Abstract

Socialization and training in making water filter devices with activated carbon for household purposes, 1Widya Mulya, 2Maslina, 3Lina Yuliana, University of Balikpapan, Pupuk Raya Street Gunung Bahagia, Balikpapan City, the burden of impurities on the river increases, resulting in an increase in the processing burder on water tratment plants, so that the quality of water received by the community sometimes decreases such as smelly, colored and turbid, so community service is conducted regarding the socialization and training of water purifier manufacture with activated carbon media household designation. The lecture method was chosen to provide an explanation, the question and answer method is very important for participants both when receiving an explanation and understanding, this simulation method is very important given to participants to provide opportunities to practice the lecture material obtained on how to make activated carbon from a coconut shell, how to manufacture a water filter equipped with activated carbon for household purposes. The results of the manufacture of activated carbon include containers/ cans on the lid are given a few holes, coconut shell as raw meterial for making activated carbon cleaned from fibers, burn containers/ cans containing coconut shell (which is tightly closed) until the embers of combustion are almost gone. the results of the manufacture of water purification equipment, using a 600 ml drink bottle was given a hole for the inlet and outlet of water, at the bottom inserted 5 cm thick a activated carbon then covered by a 5 cm thick cotton layer. Abstract

The high population growth rate results in an increase in the volume of waste. So far, most people still view waste as useless waste, not as a resource that needs to be utilized. According to SNI 19-3964-1994, municipal solid waste generation is 2 – 2,5 Liters/person/day or 0,4 – 0,5 kg/person/day, small town waste generation is 1,5 – 2 Liters/person/day or 0,3 – 0,4 kg/person/day, the waste generation for large/ metroppolitan cities is greater that 3 Liters/person/day (Center for Resettlement Research an Developmen, 2010). With the reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) program, the amount of waste generation can be reduced. To implement 3R based waste management, the waste reduction process begins with waste sorting. Sorting handling activities according to the type and nature. Based in data from the Balikpapan City Environmental Service, the averange waste production from January 2018 to May 2018 reached 344,73 tons/day. The program for sorting and processing waste from sources is still limited, in Gunung Bahagia Village the success rate has only reached 60%. Waste sorting based on characteristics, the importance of providing understanding and application of waste sorting to the community as a waste producer. Waste sorting is the first step taken to reduce the level of waste in the TPA. Waste sorting should be carried out from waste produciing sources. Waste sorting is carried out based on waste characteristics. Garbage has the characteristics of being easily biogefradable or what is called organic waste, it takes a long tim (years, decades, hundreds of years) to decompose or what is called inorganic waste, waste of hazardous and toxic materials. By sorting waste based on cheracteristics, waste processing can run effectively and efficiently, has econimic value and environmental sustainability. Organic waste has economic value from processing in the form of compost. Inorganic waste has economic value, because this type of waste can be reused and recycled. For hazardous and toxic waste materials, the sorting can reduce environmentals pollution, considering that this type of waste is very easy to react.

Abstract

Covid19 socialization and social serviceactivities are community service activities in an effort to help people filfill their life needs and solve the community problems by especially indealing withCOVID19 transmission activities are carried out through the Covid19 socialization and social service program which is a communityservice-based activity to increase public knowledge concerning effort to break the chain of Covid19 transmission carried out in RT 2, 3 and 4 of Sepinggan Raya District, Balikpapan City with service methods in the form of counseling activities, demonstrations, distribution of masks and basic necessities and spraying Disenfektan in residential areas. The results showed a positive response from the government and active participation of community.

Abstract

Soekarno Hatta Road is one of the road shaft beetween Balikpapan and Samarinda which has 119 kilometres long. This road is province roads that had been through out or passed by with typical heavy and light vehicles which has high intensity accident level. This research is aimed to devise factor and characteristic of accidents along Sokearno Hatta roads from zero kilometres until 13th kilometres. This research begun with roads survey observation and secondary data collection including with roads accidents documents for the pass 3 years.( which is in years of 2015 – 2017). Data analysis prepared with calculating numbers of accidents using formula EAN (Equivalent Accidents Number) and UCL Method (Upper Control Limit) for determination area with high risk accidents (Black Spot). Anatomy Accidents Data Documents were enumerated to analyze in that specified area. That can be conclude that the numbers of accidents on Soekarno Hatta Street from zero kilometres until 13th kilometreswith EAN method i.g : more than 84 times bigger different from UCL value i.g: 43,3. Accidents that was happened in the mornings at weekdays Monday to Friday which were implicate 2 motorcycles and passenger in fifthteen till twenty years old students (boys).

Abstract

Pekerjaan pengangkatan (lifting) merupakan salah satu pekerjaan dengan katagori risiko tinggi (high risk job). Gagalnya pengangkatan beban, rusaknya alat peralatan, rusaknya material yang diangkat, dan kerusakan lingkungan kerja disekitarnya, serta cidera atau bahkan terjadinya kematian adalah bagian dari rangkaian bahaya yang mungkin saja terjadi saat proses pekerjaan pengangkatan dengan melibatkan pesawat angkat (mobile crane) dan peralatan angkat (lifting gear). Fokus penelitian ini adalah salah satu upaya untuk menemukan jawaban penyebab atas terjadinya kegagalan proses pengangkatan yang berakibat pada kecelakaan kerja pada proses pekerjaan pengangkatan di lingkungan pekerjaan. Diharapan hasil penelitian ini nantinya dapat menjadi pedoman atau rujukan untuk melaksanakan proses pekerjaan pengangkatan dengan baik, lancar, aman dan selamat. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ada tiga faktor yang menciptakan peluang terjadinya kecelakaan kerja khususnya pada pekerjaan pengangkatan dengan melibatkan pesawat angkat (mobile crane) yaitu (a) Faktor manusia; (b) Faktor Alat, Peralatan, dan Lingkungan Kerja; dan (c) Faktor Sistem Manajemen dan Budaya Perusahaan. Meskipun diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut, faktor manusia memegang peranan penting dan dominan menciptakan peluang terjadinya kecelakaan kerja dan menghadirkan penyakit akibat kerja. Penguasaan ilmu pengetahun dasar seperti fisika dan matematika sangat diperlukan untuk memecahkan permasalahan khususnya pekerjaan pengangkatan yang melibatkan pesawat angkat. Disamping kepatuhan pekerja akan prosedur kerja, juga berperan penting dalam upaya menghindarkan kecelakaan kerja.

Abstract

Process Safety is a branch of the science of safety that focuses on special accident control and characteristic of the process industry. Process Safety focuses on preventing the acute release of energy or substance in harmful quantities and limiting the magnitude and consequences of the discharge event. Process Safety can be achieved by reducing hazards and risks incurred at a wide acceptable level by the organization and / or society (Marshall and Ruhemann (IIPS), 2007). One such release is the Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) which according to the American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice (API RP) 754 is the release of flammable, toxic, corrosive, reactive, thermal, and pressure material from primary containment which includes: tanks, pressure vessels, pipes, trucks, rail cars, or equipment as primary containers or used for processing with the potential to cause damage. In the American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice (API RP) 750 elements of Assuring The Quality and Mechanical Integrity of Critical Equipment that pressure vessels, machines and pipes shall be designed, manufactured, installed and maintained or inspected in accordance with required requirements. One form of corporate risk management is to conduct inspections as one of the Preventive Safeguards in Process Safety to prevent Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC). Abstract

Construction work is a solid job of activities with a high enough level of risk such as heavy lifting work, working at height and limited space work the effects of the work in the event of an accident include damage to the equipment used, damage to the environment around the project and loss of workers' lives and the latter effect is called fatality as a whole these effects will affect the schedule of the project. project elesaian as well as swelling construction costs. Based on data from the Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS) Employment 2015, the number of work accidents reached 105,182 cases of the total, 38% of the total was accidents of workers falling from a height. Abstract

Street sweepers in carrying out their work are very vulnerable to various risks, especially safety and health risks such as the risk of hearing loss due to noise, stress, dehydration, being hit by a vehicle, as well as health problems due to fatigue, bacteria, respiratory system disorders caused by inhaling dust and vehicle fumes. The purpose of the study was to determine the dangers and conduct an assessment of the safety and health risks of workers and to find out the control efforts that have been made to road sweepers. The research methodology used is descriptive qualitative. In conducting risk identification and assessment using the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) standard AS/NZS 4360 method. The total risk level is 27 categories with details of 7 (seven) Low risk levels, 15 (fifteen) Medium risk levels, and 5 (five) levels of High risk. After controlling for each existing risk using the OHSAS 18001 guidelines, namely elimination, substitution, engineering control, administration, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). After the risk is handled with the hierarchy of control, the assessment is carried out again on the remaining risks of control with the results of the study on 27 risks down to 22 low risks and 5 medium risks. Abstract

Fires have detrimental effects, including: human casualties, lost or reduced job opportunities, and others. In Balikpapan, fires were recorded from the Regional Disaster Management Agency's recapitulation for the last 6 years, there were 417 cases of building fires. PT Puninar Infinite Raya Balikpapan is a company engaged in logistics, warehouse and trucking as well as custom clearance, which has activities that can trigger flashpoints that can cause fires during work. The type of research used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. This study was conducted to determine whether or not the implementation of emergency response procedures at PT Puninar Infinite Raya Balikpapan was appropriate. As a basis of reference in matching data at PT Puninar Infinite Raya, the author uses the SOP Emergency Response Plan (PIR-SOP-007/HSE) of PT Puninar Infinite Raya and the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 26 of 2008, concerning Technical Requirements for Fire Protection Systems in Buildings and the Environment. as a reference to find evidence of discrepancies in the study, the authors will conduct interviews to find evidence of discrepancies and use the formulation of effectiveness. The test results from this study with an average value of the application rate of fire emergency response procedures of 90.5% which means that it is effective at PT Puninar Infinite Raya. Based on the level of conformity of Emergency Procedures and SOPs at 78%, Emergency Response Units at 83%, Egress Facilities at 82%, Gathering Places at 100%, Maintenance and Installation of APARs at 100% and Fire Alarms at 100%.

Abstract

Good raw and clean raw material storage and good recording from restaurant workers is a standard of the Indonesian health minister's regulation on food hygiene and sanitation services. This research is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. The number of samples in this study as much as 2 samples. Sampling of this sample data through interviews and observation. Data analysis is used to calculate the percentage of observations. The results of this study show that 80% of the standard food management in Permenkes RI No.1096 / Menkes / per / VI / 2011. And other results from this research is showing 20% ​​where the management of raw material storage in the restaurant is not in accordance with Permenkes. These mismatches because no Activities of first in First out and rooms that are too humid.
