Abstract

Yellowing diseases is one types of plant diseases which are found in some of the centers of cultivation of yard long bean in Bali. The spread of yellowing diseases caused the presence of vector insects, such as whiteflies and alternative host plants, such as weeds and other crops. This problem is then examined through statistical modeling in order to determine the pattern of the relationship between the incidence of yellowing disease with the populations of whiteflies and the alternative host plants. Collection of data on the yellowing disease incidences, the abundance of whiteflies, and the existence of alternative host plants was done through a direct observation in 100 farmer fields in several centers of cultivation of yard long beans in Bali. Determination of the best mathematical model was performed by linear regression analysis with ordinary least squares method. The results indicated that the best models for the relationship between the incidence of yellowing disease (KPK) with the population of whiteflies (KB) as well as the alternative host plants of yellowing were as follows: KPK = 1,2265 KB0,9872 TIAK1,0936 (R2 = 98,43 %; P-value = 0,000). The incidence of yellowing disease was highly significant positively correlated with the population of whiteflies and yellowing symptomatic alternative host plants. The existence of alternative host plants around the field was very decisive in triggering the emergence of yellow virus disease in the crop.

Abstract

Bali as a global destination has been recognized by various people including the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community. Despite being known for its cultural tourism, the pink tourism phenomenon exists and lives together along with the locals of Seminyak village. This research aims to discover the existence of pink tourism at M.Bar in Smk. as well as the perception of the locals and the government toward the happening phenomenon. This qualitative-descriptive research used snowball sampling to determine the population. The result shows that the pink tourism phenomenon exists due to the motivation from the LGBT community to aim for freedom of traveling without any discrimination toward them. Smk as a developing tourist area has a gay bar that is considered a safe place for the LGBT community and is called Mixwell Bar. This motivates the LGBT community to visit Seminyak in order to get the freedom they need. The government confirmed that pink tourism is not in line with cultural tourism in Bali. However, the locals see LGBT tourists as an economic stimulus through the tourism industry but do not acknowledge them to have legal behavior. The researchers hope that the information provided could be a consideration for Bali's tourism policy in the future.

Abstract

Evaluating and offering strategies for the existence of traditional Balinese alcoholic drinks that have the potential as a tourist attraction in Tri Eka Buana Village, Sidemen, Karangasem is the main goal of this research. For this purpose, different data collection tools were used, namely through interviews and questionnaires given to the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, the Village Head, the Head of the Tourism Awareness Group, and the Head of the Arak Cooperative in the village. Evaluation of the influence of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) as well as quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM) analysis techniques are used to identify the appropriate management strategy. The results showed that Balinese wine has the potential to be developed in the form of arak agro-tourism. Its development must involve the participation of local communities as stakeholders and shareholders. Arak agrotourism can be an alternative for arak farmers who are not willing to cooperate with alcoholic beverage management bodies to be marketed to the tourism industries. These tourism options play a role in improving the community's economy and have a sustainable impact on biodiversity.

Abstract

Pathogens and plant growth factors significantly influence plant growth and development. This study aims to investigate the potential of Serratia marcescens as a biocontrol agent against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. melongenae and its capability as a heteroauxin producer. Antagonistic tests of S. marcescens against F. oxysporum f.sp. melongenae were conducted using a dual culture method, while the antifungal activity of S. marcescens extract was assessed through the disk diffusion method. Salkowski's colorimetric test was performed both in vitro and in situ to analyze heteroauxin compounds, further identified by GC-MS. Results demonstrated that all four tested S. marcescens strains could inhibit the growth of F. oxysporum f.sp. melongenae, with inhibition rates ranging from 93.76% to 94.02% compared to the control. These strains produced heteroauxin and its derivatives, including 3-methylindole, salicylic acid, and indole-3-acetic acid methyl ester, as confirmed by GC-MS. This study concludes that the examined S. marcescens strains are promising biocontrol agents and heteroauxin producers, highlighting their potential for sustainable agriculture practices.

Abstract

Java ginger, locally known as emprit ginger, is an herb in the rhizome category with many medicinal uses. Indonesia is one of the largest ginger producing countries in the world, however its production in 2019-2022 tends to be unstable. Marginal soil, such as ultisol, can be utilized to increase the Java ginger production. Dolomite and IAA-producing bacteria are some soil ameliorants that can be applied to improve the soil quality. This study aimed to determine the effects of IAA-producing bacterial application and dolomite dosage reduction as well as identify the bacterial isolates and the optimal dose of dolomite in white ginger cultivation on ultisol. The study employed a completely randomized two-factorial design. The observed parameters include plant height (cm), leaf area (cm2), total leaf area (cm2), number of leaves, number of buds, and leaf greenness. Results show that S3 bacterial isolate had significant effects on plant height, leaf area, number of leaves, and leaf greenness. The dolomite dose of 100% showed the best effects on plant height, number of leaves, and number of buds. The interactions between IAA-producing bacteria and dolomite dosage affected plant height, number of leaves, and number of buds.
