Abstract

Hypnobirthing, a self-hypnosis practice aiding natural childbirth, lacks sufficient empirical evidence on its efficacy in mitigating labor pain, particularly during active phase I. This quasi-experimental study assessed hypnobirthing's effectiveness using a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design with 30 primi delivery mothers. Results indicated a significant reduction in pain levels (p = 0.000) among the hypnobirthing group compared to controls, emphasizing its potential as a non-pharmacological pain management tool. Integrating hypnobirthing into midwifery practice could enhance birthing experiences and mitigate risks associated with pathological labor, suggesting avenues for further research into its broader applicability and long-term effects. Highlight: Significant Pain Reduction: Hypnobirthing reduces active phase I labor pain significantly. Non-Pharmacological Tool: Effective alternative to pharmacological pain management during childbirth. Midwifery Practice: Enhances birthing experiences and reduces future pregnancy complications. Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between diet, medical history, and nutritional status in 48 children aged 3-5 from Kindergarten Tegalasri Village, Blitar Regency. Using observational analysis with a cross-sectional approach, data on eating habits and medical records were collected. The results, analyzed using chi-square tests, indicated no significant correlation between diet or viral disease history and the children's nutritional status. These findings suggest that factors beyond diet and infections may play a more significant role in determining the nutritional status of children in this demographic, highlighting the need for further research and targeted interventions to promote better nutritional outcomes Highlight: Children's Nutrition: Diet and Medical History Impact on Well-being. Abstract

Stunting is malnutrition related to nutritional insufficiency in the past so that nutritional problems are chronic. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is higher than other ASEAN countries, ranking fifth in the world. Functional food can be used as an alternative in preventing toddler stunting, one of which is by adding Moringa leaves to the snacks that toddlers like, namely sempol and pudding. The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical characteristics of moringa leaf-based snacks, namely sempol and pudding. The study uses a nested design with two factors. The first factor is the type of preparations, namely sempol and pudding, while the second factor is the concentration of the addition of Moringa leaves, namely 5%, 10% and 15%. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and minitab. The research results showed no significant effect on the values of water content, ash content, protein and fat content in sempol and moringa pudding. Based on the test results, the water content of sempol with moringa 15% is 54%, with an ash content of 2.11%, a fat content of 1.56% and a protein content of 36.58%. Meanwhile, 15% Moringa pudding has a moisture content of 77.5%, ash content of 0.36%, fat content of 5.97%, and protein content of 17.26%. Highlights: Prevalence of Stunting: Stunting is a critical malnutrition issue, especially in Indonesia, ranking fifth globally among ASEAN countries, highlighting the urgent need for effective interventions. Functional Food Approach: Incorporating Moringa leaves into popular toddler snacks (sempol and pudding) offers a potential solution to combat stunting through improved nutritional value and dietary diversity. Chemical Characteristics Study: The research examines the impact of Moringa leaf concentration (5%, 10%, 15%) on water, ash, protein, and fat content in both snacks, providing valuable insights into their nutritional profiles. Abstract

ABSTRACTGeneral Background: Maternal mortality is associated with obstetric complications, including postpartum hemorrhage caused by birth canal trauma. Specific Background: Perineal rupture occurs in approximately 75% of vaginal deliveries in Indonesia and is associated with parity, maternal age, fetal weight, and perineal elasticity. Perineal massage using virgin coconut oil (VCO) is considered a nonpharmacological approach to maintain tissue flexibility. Knowledge Gap: Empirical evidence examining VCO-based perineal massage for preventing perineal rupture remains limited. Aims: This study evaluated perineal massage with VCO for preventing perineal rupture among pregnant women. Results: A quasi-experimental post-test only non-equivalent control group design involving 56 pregnant women at 34–38 weeks of gestation was conducted. The intervention group received weekly 10-minute massage. The intervention group showed 64.3% without rupture, while 70.4% of the control group experienced rupture, with a significant association (p = 0.021; OR = 0.234). Novelty: This study provides clinical evidence supporting VCO-based perineal massage as an antenatal preventive method. Implications: Integration of this technique into antenatal care may support safer vaginal delivery and reduce birth canal trauma. Highlights: Weekly Intervention Beginning at 34 Weeks Shows Lower Incidence of Birth Canal Tearing. Participants Receiving the Procedure Demonstrated Higher Rates of Intact Tissue During Delivery. Statistical Testing Identified a Significant Association Between Antenatal Manual Therapy and Tissue Integrity Outcomes. Abstract

General Background: Preeclampsia remains a major contributor to maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide, particularly in developing countries, and continues to challenge antenatal health services. Specific Background: In Indonesia, the incidence of preeclampsia is substantial, and clinical observations indicate that maternal characteristics such as parity, body mass index (BMI), and antenatal care (ANC) attendance are frequently associated with its occurrence. Knowledge Gap: Previous findings have shown inconsistencies regarding the magnitude and pattern of associations between these maternal factors and preeclampsia, necessitating further contextual evidence from local healthcare settings. Aims: This study aimed to examine the relationship between parity, BMI, and ANC history with preeclampsia among third trimester pregnant women at a hospital in Sidoarjo. Results: Using a cross-sectional analytic design with 250 respondents selected through simple random sampling, chi-square analysis demonstrated statistically significant associations for parity (p=0.022), BMI (p=0.000), and ANC history (p=0.000). Primigravida mothers had 2.157 times higher odds of preeclampsia compared to multigravida, while obesity and incomplete ANC were also significantly associated.  Novelty: This study provides updated hospital-based evidence quantifying comparative odds across three maternal factors within a single analytic model. Implications: Strengthening antenatal surveillance, nutritional monitoring, and targeted counseling for first pregnancies may support maternal health strategies aimed at reducing preeclampsia-related complications. Highlights: First pregnancy status showed the highest odds ratio among examined maternal characteristics. Obesity category demonstrated a statistically significant association in chi-square testing. Incomplete pregnancy checkups were linked with higher occurrence proportions in the observed cohort. Keywords:Parity; Body Mass Index; Antenatal Care; Preeclampsia; Maternal Health
