Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of GenAI-Automatic Corrective Feedback (ACF) integration in collaborative writing based on metacognitive instruction on argumentative essay writing ability. The method used in the study was a quasi-experimental method involving 220 students divided into two groups. The experimental group received GenAI-Automatic Corrective Feedback (ACF) integration intervention with collaborative writing based on metacognitive instruction, while the control group used a genre-based writing approach. The instruments used included writing assessments covering lexical, accuracy, and fluency. Data analysis used included descriptive analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis. The findings of the study showed that the GenAI-ACF intervention in collaborative writing based on metacognitive instruction was able to improve argumentative essay writing ability more significantly than the genre-based writing intervention. Improvement in argumentative essay writing ability was seen in several aspects, including lexical complexity (lexical density, lexical sophistication, and lexical variety), accuracy, and fluency. The components of metacognitive instruction that contributed most significantly to argumentative essay writing ability were the evaluation and declarative knowledge components. Thus, it can be concluded that the integration of GenAI-ACF in collaborative writing based on metacognitive instruction significantly contributes to the quality of argumentative essays. This study implies that the integration of technology use and metacognitive instruction in collaborative writing can optimize writing competence.

Abstract

Advertising language combines informative and persuasive elements to influence audience perception and behavior. In milk beverage advertisements, language is used not only to present product information but also to create emotional appeal, build brand image, and stimulate consumer interest. This study aims to analyze the meanings of words and the use of figurative language in milk beverage advertisements in electronic media, as well as to explore their potential utilization in Indonesian language learning at the senior high school level. The research subjects include several milk beverage advertisements broadcast on television and online platforms. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis approach to identify and interpret linguistic features related to word meanings and stylistic expressions. The results show that the advertisements contain denotative, connotative, lexical, and grammatical meanings that emphasize both factual and emotional messages. In addition, four dominant types of figurative language—comparison, contrast, repetition, and association—are found to reinforce persuasion, increase memorability, and evoke emotional responses. The discussion highlights that these linguistic elements not only strengthen the persuasive effect of advertisements but also provide valuable material for contextual learning in the classroom. Therefore, the findings can be applied in teaching advertising texts and persuasive writing in Indonesian language learning. In conclusion, advertising language serves as both a communication strategy and an educational resource that enhances students’ critical and creative thinking in line with the principles of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital media, particularly Instagram, has facilitated the proliferation of humorous discourse that frequently exploits linguistic ambiguity to produce comedic effects, posing interpretive challenges for students as active social media users. This study investigates the forms of lexical and grammatical ambiguity in humorous discourse on the Instagram accounts Dagelan and Nanangsptra and examines their potential as instructional materials for anecdotal texts in senior high schools. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through reading, observing, and note-taking techniques from posts published between February and April 2025, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that lexical ambiguity manifests in polysemy and homonymy, while grammatical ambiguity arises from word-formation processes and structurally similar phrases. These patterns indicate that digital humor discourse provides authentic and contextually relevant linguistic input. The study argues that integrating such materials into classroom instruction enhances students’ interpretive competence, language awareness, and critical thinking in understanding anecdotal texts.
