Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is an important policy to ensure the health of infants and mothers. Semarang, as one of Indonesia's metropolitan cities, faces challenges in implementing this policy. Evaluation of the exclusive breastfeeding program is necessary to understand its implementation success and influencing factors. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the exclusive breastfeeding policy in Semarang. The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with health officials, lactating mothers, and relevant stakeholders in Semarang's exclusive breastfeeding policy implementation. The research findings indicate several challenges in the implementation, such as low public awareness of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and inadequate government supervision. Based on the research results, evaluation of input from various research informants indicates that the planned breastfeeding program has been well communicated despite some obstacles. Program evaluation is conducted monthly by health centers through recording and reporting. Evaluation of the implementation of the exclusive breastfeeding policy in Semarang is carried out using an output evaluation model, assessing the coverage rate of exclusive breastfeeding in Semarang, which shows an increase in the coverage rate of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Grobogan Regency remains high, with Antenatal Care (ANC) coverage falling short of national targets. The Wirosari II Health Center reports particularly low K6 coverage at 37.92%. This study evaluates ANC service implementation at Purwodadi I and Wirosari II Health Centers to provide improvement recommendations. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with midwives, maternal and child health workers, and pregnant women. Data validation was conducted via triangulation, and analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. Findings reveal adequate human resources, but uneven health worker training. Infrastructure is sufficient, though equipment damage hinders Wirosari II. Service procedures align with standards, but SOP violations and limited nutrition personnel were noted in Purwodadi I. While K1 and K4 targets are achieved in Purwodadi I, Wirosari II struggles with recording and networking issues. Overall, ANC implementation in Purwodadi I is effective, while Wirosari II requires improvements in data recording, health worker training, and resource management. These findings provide actionable recommendations to enhance maternal health services in Grobogan Regency.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is the most common mental illness, with prevalence of 1.7 million in Indonesia. In 2020, 58.9% of patients with schizophrenia in Indonesia received services. This means that 41.1% of patients with schizophrenia, haven’t received comprehensive services. Central Java has a 9.8% prevalence of mental disorders and ranks fifth in terms of the highest number of schizophrenia patients. This will undoubtedly impact the quality of life for schizophrenia patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate mental health services, focusing on family experiences, stigmatization, and role of community health workers in schizophrenia cases in Semarang City. The research design used a qualitative descriptive phenomenological, employing in-depth interviews and purposive sampling, along with triangulation from several informants, including the experiences of families of people with mental disorders, cadres staff, and collaboration with the Social Affairs Department. Data analysis techniques used thematic analysis based on the CIPP model, using NVivo 15 software. The results showed that mental health services in Semarang had a positive impact on schizophrenia. However, there is still need to strengthen aspects of resources, cross-sector involvement, and anti-stigma strategies. Sustained collaborative interventions are needed to ensure the holistic quality of life for patients and their families.
