Abstract

In recent years, the global financial system has increasingly integrated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles to align economic progress with environmental sustainability. One of the most significant developments in this area is the emergence of green financing—a financial approach that channels investments towards environmentally friendly and climate-resilient projects. This study aims to examine the role of green financing in promoting sustainable economic development, focusing particularly on its implementation, benefits, and challenges within the context of developing countries like Indonesia.Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research combines literature analysis with in-depth interviews involving practitioners from Islamic financial institutions, environmental NGOs, and public policy experts. The findings reveal that green financing plays a pivotal role in supporting initiatives such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly infrastructure. Additionally, the study highlights how green financial instruments like green bonds and green sukuk not only contribute to environmental goals but also offer long-term economic benefits through risk reduction and improved investor confidence. However, the implementation of green financing faces several barriers, including weak regulatory frameworks, limited financial literacy among stakeholders, and the lack of standard criteria for evaluating "green" projects. Despite these challenges, green financing has demonstrated its potential as a strategic tool for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in combating climate change, reducing carbon emissions, and fostering inclusive growth. This study concludes that to maximize the impact of green financing, a collaborative effort is needed among governments, financial institutions, and civil society to create an enabling environment through policies, incentives, and educational outreach. Green financing, if well-integrated, can serve not only as a catalyst for environmental protection but also as a cornerstone for sustainable and resilient economic systems.

Abstract

Abstract

This study is aimed to assess the efficacy of employing local storytelling to enhance the speaking skills of grade XII students in an English language classroom, involving 18 participants from a Pivate School in Medan. Utilizing the action research method, the study implemented two intervention cycles centered on local stories, namely "The Legend of Malin Kundang" and "The Origin of Lake Toba." Pre-tests and post-tests were administered to evaluate fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Surprisingly, results indicated a decline in speaking scores across both cycles, falling short of the target score of 75. Despite attempts to engage students through storytelling, challenges like insufficient participation, attention, and confidence impeded the intervention's effectiveness. This highlights the need for supplementary strategies beyond storytelling to enhance speaking skills effectively. The findings contrast with prior research advocating for storytelling's efficacy in improving speaking skills, necessitating the exploration of alternative approaches such as interviews and group discussions. Acknowledging limitations, the study underscores the necessity for broader, more diverse research samples to generalize findings across educational contexts.

Abstract

The financial statement fraud case in Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) raises concerns related to transparency and accountability of corporate governance. This phenomenon indicates a gap between strict regulations and weak supervision implementation. Previous studies have shown inconsistent results related to factors affecting financial statement fraud, so further studies are needed. This study analyzes the influence of return on assets (ROA), independent commissioners, and company size on financial statement fraud, and it evaluates the audit committee's role as a moderation variable. Using panel data regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA), this study processed data from 29 state-owned companies listed on the IDX for 2018–2023. The study results showed that ROA and Company Size positively affected financial statement fraud, while Independent Commissioners had a negative effect. The Audit Committee has been proven to weaken the negative impact of ROA and Company Size and strengthen the influence of Independent Commissioners in reducing fraud. This study expands the application of Agency Theory in the context of SOEs. It emphasizes the importance of strengthening supervision through the Audit Committee and Independent Commissioners to prevent the manipulation of financial statements.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, which over time causes serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Vitamin D is thought to affect glucose metabolism, reduce ß-cell function, and increase insulin resistance and glucose intolerance. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between vitamin D levels and the degree of wounds in patients with diabetes mellitus at the Kitamura Clinic, Pontianak. Methods: This research method is a quantitative descriptive method. Results: This study showed that the majority of patients with diabetic foot ulcers at the Kitamura Clinic Pontianak had normal vitamin D levels (86.7%), while 10% had low levels, and 3.3% had high levels. Most of the wounds were at a severe level, namely grade 3 (33.3%) and 4 (30%). Spearman correlation analysis showed a negative relationship between vitamin D levels and wound severity (r = -0.267), but this relationship was not statistically significant (p = 0.153). Conclusion: This study concluded that vitamin D levels were not significantly associated with the severity of diabetic foot ulcers.
