Abstract

The purposes of this research were to determine the level of income and profits of organic rice farming SL-PTT participants, determine the level of household income SL-PTT participants, determine the level of welfare household SL-PTT participants in the District of Pagelaran of Pringsewu Regency. This research was conducted in Pagelaran and Gemah Ripah villages of Pagelaran District. The research samples were drawn from the population by simple random design.  The total samples were 77 farmers consisted of 37 SL-PTT participants and 40 SL-PTT non-participants. The data was analyzed by farm income analysis, household income analysis and welfare analysis based on Sajogyo’s criteria (1997). The results showed that the average of income SL-PTT participants based on cash costs and total cost were Rp11,510,16.35 dan Rp13,047,112.84 and acceptance ratios obtained by cost (R/C ratio) in cash and in total were 4.69 and 3.27.  Average income of SL-PTT non participants based on cash costs and total cost were Rp9,803,268.59 and Rp8,418,819.09 and acceptance ratios obtained by cost (R/C ratio) and total cash were 3.7 and 2.68.  Averages household income of SL-PTT participants was Rp39,174,915.54 per year. Averages household income of SL-PTT non-participants was Rp36,978,219 per year. Based on Sajogyo’s criteria, there was one of household SL-PTT paricipant that was classified as moderate household and  three of household SL-PTT non participants were classified as moderate household. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of red chilli farming, the profitability of red chili farming, and factors that influence the profits of red chili farming and relative economic efficiency. Data collection was carried out in seven sub-districts, namely Sidomulyo, Candipuro, Kalianda, Palas, Penengahan, Ketapang, and Bakauheni of South Lampung District in September 2017 - January 2018. The number of respondents was 41 red chili farmers who were members of the independent Agro Siger Mandiri Cooperative taken by census. Data were analyzed using frontier production functions, income analysis, profit Unit Output Price function, and comparative analysis of relative economic efficiency. The results showed that the red chili farming is veryefficient technically. Red chili farming is beneficial for farmers. The factors influencing the profits of red chili farming are land size, price of pesticides per production, wages of labor per production, and planting groups. Economic efficiency of planting groupone is higher than planting group two.Key words: cooperation, frontier, income, red chilli, technical efficiency

Abstract

Jagung merupakan salah satu tanaman pangan penting di Indonesia dan mempunyai peran strategis dalam perekonomian nasional, mengingat fungsinya yang multiguna, sebagai sumber pangan, pakan, dan bahan baku industri. Kelebihan jagung manis dengan jagung biasa yaitu rasa yang lebih manis dibandingkan dengan jagung biasa. Kadar gula pada endosperm jagung manis sebesar 5-6 %, gula yang disimpan dalam biji jagung manis adalah sukrosa yang dapat mencapai 11% dan kadar pati 10-11%, sedangkan jagung biasa kadar gulanya hanya 2-3% atau setengah dari kadar gula jagung manis (Irianto, 2007). Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi jagung manis yaitu budidaya tanaman jagung manis. Pentingnya teknik budidaya dan pemupukan yang baik mendorong penulis untuk melakukan kegiatan kunjungan yang dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Mojosari, Balai Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian (BPTP) Jawa Timur. Hasil kegiatan kunjungan tentang budidaya tanaman jagung manis diawali dari persiapan benih. Persiapan benih dilakukan dengan cara perendaman benih dengan menggunakan air untuk mempercepat tumbuhnya lembaga. Persiapan lahan dengan menggunakan sistem olah tanah sempurna. Penanaman benih jagung dengan jarak tanam 70x20 cm dan pada satu lubang tanam menggunakan dua benih untuk mencegah terjadinya benih yang tidak tumbuh. Pemberian air irigasi dilakukan 12 kali selama satu musim tanam, disesuaikan dengan kondisi lahan dan cuaca. Pemupukan yang dilakukan dengan pupuk NPK Pelangi, urea, SP36 dan KCl. Teknik pemupukan dengan cara ditugal dan pemupukan berikutnya disebar diatas permukaan tanah dekat dengan perakaran tanaman. Penyiangan gulma dilakukan dengan manual dan kimiawi menggunakan herbisida. Penyiangan secara manual dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak. Hama yang ditemukan yaitu belalang atau Locusta migratoria namun serangannya dibawah ambang batas ekonomi sehingga pengendaliannya dilakukan dengan monitoring menggunakan alat light trap. Penyakit yang ditemukan pada lahan budidaya jagung manis yaitu penyakit bulai yang disebabkan oleh cendawan Peronosclerospora maydis. Pengendalian dilakukan dengan cara mencabut tanaman yang sakit agar tidak menyebar ke tanaman yang lain. Panen tanaman jagung manis dilakukan 70 hst dengan cara memutar tongkol tanaman kemudian tongkol ditarik sehingga terlepas dari batang tanaman jagung manis.

Abstract

Kualitas green bean (biji kopi mentah) merupakan faktor krusial yang sangat menentukan mutu akhir produk kopi, baik dari segi nilai jual maupun cita rasa. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis kemasan yang baik dan efektif untuk dilakukan penyimpanan pada suhu dan kelembaban yang berbeda. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah biji kopi yang disimpan pada kemasan karung goni dan diletakkan di dalam box menunjukkan adanya kenaikkan bobot. Metode penelitian dilaksanakan mengunakan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RAKL) dengan 3 ulangan dan 10 kali pengamatan. Perlakuan 1 menggunakan kemasan hermatik (H1) dan goni (H2), sedangkan perlakuan 2 penyimpanan di kulkas (K1), ruang (K2), dan box (K3). Bobot awal biji kopi tersebut adalah 300 gram setelah dilakukan penyimpanan dengan menggunakan karung goni dan diletakkan di dalam box, bobot meningkat secara signifikan menjadi 322 gram. Sedangkan kemasan hermatik yang disimpan pada kulkas dengan kelembaban ±30% menurunkan bobot biji kopi menjadi 294 gram. Seiring dengan kenaikan bobot, kadar air green bean juga ikut bertambah. Kadar air awal biji kopi tersebut adalah 12,5% setelah dilakukan penyimpanan dengan menggunakan karung goni dan diletakkan di dalam box, kadar air meningkat secara menjadi 17%. Sedangkan kemasan hermatik yang disimpan pada kulkas dengan kelembaban ±30% menurunkan kadar air biji kopi menjadi 11,25%. Nilai warna RGB pada perlakuan karung goni menunjukkan nilai yang berbeda dibandingkan pada saat hari pertama pengamatan, yaitu nilai semua perlakuan yang menggunakan karung goni lebih besar dibandingkan nilai RGB green bean yang dikemas dengan menggunakan kemasan hermetik.

Abstract

Corn is a strategic agricultural commodity with high economic potential, particularly for rural communities in Indonesia. However, many corn farmers still lack basic skills in managing their farming enterprises as professional business units. Most of them focus solely on production without proper financial planning, risk analysis, or marketing strategies. This community service project was conducted in Karang Rejo Village, Central Lampung, with the primary objective of improving farmers’ capacity to develop structured and realistic farm business plans. The activity applied the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which emphasizes the use of local assets such as farming knowledge, land, social capital, and market access to promote sustainable community empowerment. The program consisted of participatory training, focused group discussions, and hands-on mentoring over three intensive sessions, followed by individual consultations. Training materials included SWOT analysis, cost–benefit calculations, business goal setting, and financial projections tailored to corn farming. Evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests showed that 75% of the participants improved their understanding and ability to develop business plans. In addition, 19 out of 22 farmers successfully completed a basic business plan independently by the end of the program. The results demonstrate that empowering farmers through context-based andragogical methods is effective in strengthening managerial skills and promoting a shift from traditional to entrepreneurial farming mindsets. This initiative also aligns with national agricultural modernization goals and provides a replicable model for other farming communities. Continued support and collaboration with local stakeholders are recommended to ensure the sustainability of the outcomes. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of agribusiness entrepreneurship training on the development of small-scale farming enterprises in Teluk Betung, Bandar Lampung City. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the research involved 30 smallholder farmers who participated in an entrepreneurship training program in 2021. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial motivation after the training. Notable improvements were observed in business planning, simple financial recording, market opportunity identification, and innovation in agricultural product processing. The training also fostered a more independent and market-oriented entrepreneurial mindset among participants. However, some challenges remained in post-training implementation, such as limited access to facilities and markets, as well as the lack of continuous mentoring. The study concludes that entrepreneurship training plays a vital role in strengthening smallholder farmers’ capacity and should be complemented by sustainable support systems to enhance its long-term impact.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The cultivation training for Inthanon melon variety using greenhouse and Internet of Things (IoT) technology was conducted at Nurul Fattah Islamic Boarding School in Tulang Bawang as part of a community service program applying the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. This activity aimed to enhance the capacity of students and staff in cultivating melons using modern and sustainable practices. The PAR method was implemented through four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The training included the delivery of cultivation materials, seedling and plant maintenance practices, the use of automated irrigation systems, measurement of fruit sweetness using a Brix meter, and harvesting with a self-pick agro-tourism approach. Results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding; out of 15 participants, only 33% answered the pre-test correctly, while the post-test success rate increased to 87%. Innovations such as IoT utilization and direct marketing strategies proved effective in supporting the sustainability of the boarding school’s agribusiness. This activity had a positive impact on pesantren economic development and serves as a replicable model of adaptive and educational community-based agribusiness. Abstract

ABSTRACTOne type of coffee that grows and thrives in the Ulubelu area, particularly in Gunung Sari Village, Ulubelu District, Tanggamus Regency, is Robusta coffee. The Robusta coffee found in Ulubelu is one of the region's leading commodities that must be developed and preserved. The purpose of this community service activity is to assist farmer groups in the Ulubelu District to innovate in agribusiness development by utilizing coffee commodity products from upstream to downstream and turning them into high-quality sources of livelihood. The method used in this community service program is descriptive qualitative, carried out through discussions, counseling, training, and direct evaluation with coffee farmers and entrepreneurs. The results of the workshop training successfully improved the skills of the farmer group members in providing organic fertilizers and in environmentally friendly pest and disease control for coffee plants. In addition, the service team provided training on agribusiness marketing development strategies, which enhanced the farmers’ skills in processing their harvests, thereby increasing the product's selling value and serving as a higher source of income for the development of community-based MSMEs. Abstract

This This study aims to analyze the relationship between vocational agribusiness education and the improvement of farmers’ income in 2022. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation involving 15 farmers who participated in vocational training programs. The findings indicate that most farmers experienced an increase in technical and managerial skills after attending the training, including improved cultivation practices, cost efficiency, basic financial management, and product marketing strategies. As a result, the majority of farmers reported a 10% to 30% increase in their income. However, the success of vocational training was also influenced by external factors such as infrastructure, market access, and institutional support. The study concludes that vocational agribusiness education plays a significant role in empowering farmers and enhancing their economic capacity, especially when integrated with a supportive agribusiness ecosystem. Therefore, it is recommended that vocational training be developed contextually, tailored to local needs, and supported by inclusive rural development policies
