Abstract

Adolescence is a golden period with optimal growth and development. At this time, teenagers have very important physical and psychological needs. Moreover, if there is malnutrition, one of the problems is anemia. Anemia is a global public health problem that affects adolescent girls, women of childbearing age, pregnant women, and children in developed and developing countries. This study aims to analyze the correlation between inhibitor and enhancer consumption and anemia in adolescent girls. This is a cross-sectional study conducted in Semarang City. Early adolescents ages 10 – 15 years old, and fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected using a questionnaire. Consumption of inhibitors and enhancers of iron was measured using a semi-qualitative food frequency questionnaire. Anemia status was measured using a digital hemoglobin meter device. The Chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test were used to analyze the research data. The result of this study shows there is no significant correlation between the consumption of inhibitors and enhancers of iron toward anemia status among adolescent girls with p-values 0.158 and 0.744 α (CI:95%) respectively. Adolescents should be concerned about what they consume, and information about what food can enhance and obstruct iron should be socialized so they can wiser to reduce consuming inhibitors and increase consumption enhancers of iron.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are significant because if the growth and development process at that time is optimal, it will produce healthy adolescent girls and in the end, it will produce healthy mothers to be as well. Adolescents tend to want to have an ideal body so neglect a healthy diet, followed by dense adolescent activities that make adolescent girl potentially experience health problems such as anemia so that researchers innovate drinks in the form of tomato juice and dates to increase hemoglobin levels apart from supplementation Fe. The type of this research is quantitative research. Quasi-experimental research design with pre-test design and post-test design with a control group. The sample in this study was Semarang Poltekkes students who lived in Semarang Poltekkes Dormitory and were aged 17-21 years and not menstruating. The sampling technique is by using purposive sampling techniques. The data analysis used is using an independent sample t-test. The results showed that there was no significant (p=0,309) effect of giving a combination of tomato and date juice on hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls. However, there was an increase in average hemoglobin levels before and after the intervention of juice and iron suplementation. The results of this study are expected that adolescent girls obediently consume Fe tablets according to the provisions. Apart from supplementation, young women can also consume fruits that contain iron such as dates, and contain vitamin C such as tomatoes to help absorb iron.

Abstract

Introduction: In Indonesia, one of the efforts to prevent risky sexual behavior is to providereproductive health education among adolescents. One of the programs that collaborate withschools in providing reproductive health education is the pelayanan kesehatan ramah remaja(PKRR) organized by the Dinas Kesehatan. However, studies on the evaluation of the PKRRprogram among early adolescents in Indonesia have not been widely studied. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted on 14 early adolescents, 1 provider and 1practitioner PKRR in November 2019-February 2020. Data were collected by Focused GroupDiscussion (FGD) and semi-structured interviews using the RE-AIM framework. Data wasanalyzed using Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen method in Nvivo 12 software.Result: The advantage of this program is that it can reach the target of early adolescents inthe school. One of the weaknesses of this program is the limited time when socialization wascarried out in schools. In addition, another weakness is the implementation at the communitylevel, in the form of Posyandu remaja and counseling. It is difficult to reach early adolescentsin the community level, because there is a feeling of shame to come to the place of services. Conclusion: This evaluation succeeded in revealing the needs of adolescents forreproductive health information, including the desire of adolescents to better understandreproductive health. The implication of this study is that there is a need for improvement in theimplementation of the PKRR program. Improvements include the addition of comprehensivesexual education, cross-sectoral collaboration and the regeneration of young implementersfor better implementation. Keywords: Evaluation, Early Adolescents, PKRR, Reproductive Health Education, RE-AIM.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is still a complex health problem in Indonesian women. Themost common cause of anemia in pregnancy is lack of nutrients in the body.Pharmacological treatment has side effects faster than non-pharmacologicaltreatment. Natural products that are traditionally used as an additional intake in theprevention of anemia, for example there are dragon fruit, green beans, and so on.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness comparisonbetween consumption of dragon fruit and mung bean juice on increasing Hb levels inanemia pregnant women in the Mranggen II Public Health Center, Demak Regency. This type of research is quantitative research with a research design using Two GroupPretest Posttest Design. The population in this study were pregnant women withanemia. Sampling using the entire population of as many as 40 respondents. Givingdragon fruit in the form of pieces shows 100% of the ingredients used and green beansare made by boiling to get the juice from the green beans. The research instrumentwas the Easy Touch Hb test as a measuring tool for Hb levels. Data analysis usedPaired T-Test / T-dependent test.Result: The results showed that the average hemoglobin level of pregnant womenwith anemia in the intervention group before being given Dragon Fruit had a Meanvalue of 10.241 g/dl, while after the intervention the Mean value became 11.125 g/dl.The Hb level in the control group before being given Mung Bean Extract had a Meanvalue of 10.825 g/dl while after being given Mung Bean Extract the Mean valuebecame 11.266 g/dl. The results of the statistical test using the Independent T-Testbetween the two intervention groups and the control group showed p-values 0.539which means there is no difference in the effectiveness of giving Dragon Fruit andGreen Bean Extract to increase Hb levels in pregnant women with anemia. Keywords: Dragon fruit, Green Beans, Increased Hb levels, pregnancy

Abstract

Background: Growth is related to the size of physical body structures, while development is an interaction of organ functions such as motor development, language, socialization, and emotions. Stimulation is part of a post-natal environmental factor that is associated with psychosocial factors. From 32 weeks of pregnancy to 2 years of age is the most important stage in the motor development of the child where there is the fastest myelination process in the child's development. The phenomenon that is happening today is that parents lack an understanding of how to perform proper stimulation and have limited knowledge about child development. So there's a need for a medium that can help parents learn how to do the right stimulation so that the child can go through the developmental stages of his or her age.The aim of this study is to find out the impact of video stimulation of growing and development children. Metods: This method of research uses the research type Quasi Experimental Design. The subject of this study is a parent who has a child aged 6-24 months divided into two groups. (control and experiment). Respondents will receive health education related to stimulation of child development by lecture methods (control), and by video media (eksperimen). Results: The discrepancy between pretest and posttest (control and intervention groups), which are unmatched data, was analysed using the Mann-Whitney test. The analysis obtained p=0.219 (p>0.05) showed no effect of video stimulation on the growth of children aged 6-24 months. Video media did not give a more significant influence when compared to leaflet media on the control group. Conclusion: There is an effect of growth and development stimulation videos and leaflets on the development of toddlers aged 6-24 months. But there is no significance of the difference between the two tools, namely growth and development stimulation videos and leaflets on the development of toddlers aged 6-24 months.

Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls is a global public health issue that affects nutritional status and future reproductive outcomes. Adolescents with anemia are at higher risk of delivering stunted offspring, making anemia prevention essential in breaking the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with anemia among adolescent girls as an effort to prevent stunting. This cross-sectional study was conducted at SMPTQ Pangeran Diponegoro, Semarang, from August to December 2023. A total of 92 female students aged 10–15 years who met the inclusion criteria were selected using total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and physical measurements, including hemoglobin levels, BMI, MUAC, and dietary intake. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests (α = 0.05). The prevalence of anemia was 25%. Menstrual duration was significantly related to anemia (p = 0.041; RR = 2.188). Other factors (BMI, MUAC, breakfast habits) were not significant. Menstrual duration was significantly associated with anemia among adolescent girls. School-based anemia screening and nutrition education are recommended to prevent anemia and future stunting.
