Abstract

The transition period of the Umayyad dynasty to the Abbasid dynasty occurred in a span of 100 years. There are fifteen great poets whose poetry represents the study of this research. The results of this study indicate that there are seven types of poetry found in the transition period, namely madh, hija, naqaidh, zuhud, gazal, khamriyyat, and fakhr. These seven poems have different characteristics to fulfill different functions. Among them are diction which uses connotative words, strong imagination, uses a lot of simile/tasybih, cynicism, sarcasm, personification, and metaphor/istia'rah.

Abstract

THE QUALITY OF TRANSLATION RESULTS BY GOOGLE TRANSLATE AND MICROSOFT TRANSLATOR IN TRANSLATING CLASSICAL ARABIC TEXTS BASED ON THE TRANSLATION OF THE BOOK MATN AL-GHĀYAH WAT TAQRIB BY FAIZ EL MUTTAQINAbstract: This study aimed to describe the quality of translations results by Google Translate and Microsoft Translator in translating classical Arabic texts based on the translation of the book Matn Al-Ghāyah wat Taqrib by Faiz El Muttaqin by looking at three aspects in the target language; accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The data of this study were analyzed using comparative qualitative research methods. The results showed that Google Translate got a better score than Microsoft Translator. However, both of them produced inaccurate, unacceptable and illegible translations because machine translation cannot properly communicate the meaning and dynamics of the source language into the target language.Keywords: Machine translation, Translation quality, Google translate, Microsoft translatorKUALITAS HASIL TERJEMAH GOOGLE TRANSLATE DAN MICROSOFT TRANSLATOR DALAM PENERJEMAHAN TEKS KLASIK BAHASA ARAB BERDASARKAN TERJEMAHAN KITAB MATN AL-GHĀYAH WAT TAQRIB KARYA FAIZ EL MUTTAQIN Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kualitas hasil terjemahan google translate dan microsoft translator dalam penerjemahan teks klasik bahasa Arab berdasarkan terjemahan kitab Matn Al-Ghāyah wat Taqrib karya Faiz El Muttaqin, dengan melihat tiga aspek dalam bahasa sasaran yaitu keakuratan, keberterimaan, dan keterbacaan. Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif komparatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa google translate memperoleh skor yang lebih unggul daripada microsoft translator. Kendati demikian, keduanya sama-sama menghasilkan terjemahan yang tidak akurat, tidak berterima dan tidak terbaca karena mesin penerjemahan tidak bisa mengkomunikasikan makna dan dinamika bahasa sumber ke dalam bahasa sasaran dengan benar.Kata kunci: Mesin penerjemah, Kualitas, terjemahan, Google translate, Microsoft translator  الملخص:  تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل جودة نتائج ترجمة مترجم جوجل و مترجم مايكروسوفت في ترجمة النصوص العربية الكلاسيكية بناءً على ترجمة كتاب المتن الغاية والتقريب للفائز المتقين، من خلال النظر إلى ثلاثة جوانب في اللغة المستهدفة وهي الدقة والمقبولية وسهولة القراءة. في هذه الدراسة، تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام الطريقة النوعية المقارنة. أظهرت النتائج أن نتائج مترجم جوجل أفضل من مترجم مايكروسوفت. ومع ذلك ، فقد أنتج كلاهما ترجمة غير دقيقة و غير مقبولة و غير واضحة لأنهما لا يستطيعان توصيل معاني و ديناميات مصادر البيانات بشكل صحيحة إلى اللغة المستهدفة الكلمة المفتاح: آلة الترجمة ، جودة ، ترجمة ، مترجم جوجل ،

Abstract

The general objective of this research is to examine the relevance of the rules of assimilation in Arabic with religious, social values. This study uses a qualitative approach with an ethnolinguistic approach. The data were collected through in-depth and repeated reading of the Arabic language's assimilation rules, which allegedly contained social religious values. The data is taken from two syntax books, Alfiyah Ibn Malik and Jami'ud Duru:s al-Arabiyyah. Data analysis steps include classification, reduction, verification, and inference. The study results indicate a relevance between the morphophonemic rules of assimilation in Arabic and social, religious values. These values include (1) making it easy and not making it difficult, (2) prioritizing the core over the extra, (3) the strong tend to beat the weak, (4) being willing to sacrifice for harmony, (5) choosing the lightest harm, and (6) willingness to adapt in society. The relevance between Arabic morphophonemic rules and socio-cultural values reinforces the ethnolinguistic theory. The language dimension can describe society's social and cultural dimensions and social structure

Abstract

Abstract: Speaking skills are one of the language learning skills that must be mastered. The difficulty of pronouncing vocabulary and expressing a sentence are the most common problems that happen to elementary students. Therefore, to solve those problems, learning media that can help and support the students so they can get used to speaking Arabic is needed. The aims of this research are to develop the Talk or Dare Game Cards as a learning media for speaking skills and describe the feasibility of Talk or Dare game cards as the learning media for the fifth-grade students. The procedure used in this research is Research and Development, including these following seven methods: (1) potential problems, (2) data collection, (3) planning, (4) product design, (5) design validation, (6) product revision, (7) product trial. The process of developing a learning media in this present research resulted in the creation of 15 pieces of The Talk Cards containing target vocabularies, 15 pieces of The Dare Cards containing dialogues, and the manual booklet on how to play cards set. Kesulitan melafalkan kosakata, dan kesulitan mengungkapkan kalimat merupakan permasalahan umum yang banyak terjadi pada siswa sekolah dasar. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dibutuhkan pengembangan media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu dan mendukung siswa agar terbiasa berbicara Bahasa Arab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kartu permainan Talk or Dare sebagai media pembelajaran kemahiran berbicara dan mendeskripsikan kelayakan media pembelajaran kartu permainan Talk or Dare untuk siswa kelas V. Penelitian in menggunakan metode Research and Development, meliputi tujuh tahapan sebagai berikut: (1) Potensi masalah, (2) Pengumpulan data, (3) Desain produk, (4) Validasi desain, (5) Revisi desain, (6) Uji coba produk, (7) Revisi produk. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur dan nilai-nilai moral dalam cerpen Al-Najm Al-Kabiir karya Zahira El-Bialy. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian struktural. Teknik pengum­pulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian meliputi: (1) tema mayor berupa Apa yang kamu tanam itulah yang kamu tuai, sedangkan tema minor adalah Kasih sayang, ketulusan, ke­sombongan, jangan menilai seseorang berdasarkan penampilannya, dan sikap materialistis; (2) fakta cerita meliputi: (a) tokoh utama adalah Ibn Al-Najm Al-Kabiir, sedangkan tokoh tambahannya adalah penebang kayu I, penebang kayu II, istri penebang kayu, wanita tua, penjaga, kelinci, penyihir, dan pengemis, (b) cerita ini menggunakan alur campuran, (c) latar tempat berada di istana, hutan, kota besar, sel, dan rumah Si Penebang Kayu II, latar waktu meliputi pagi, sore, malam, dan musim dingin; (3) sarana cerita meliputi: (a) sudut pandang cerita menggunakan orang ketiga; dan (4) Nilai-nilai moral dalam struktur cerpen Al-Najm Al-Kabir terbagi menjadi tiga bagian yaitu nilai moral individu, sosial, dan religius. Kata kunci: analisis struktural; nilai-nilai moral; cerpen“Al-Najm Al-Kabiir”Karya Zahira El-Bialy Structure and Moral Values in the Al-Najm Al-Kabiir Short Story by Zahira El-Bialy This study aims to describe the structure and moral values in the short story "Al-Najm Al-Kabiir" by Zahira El-Bialy. The method used is a structural study, and data collection techniques involve documentation. The results of the study include: (1) the major theme is "What you sow is what you reap," while the minor themes are love, sincerity, arrogance, not judging someone based on their appearance, and materialistic attitudes; (2) the story's facts include: (a) the main character is Ibn Al-Najm Al-Kabiir, while the additional characters are Woodcutter I, Woodcutter II, Woodcutter's wife, old woman, guard, rabbit, witch, and beggar, (b) the story uses a mixed plot, (c) the setting takes place in a palace, forest, big city, prison, and Woodcutter II's house, and the time frame includes morning, afternoon, evening, and winter; (3) the story's means include: (a) the point of view uses the third person; and (4) the moral values in the structure of the "Al-Najm Al-Kabir" short story are divided into three parts: individual, social, and religious moral values. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Arab berbasis android menggunakan iSpring Suite. Model penelitian ini menggunakan ADDIE dengan modifikasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Hasil pengembangan berupa aplikasi bernama AMIRA “Aku Mahir Bahasa Arab” yang memuat empat tema yaitu alamat (al-unwan), profesi (al-mihnah), anggota keluarga (afradul usroh), dan di rumah (fil baiti). Materi yang disajikan secara keseluruhan terdiri atas 67 kosakata disertai contoh kalimat dan tata bahasa. Selain itu, terdapat empat ragam game interaktif seperti mencocokkan gambar dan mufradat, mencocokkan pelafalan mufradat dan gambar, menyusun huruf mufradat secara acak, dan mengisi mufradat dalam kalimat rumpang, serta latihan soal. Aplikasi ini telah memenuhi syarat kelayakan dengan penilaian oleh ahli media, ahli materi, guru, dan pengguna sebesar 91,8 persen. Jumlah tersebut menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi yang diujicobakan dinyatakan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Arab yang menarik, efektif, dan variative untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa. Kata Kunci: media pembelajaran; Android; iSpring Suite; kosakata bahasa Arab Developing An Android-Based Arabic Vocabulary Learning Application using iSpring Suite for 4th-Grade Students This study aims to develop an Android-based Arabic vocabulary learning application using iSpring Suite. The research model uses ADDIE with modifications according to the needs. The development results in an application called AMIRA "Aku Mahir Bahasa Arab" which contains four themes: address (al-unwan), profession (al-mihnah), family members (afradul usroh), and at home (fil baiti). The material presented consists of a total of 67 vocabulary words accompanied by example sentences and grammar. In addition, there were four types of interactive games such as matching pictures and mufradat, matching the pronunciation of mufradat and pictures, arranging mufradat letters randomly, and filling in mufradat in incomplete sentences, as well as exercises. This application has met the feasibility requirements with an assessment by media experts, material experts, teachers, and users of 91.8 percent. This number indicates that the tested application is considered suitable for use as an interesting, effective, and varied Arabic vocabulary learning media to increase students' learning interest. Abstract

Changes in the morphological construction of Arabic words (wazn al-ṣarf) produce new meanings, often making Arabic learners fall into translation errors. While the existing books on ṣarf (Arabic morphology) have explained these meanings narratively, the learners have yet to face a massive problem in tracking these morphological construction-based meaning changes. Therefore, as a novelty offered, this research aims to identify the changing meanings based on the varied morphological constructions and represent them in a didactic poetic arrangement to ease learning and memorization. The development design is organized based on 4D procedures (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Several morphological constructions of Arabic words and their resulting meaning changes were identified in the defining stage. The design stage was concerned with determining the prosodic form of naẓm (didactic poetic versification, ʽarȗḍ) with which the identified meaning changes of the varied morphological constructions of words were composed and devising the procedures by which this composed naẓm was tested to validate its utility in helping learning and memorization processes, in terms of its feasibility, media appearance, and teaching steps. In the developing stage, the prosodic form of Rajz was chosen to compose the naẓm, and an Android-based application was selected as the learning medium. Finally, in the disseminating stage, the produced application was uploaded to the Google Play Store, which learners, teachers, and validators can download for testing and use. The research produced a naẓm consisting of 9 chapters of morphological word constructions and 32 verses. The validation test suggested a very good qualification (87,61%), with some revisions in certain parts. As such, the product of this research is recommended to be used by both teachers and learners of Arabic to comprehend and memorize more effectively the different meanings of various morphological constructions of Arabic words using a naẓm.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the Arabic book for the 10th grade of Madrasah Aliyah, published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020, based on the multiliteracy concept. The primary data source in this study is a 10th-grade Arabic textbook, whereas the secondary data is literature on the subject themes. The data analysis technique employs content analysis. The results reflect the context, which frequently refers to the situational context. The At Ta'am wa Sharāb chapter explores a natural science theme. The multimedia element includes both text and visual media. As for audio for listening learning, it is not yet in all chapters. As for the multicultural aspect, most of them contained Indonesian culture. There is one theme that contained Arab culture and one that contains American culture. Based on the analysis results, Arabic books are not optimal in containing the concept of multiliteracy.

Abstract

This article aims to revisit the understanding of the concept of syncretic Javanese Islam, which scholars have much debated. From the genealogical search for the syncretic Javanese Islamic concept produced by missionaries and orientalists; mapping of the academic representations of Javanese Islam produced by recent scholars; up to an explanation of the theoretical approach used to discuss the concept of syncretism. Based on selected literature sources, the results show that the syncretic Javanese Islamic concept formulated by missionaries and orientalists tends to be highly theological due to the Christian framework used. They were especially concerned about the universality of religion, the evolution of civilization, the hierarchy of religions, and the purity of religious doctrine. Recent scholars also tend to have inherited this conception of Javanese Islam. They constantly debated the ‘true’ or the ‘purity’ of Javanese Islam, thus resulting in the two dominantly opposing views. The intensity of the cultural encounter and the necessity of syncretism requires a more robust theoretical approach to obtain a more precise understanding of syncretism.
