Abstract

In this paper we consider single vendor single buyer integrated inventory model with probabilistic demand and equal delivery lot size. The model contributes to the current literature by relaxing the deterministic demand assumption which has been used for almost all integrated inventory models. The objective is to minimize expected total costs incurred by the vendor and the buyer. We develop effective iterative procedures for finding the optimal solution. Numerical examples are used to illustrate the benefit of integration. A sensitivity analysis is performed to explore the effect of key parameters on delivery lot size, safety factor, production lot size factor and the expected total cost. The results of the numerical examples indicate that our models can achieve a significant amount of savings. Finally, we compare the results of our proposed model with a simulation model.

Abstract

Remanufacturing has become more prominent as a recovery process to mitigate the massive disposal of short life-cycle product at its end-of-use. However, remanufactured product is often perceived to be inferior to new product, and it has lower value in consumer’s willingness to pay. To increase the perceived quality of the remanufactured product, manufacturer offers a warranty, since one of the three roles possessed in warranty is being a signal to product reliability. This paper studies the pricing decisions and warranty level decision for new and remanufactured products in a closed-loop supply chain consists of a manufacturer and a retailer. The optimization modeling is performed under Stackelberg game with manufacturer as the leader. We found that higher expansion effectiveness coefficient would increase the supply chain profit. Also, there is an interval of demand’s speed of change, where the total profit would be at its highest. The optimum warranty level can be achieved regardless the initial warranty level set at the beginning of retailer’s optimization. Furthermore, the remanufactured product’s wholesale and retail prices are influenced by the expansion effectiveness coefficient.

Abstract

The availability of LPG in the community is a sensitive issue. If there is a shortage, it has the potential to cause chaos and inflation. The final consumers, namely households and micro business stalls, will generally be disloyal. They are not tied to one particular store to get the LPG they need. Since the number of tanks in circulation will remain constant, the analysis of LPG availability can be focused on the number of tanks. Continuous simulation method with system dynamics is generally used in system growth analysis. In this paper the method is utilized to model the discrete movement of tanks circulating in the community which in this case is represented in a much smaller system, consisting of filling stations, agents, and stores. The modeling results provide a sufficient picture of how the availability of the tank can be optimized appropriately.

Abstract

The handling of used cell phones in Indonesia is mostly carried out by informal actors, starting from second-hand market actors. However, the activities of the informal actors often endanger the environment and human health. To reduce the impact, some of the activities should be transferred to formal parties. This requires collaboration of both parties as a form of waste management, which previously has never been established. The objective of this study is to explore the driving factors of collaboration intention of informal actors in handling used cell phones with the formal ones. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to second-hand market actors in five districts in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. In this study, three internal driving factors are considered, which are environmental attitude, management commitment, and financial benefits, as well as two external driving factors: government support and competitor pressure. The regression analysis in each region revealed that the most significant driving factors vary across different regions, such as government support in Gunungkidul, management commitment in Bantul, competitive pressure and government support in Kulonprogo, government support, management commitment, and financial benefit in Sleman, as well as environmental attitude and financial benefit in Yogyakarta City. From the structural equation modeling at the provincial level, it was found that financial benefit and government support were the most significant factors influencing the collaboration intentions of all informal actors. The results of this study can be used as a reference. Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2022-08-10-016 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Waste management is an activity to manage residues, by-products, and used items. Handling used cell phones is one form of waste management activity. In developing countries, used cell phones are mostly handled by informal actors, where second-hand market actors for cell phones act as collection points. Some of these activities often affect the environment and the actors' health due to a lack of adequate technology. Hence, a collaboration between informal and formal actors is necessary to handle the used cell phones and reduce the adverse effects. However, several obstacles faced by informal actors can hinder such collaboration. This study explores the inhibiting factors for the collaboration between the informal and formal actors in handling used cell phones. The respondents were 424 informal actors in five areas of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY Province), Indonesia. The results showed that the unavailability of infrastructure and insufficient organization significantly hindered collaboration in the Yogyakarta municipal area. As for the areas of Gunungkidul, Bantul, Kulonprogo, and Sleman regions, there were no significant factors hindering the collaboration. The results of this study can contribute for stakeholders’ consideration related to e-waste handling, primarily used cell phones in Indonesia; thus, the management of used cell phones is safe for the environment and provide economic benefits for the informal actors. Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2023-09-03-011 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology is massive worldwide, racing to create solutions as a form of digital supply chain movement, massive use of information technology is also being carried out in the logistics business world which is part of supply chain activities, requiring accurate and fast information is a very important area to guarantee delivery of goods on time and on target. One important aspect of the logistics process is effective warehouse management. One of the main challenges in effective warehouse management is the process of receiving goods in the warehouse which still causes errors such as writing errors, inaccurate recording of the quantity, type and name of goods received and removed from the warehouse which takes quite a long time to process. There has been a lot of research carried out on data capturing activities with the application of OCR but not much has been found that focuses on managing printed and handwritten physical documents in the warehouse area, and preparation of data bases on websites connected to systematic OCR technology, and there is no analysis of technology investment. OCR regarding cost efficiency. Therefore, to help overcome this problem, this research carried out the design and implementation of a warehouse system based on OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology with the name WareOCR and analyzed it from an investment perspective using the ROI method. From the research results obtained using the OCR creation model using the CNN method, the accuracy of the WareOCR system on test data is 93%, Return on Investment is calculated at 60.38%, in the NPV calculation in year 3 the figure is IDR 112,911,033 where NPV > 0 for the project implementing WareOCR it is acceptable that this investment provides added value of 493% of the total project cost. This research  also  has   research   limitations  in  the  form of  invoice  formats  which  need  to  be standardized so they can be read with the WareOCR tool and the advantages of this research are that they can shorten the working time of the data entry warehouse in inputting information into the database.

Abstract

Indonesia's energy transition is accelerating the integration of biomass through co-firing in coal-fired power plants (PLTU), with a national target of 10 million tons of biomass utilization by 2025. However, supply inconsistency, quality variability, and logistical inefficiencies remain key obstacles. This study aims to develop a sustainable business model for a local biomass supplier by integrating the Triple Layered Business Model Canvas (TLBMC), Value Proposition Canvas (VPC), and SWOT analysis. This qualitative research adopts a case study design, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Informants include internal stakeholders from the supplier, state-owned electricity entities, and related institutional actors. The analysis identifies strategic strengths and weaknesses of the current model, external opportunities and threats, as well as gaps in quality control, dependency on external partners, and insufficient integration of environmental and social dimensions. By constructing a modified TLBMC–VPC framework based on SWOT findings, the study proposes a more resilient and efficient business model aligned with national decarbonization goals and inclusive supply chain engagement. The results contribute to enhancing supplier readiness and improving strategic alignment with Indonesia’s low-carbon energy transition agenda.
