Abstract

Financial literacy among students is at 23.4% and is categorized as low. This has led to increasingly high levels of consumerism and even stress. The Banjar community has a work culture known as cangkal. Cangkal refers to a persistent and diligent work ethic. Financial literacy education has an impact on students' attitudes, knowledge, and financial skills. This study aims to analyze the influence of integrating the cultural values of cangkal into financial literacy education on attitudes, knowledge, and skills. This is a quantitative study using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). This study was conducted in the city of Banjarmasin and Barito Kuala Regency, involving seven junior high schools with a sample size of 422 respondents from grade VII. The findings of this study are: (1) Cangkal culture has cultural values such as trust, hard work, and preference; (2) The integration of Cangkal cultural values in financial literacy education has a positive influence on attitudes, knowledge, and skills. This can be seen from the path coefficient values that are close to +1, indicating a positive and increasingly strong relationship between these variables, with results of 0.932 for knowledge, 0.921 for attitude, and 0.909 for financial skills. The conclusion of this study is that the integration of Cangkal cultural values into financial literacy has a positive influence on financial knowledge, financial attitudes, and financial skills. Further research with a different focus is expected to strengthen this study.

Abstract

Differentiated learning can foster creativity, independence, and motivation to learn in students. However, misconceptions in understanding and implementing this approach produce negative outcomes. This study analyzes misconceptions in differentiated learning among Indonesian social studies teachers, examining their forms, causes, and impacts. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, utilizing structured and open-ended interviews conducted via Google Forms, with 126 randomly selected social studies teachers across Indonesia. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Results reveal significant misconceptions among Indonesian social studies teachers. Key findings include an overemphasis on learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) in teaching practices, uniform time allocation despite varying student abilities, and excessive reliance on group learning without considering individual student profiles, including those who prefer independent learning. These misconceptions reveal fundamental misunderstandings about the principles of differentiated instruction, underscoring the need for enhanced teacher training and professional development programs.

Abstract

This study aims to develop digital Social Studies (IPS) learning materials based on the local wisdom of the Dayak Deah community, particularly the Tawas Jaa tradition, and to examine their feasibility and effectiveness in enhancing junior high school students’ environmental awareness. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of the ecological values embedded in the Tawas Jaa tradition of the Dayak Deah community into Social Studies learning materials in the form of a digital storybook, which has not previously been developed within local wisdom based Social Studies learning. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D development model, which consists of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects included 27 seventh-grade students of SMPN 2 Upau as the experimental group and 25 students as the control group. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and environmental awareness tests, and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate that in the define stage, students’ environmental awareness was still predominantly reflected in the knowledge dimension, while the attitude and behavioral dimensions remained at moderate to low levels. The design stage produced a prototype of a digital storybook that contextually integrates the ecological values of the Tawas Jaa tradition into Social Studies learning. In the develop stage, expert validation showed a very high level of feasibility with an average score of 85%. The limited trial results indicated very positive student responses, with an average score of 84% in terms of usability, attractiveness, and usefulness. The paired sample t-test analysis revealed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group (p < 0.05), with a greater improvement compared to the control group. The study concludes that the digital Social Studies learning materials based on the Dayak Deah Tawas Jaa tradition meet the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ environmental awareness. These findings suggest that integrating local wisdom into digital learning media can significantly contribute to strengthening environmental awareness in Social Studies learning.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen teachers’ understanding in developing digital teaching materials through storybook digital based on Dayak Deah local wisdom for social studies learning at SMPN 2 Upau, Tabalong Regency. The activity was carried out through workshop, mentoring, and classroom implementation stages involving 12 teachers, including social studies teachers as the main participants. Data collection was conducted using pretest-post test instruments, observation, interviews, and student response questionnaires. The workshop focused on introducing digital teaching materials, training in developing storybook digital using Canva, and integrating Dayak Deah cultural values into social studies learning materials. The results showed that teachers’ average score increased from 62 points in the pretest to 72 points in the posttest after participating in the training and mentoring activities. The improvement was mainly seen in teachers’ understanding of Canva operation, storybook preparation, integration of local cultural values, and visual design of digital teaching materials. The classroom implementation results also showed positive student responses, with an average score of 87.33% categorized as very feasible. Students considered the storybook digital easy to use, attractive, and helpful in understanding social studies materials and local cultural values. The activity indicates that integrating digital technology and local wisdom can support more contextual and meaningful social studies learning while helping preserve local cultural values in educational practices.
