Abstract

This service activity aims to improve the capability of local tour guides in buffer villages in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area. One of the locations chosen by the Service team is Wonokitri Village, which is located close to the tourist destination of Mount Bromo. Based on the results of field observations, there are several problems why Wonokitri Village is only able to survive as a 'transit village' which is indicated by the low occupancy of tourists staying at local guest houses. This is due to the low communication skills of local tour guides to attract both domestic and foreign tourists to stay longer in Wonokitri Village. In fact, based on the narrative of local residents, they are trying to develop other tourist objects that are expected to be able to support the local economy. Through this service activity, the Proposing Team arranged a series of mentoring and training activities for members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Wonokitri Village, Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency. The service activities consist of first, training in communication skills for tour guides and tourism actors (owners of guest houses, stalls, and souvenir sellers). Second, assistance in making social media as a promotional media, branding as well as local tourism marketing. Finally, thirdly, English language skills training in the context of tourism for tour guides and other tourism actors. The outputs of this activity are publications in the mass media, activity documentation, scientific articles presented at national seminars, and scientific articles published in accredited national journals.

Abstract

Political gimmicks have become a trendy yet controversial term in the 2024 presidential election contest. Instead of conveying the vision and mission of presidential candidates, political gimmicks only present and show skin packaging rather than substance. This research aims to reveal the practices of political gimmicks on social media in the 2024 Indonesian presidential election contestation using critical discourse analysis as a method. This method is used to reveal ideology and power relations from gimmicks that appear on social media. Data collection in this study used documentation techniques, in the form of data collection from social media X during the period December 2023 - February 2024. The study's findings demonstrate that the Republic of Indonesia's 2024 presidential and vice-presidential candidates' political communication efforts on social media X are mired in creating symbols disconnected from meaningful and substantial ideas. Drawing on Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical theory, this study frames political gimmicks as "front stage" performances designed to manipulate voter perceptions, obscuring substantive political agendas. Political communication for presidential candidates has shifted from addressing social issues and strengthening democracy to becoming manipulative tactics aimed at winning votes

Abstract

Pada masa pandemi, salah satu tantangan dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar adalah transfer materi dari guru ke siswa. Kurangnya tatap muka membuat guru harus mampu menguasai berbagai media pembelajaran alternatif baru. Sayangnya, tidak semua guru memiliki keahlian tersebut. Hal serupa juga dialami oleh guru di SMAN 1 Sampang. Karenanya, diperlukan strategi untuk meningkatkan kemampun guru dalam membuat materi pembelajaran daring menggunakan aplikasi komputer. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan salah satu upaya meningkatkan kapasitas guru rumpun ilmu sosial di SMA Negeri 1 Sampang melalui Program Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan (PPKB). PPKB dipandang sebagai salah satu Langkah untuk meningkatkan kapasitas dan profesionalisme pendidik. Adapun metode peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam pembuatan video pembelajaran daring berbasis aplikasi komputer antara lain: 1) Pre-test dan Focus Group Discussion, 2) Seminar Pengenalan OBS, 3) Praktik Pengoperasian Aplikasi OBS, 4) Pendampingan pembuatan video pembelajaran, 5) Evaluasi dan Pos-test, 6) Monitoring. Dari pelaksanaannya, didapatkan bahwa melalui PPKB, guru semakin termotivasi untuk membuat materi pembelajaran daring yang menarik bagi siswa, yakni berupa audio visual melalui OBS. Melalui PPKB guru mengalami peningkatan kompetensi untuk membuat video pembelajaran alternatif.
