Abstract

Patient safety in surgical procedures is a critical element that must be addressed by medical professionals, including anesthesiologists. The World Health Organization's (WHO) Surgical Safety Checklist (SSC) is designed to enhance patient safety during surgery, but its implementation still encounters several challenges, such as insufficient training and limited resources. This study aims to improve anesthesiologists’ understanding and compliance with the SSC through the use of educational video media. The research methods involved socialization, video-based training, hands-on practice, and evaluation with a participatory approach. The participants were anesthesiologists who received a structured training session using videos that explained the SSC steps and emphasized its importance. Pre- and post-training assessments were conducted to measure changes in understanding and compliance.The results demonstrated a significant improvement in both the anesthesiologists’ understanding and compliance with the SSC after the training. The average understanding score increased from 60.5 to 85.3, while compliance rose from 55.2 to 88.7. These findings indicate that educational videos are an effective tool for enhancing anesthesia service quality and increasing medical personnel’s access to training. The study emphasizes the importance of technology-based education to overcome barriers related to limited resources and training opportunities. Based on these results, the study recommends the implementation of similar video-based educational methods in training programs for other medical personnel, aiming to improve patient safety across various healthcare settings.

Abstract

Pain and anxiety are common complaints experienced by patients after spinal anesthesia. One non-pharmacological method that can be used to reduce pain and anxiety is lavender aromatherapy. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of lavender aromatherapy in reducing pain and anxiety levels in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach in a single group without a control group. A total of 50 patients undergoing spinal anesthesia received lavender aromatherapy through a diffuser for 15-30 minutes before and after the anesthesia procedure. Pain levels were measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and anxiety levels were assessed using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). The results showed a significant reduction in patients' pain and anxiety levels after the administration of lavender aromatherapy (p < 0.05). Therefore, lavender aromatherapy is proven to be effective as a non-pharmacological method to help reduce pain and anxiety in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia.

Abstract

Post-anesthesia pain is a common complaint experienced by patients after undergoing surgical procedures. Effective pain management is necessary to improve patient comfort and accelerate the recovery process. One non-pharmacological method that can be used is distraction relaxation therapy, which aims to divert the patient's attention from pain sensations, thereby reducing pain perception. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of distraction relaxation therapy in reducing post-anesthesia pain levels. The method used was a pre-test and post-test design with an intervention consisting of deep breathing techniques, relaxation music, and visualization. The results showed a significant reduction in pain levels after the application of distraction relaxation therapy. Therefore, this therapy is recommended as an adjunct method in post-anesthesia pain management to improve the quality of patient care.

Abstract

Educational institutions cannot be separated from the external environment, such as a multicultural society. Therefore, educational institutions play an important role in internalizing the values of diversity. This qualitative study aimed to explore the strategic management of Darus Sholawat Tahfidz's House in Internalizing Diversity Values of multicultural society. A total of five interviewees of tahfidz’s house asatidz participated in indepth interviews. Data were analyzed using an inductive approach for thematic analysis. This study found the fact that the internalization of diversity values was carried out using a strategic management approach that includes planning, implementation, and evaluation. At the planning stage it is carried out by compiling and planning educational activities by adhering to moderate Islamic wasathiyah values. The internalization of the values of religious moderation is implemented in learning activities and public relations programs at tahfidz,s house. At the evaluation stage it is not only limited to looking at the results, but refers to the context evaluation (evaluation context assessment), input evaluation (assessment of input), process evaluation (evaluation of process), and product evaluation.

Abstract

This study focuses on analyze of character education management at Islamic Boarding School Bustanul 'Ulum Jayasakti Anak Tuha Lampung Tengah. The importance of character education has been widely acknowledged in shaping well-rounded individuals with strong moral values, in line with Islamic teachings at Islamic boarding school. The purpose of this research is to analyze how Bustanul ‘Ulum Islamic Boarding School implemented character education through systematic management practices. This type of research is qualitative research with case study approach. The data were obtained through interview, observation, and documentation. The research subjects were selected using purposive sampling involving interviews with key stakeholders, including the pesantren’s management, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that the pesantren has successfully integrated character education into its curriculum, daily activities, and spiritual practices. Through a collaborative process, the management ensures the alignment of character education with national educational standards, fostering a holistic development of students. Regular evaluation and supervision play a crucial role in assessing the effectiveness of the programs. The study concludes that the management of character education at Bustanul ‘Ulum Islamic Boarding School Jayasakti serves as a model for other Islamic boarding schools, demonstrating the importance of structured, consistent efforts in character development for students

Abstract

Monazite (Ce, La, Nd, Th)PO4 with thorium (Th) content between 3-4 % is significant enough to be processed to produce Th. The initial treatments conducted by using carbonate base reagents (Na2CO3) for monazite leaching to fetch the uranium. The remaining tailings were dissolved with sulfuric acid to produce Th(SO4)2 solution which is then purified from its impurities. The processing is carried out continuously using a mixer settler with the process steps include Th extraction, Th stripping, and organic solvents regeneration. Thorium extraction uses a primene JM-T (RNH2) organic solvent which is a mixture of 0.15M Primene JM; 5% Tridecanol and 95% Kerosine. Meanwhile, the Th stripping process uses 2M HCl solution. For efficiency, regeneration of organic solvents uses 1% H2SO4. To obtain a high recovery and purity from Th, it is necessary to calculate the number of stage mixer settlers using the McCabe Thiele method. Based on the calculation, the number of stage for extraction process, Th stripping, and organic solvents regeneration are 3, 3, and 2 respectively. The total recovery of Th is obtained at 84.90 % where product purity reaches 99.02 %
