Abstract

The development of a child is very important for parents. Every parent wants their child to grow up well and be a strong and good quality child. One of the efforts that parents can do from an early age is to stimulate with the baby massage method. Massage therapy is one of the complementary therapies that can stimulate tactile-kinesthetic stimulation. Massage therapy given since infancy can increase the stimulation of receptors on the skin, affect brain cells, increase interaction between mother and child, and increase body weight so that children's growth becomes optimal. This community service activity aims to increase community knowledge at the Sinar Gunung VI Posyandu, about baby massage and how to do it, so that babies can grow and develop properly. The method used is lecturing and practicing as well as distributing leaflets on how to do a baby massage that will optimize the growth and develop optimally of children. This activity was attended by 18 mothers who have babies. The results of this activity were increased knowledge and skills of mothers who came to Posyandu Sinar Gunung VI who had babies. The conclusion is that there is an increase in the knowledge and skills of mothers who have infants and higher confidence in practicing complementary therapy for infant massage therapy with mentoring and coaching to optimize the growth and develop optimally of infants.

Abstract

The goal of this investigation is to ascertain how peer education about bone health affects students' knowledge. A one-group pre-test-post-test design was used in the pre-experimental study design. Twenty-nine students were chosen as the sample for this study using a straightforward random sampling procedure. 27 questions about bone health were included in the questionnaire that served as the study tool. The t-test statistical test was used for univariate and bivariate data analysis. According to the findings, there was a significant difference in knowledge between the two time periods before and after the peer education intervention for bone health (p-value = 0.000). The obtained beta squared value was 0.89, which indicated that peer education interventions for bone health had a significant impact on knowledge growth. A similar study will be conducted in the future to assess attitudes and behavior, as well as the presence of a control group.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the association between coffee drinking, smoking, and the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in college students. This study is an observational analytic cross-sectional study that employs a quantitative methodology. 200 participants were chosen at random from a basic random sample in order to conduct this study. In this research, the findings of the chi-square examination conducted to determine the correlation between coffee intake and the occurrence of GERD revealed a noteworthy association between the two variables. Similarly, the results of the chi-square test conducted to establish the link between smoking practices and the incidence of GERD demonstrated a significant association between the two. Consequently, it can be inferred that there is a significant correlation between coffee consumption, smoking habits, and the incidence of GERD in college students.

Objective: To determine the effect of aerobic exercise on nutritional status and blood sugar levels in elderly diabetics at the Lubuk Buaya Health Center. Methods: The scope of this research is the science of disease in the specialty of metabolism and geriatrics and nutrition. The research was conducted in December 2021. The type of research was Pre Experiment with a One-Group Pre Test-Post Test design. The affordable population in this study were elderly DM sufferers at the Lubuk Buaya Health Center with a total of 32 samples using simple random sampling technique. Univariate data analysis was presented in the form of frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using paired sample t-test and Wilcoxon signed ranks test, data processing using computerized SPSS program IBM version 25.0. Results: The most gender was female, namely 27 people (84.4%) and the most age were elderly (elderly), namely 16 people (50.0%), the most nutritional status before being given aerobics was overweight, namely 16 people (50.0 %) and the most nutritional status after being given aerobics was overweight, namely 15 people (46.9%), the average blood sugar level before being given aerobics was 219.16 with the lowest level being 144 and the highest level being 356, while the average level blood sugar after being given aerobic exercise, namely 203.38 with the lowest level being 139 and the highest level being 341, there was an effect of aerobic exercise on blood sugar levels in elderly diabetics at the Lubuk Buaya Health Center (p=0.000), and there was no effect of aerobic exercise on nutritional status in elderly diabetics at the Lubuk Buaya Health Center (p=0.686). Conclusion: The most gender is female and the most age is elderly (elderly), the most nutritional status before being given aerobics is overweight and the most nutritional status after being given aerobics is overweight, the average blood sugar level before being given aerobics is higher than average -the average blood sugar level after being given aerobic exercise, there is an effect of aerobic exercise on blood sugar levels in elderly diabetics at Lubuk Buaya Health Center, and there is no effect of aerobic exercise on nutritional status in elderly diabetics at Lubuk Buaya Health Center.

Abstract

Dyslipidemia and obesity are major metabolic disorders characterized by abnormal lipid metabolism, chronic inflammation, and oxidative stress, all of which contribute to progressive renal injury. Excessive accumulation of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) promotes macrophage infiltration and foam cell formation within renal tissue, accelerating glomerular damage and increasing the risk of chronic kidney disease. Aloin, the principal anthraquinone glycoside isolated from Aloe vera, possesses potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may attenuate oxidative injury and inhibit foam cell formation. This study aimed to investigate the effect of oral aloin administration on renal foam cell formation in male Mus musculus with dyslipidemia-induced obesity. A true experimental study employing a posttest-only control group design was conducted using male mice with experimentally induced dyslipidemia and obesity. Animals were randomly allocated into control and treatment groups. The treatment group received oral aloin for 28 consecutive days following dyslipidemia induction. Kidney tissues were collected for histopathological examination using Hematoxylin–Eosin staining. Foam cell formation was evaluated microscopically, and differences between groups were analyzed using the Independent Samples t-test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Histopathological analysis demonstrated that aloin administration reduced renal foam cell formation compared with the untreated control group. The treatment group exhibited approximately 25% foam cell formation, whereas the control group demonstrated approximately 93.8%. These findings suggest that aloin suppresses lipid accumulation and inflammatory responses within renal tissue through its antioxidant activity. Nevertheless, the therapeutic effect remained lower than that reported for atorvastatin, indicating that aloin is more appropriately considered a complementary rather than a replacement therapy. Oral administration of aloin effectively reduced foam cell formation in the kidneys of dyslipidemia-induced obese male mice. The protective effect is likely mediated through antioxidant activity, inhibition of lipid peroxidation, and attenuation of inflammatory processes.

Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental determinant of physical, mental, and social well-being. However, inadequate sleep duration, poor sleep quality, and unhealthy sleep habits remain common and often unrecognized public health problems. Limited awareness of sleep health contributes to delayed recognition of sleep disorders and increases the risk of chronic diseases and reduced quality of life. This community service program aimed to improve public awareness of healthy sleep through community-based education during the Car-Free Day event in Padang City, Indonesia. A descriptive community-based health promotion approach was implemented on 5 April 2026 by the Indonesian Society of Sleep Medicine (PERDOKTIN). The program included public education on adequate sleep duration and quality, sleep hygiene counseling, interactive discussions, and a Fun Walk campaign to disseminate key messages on healthy sleep behaviors. Program implementation was documented through field observations and participant engagement. The activities attracted enthusiastic community participation and generated active discussions regarding healthy sleep practices and common sleep disorders. Participants demonstrated increased awareness of the importance of maintaining adequate sleep duration, good sleep quality, and healthy sleep habits. The Fun Walk campaign further enhanced public engagement and increased the visibility of PERDOKTIN's sleep health promotion initiatives. Community-based sleep health promotion conducted during Car-Free Day is a practical and effective approach to improving sleep health literacy. Similar educational initiatives should be expanded to strengthen preventive healthcare and promote healthier communities.
