregate material testing, AC-WC mix design, specimen preparation, and Marshall testing consisting of stability, flow, VIM, VMA, VFB, and Marshall Quotient (MQ). The results showed that the addition of ramie rope powder affected the Marshall characteristics of the asphalt mixture. The stability value changed in each variation of the mixture, while the flow value tended to increase as the ramie rope powder content increased. The use of ramie rope powder in AC-WC mixtures is expected to be an environmentally friendly alternative additive material that can improve pavement performance

Abstract

Bungkul Park in Surabaya is a public space with high community activity that increases parking demand. The high number of vehicles and the presence of cash parking practices without official tickets may lead to revenue leakage in local parking retribution. The study aims to analyze parking characteristics and evaluate the potential implemantation of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) non-cash payment system to increase parking retribution revenue in the Bungkul Park area. This research used a quantitative method through field surveys to obtain data on parking volume, parking accumulation, parkng duration, parking capacity, and parking turnover rate. The results show that parking activity in Bungkul Park is relatively high, especially on weekends. The average parking duration ranges from 3,75 to 3,79 hours, with weekday parking volumes of 177 motorcycles and 111 cars, while weekend volumes increase to 319 motorcyles and 84 cars. The potential parking reribution revenue is estimated at Rp. 719.232.500 per years using fixed tarif system and can increase to Rp. 753.360.000 year with a progressive tariff system. The implementation of QRIS based non-cash payments is expacted to improve transaction transparancy and minimize parking revenue leakage, thereby supporting the increase of Surabaya’s Regional Original Revenue (PAD).

Abstract

Abstract

Traffic congestion at signalized intersections has become a major challenge in urban transportation, particularly at intersections affected by heavy traffic demand and railway crossing operations. This study evaluates the operational performance of the Ahmad Yani–Margorejo Indah signalized intersection in Surabaya and compares the effectiveness of two traffic engineering alternatives: signal timing optimization and underpass construction. The analysis was conducted using the 2023 Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023) based on intersection geometry, peak-hour traffic volume, vehicle composition, roadside friction, signal timing, and railway crossing characteristics. The existing condition indicated oversaturated traffic flow with a maximum degree of saturation of 1.56 during the evening peak hour, resulting in excessive delays, long vehicle queues, and Level of Service (LOS) F. Signal timing optimization improved traffic performance by redistributing effective green times among signal phases; however, several approaches remained oversaturated. In contrast, the underpass alternative significantly reduced traffic conflicts, increased roadway capacity, lowered the degree of saturation, and virtually eliminated intersection delays. The findings demonstrate that underpass development provides the most effective long-term solution for improving intersection performance under high traffic demand. This study contributes practical insights for selecting appropriate traffic engineering strategies for complex urban signalized intersections.
