Abstract

Nabila F, Ferisya MZ, Ameilia M, J Novitasari, Riyanti TE, Aprilya T, Umayah A, Gunawan B, Arsi A. 2022. Intensity of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) insect pests attack in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatera. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 504-512. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).The increase in the demand for eggplant production is not accompanied by an increase in the amount of production, which is caused by the low productivity of eggplant due to insect pests attack. This study aimed to determine the intensity of insect pests on eggplant in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The method used is a survey or observation in the field to observe the species of insect pests, symptoms, and the intensity of insect pests by taking 20 random plant samples (random sampling). This research was conducted on three fields with different locations. Insect pests found included mealybug (Planococcus citri), whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), leafhopper (Empoasca fabae), ladybug (Epilachna sparsa), weevil (Hypomeces squamosus), and tobacco cutworm (Spodoptera litura). Symptoms of the dominant pest attack in the form of hollow leaves caused by Spodoptera litura larvae. The level of damage from S. litura occured in the vegetative phase where the larvae eat young leaves. The data obtained were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA followed by the Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test at the 5% level. The results showed that the highest attack intensity of Spodoptera litura was in Timbangan Village (26.8 ± 1.92)% so that the attack rate could be categorized as high. The intensity of attacks in Permata Baru Village is (15.6 ± 2.70)% and the attack rate is categorized as medium. The smallest attack intensity was in Tanjung Pering Village (8.4 ± 12.07)% so that the attack rate was categorized as low.

Abstract

Meidi E, Pakpahan YM, Nadia N, Yuana Y, Dani DR, Nurfadila Y, Nasution MP, Umayah A, Gunawan B, Arsi A.  2022. Population abundance of fruit fly species (Diptera : Tephritidae) on citrus plantation in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 607-613. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Citrus plants Ogan Ilir Regency is one of the areas producing horticultural crops and fruits, including citrus fruits (Citrus sp). Citrus plants are attacked by pests caused by fruit flies (Bactrocera sp). The purpose of this study was to determine the population and abundance of fruit flies (Bactrocera sp) on citrus plants. Sampling was carried out randomly (random sampling) using a hanging bottle trap that was installed for 1x24 hours. The results of the field research showed that fruit flies on citrus plants in Timbangan Village, Palem Raya, and Tanjung Pering found one species, namely Bactrocera dorsalis The results of this observation showed a decrease in the population of B. dorsalis and in each sampling. The highest individual population was found in Palem Raya Village, while the lowest population was found in Tanjung Pering Village. The population of fruit flies in test 1 contained 569 fruit flies, in replicate 2 there were 350 fruit flies, and in replicate 3 there were 327 fruit flies. A total of 1,246 B. dorsalis in Timbangan, Palem Raya, and Tanjung Pering villages were trapped. The conclusion from this observation is that B. dorsalis is a species of fruit fly found in citrus plantations in the villages of Timbangan, Palem Raya, and Tanjung Pering and the average population is 415 fruit flies. The use of hanging bottle traps as traps is an effective solution in controlling individual populations of fruit flies on citrus plant.

Abstract

Indayani I, Pulungan AS, Prasatya D, Miranda M, Mardiyah NU, Ramadhani CS, Umayah A, Gunawan B, Arsi A. 2022. Inventory and identification of mites on roses in Ogan Ilir District, South Sumatra Province. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-10 Tahun 2022, Palembang 27 Oktober 2022. pp. 751-758. Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Roses are widely cultivated by the public because of their beautiful and beautiful appearance as well as their fragrant and distinctive aroma, so they are nicknamed the queen of flowers, but on the other hand, roses are easily attacked by various species of mites. This study aimed to determine the species of mites on roses so that this research can make it easier to recognize and overcome the symptoms of mite attacks on roses. This research was conducted in the villages of Timbangan, Palem Raya, Sembabu Island, and Tanjung Sejaro, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province using survey and sampling methods. The results of the study have obtained 2 species of mites with the genus Tetranychus spp. The spread of mites occurs rapidly due to wind and human activities. Mites are polyphagous, so the possibility of expanding the host due to this pest should be watched out for. Mites attack can cause the process of formation of leaves and stems to be hampered so that the productivity of ornamental plants decreases. The mites damage the plant by sucking the liquid from the leaf cells which results in pale spots due to the damaged epidermal cells due to being sucked in. Although the individual damage caused by mites is small, with a population of thousands of mites attacking plants, it will cause more injuries so that it can reduce the photosynthetic ability of plants. So, roses are plants that are liked by many people but are often attacked by mites. It is better if the rose has been attacked by mites to minimize the spread of the attack, it is expected to spray pesticide liquid, rely on natural enemies, and plant high-yielding varieties.

Inventory of insect insfesting chili  cultivation in sub district Air Salek, district Banyuasin, In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-8 Tahun 2020, Palembang 20 Oktober 2020. pp. xx.  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Inventory of Insect Infesting  Chili Cultivation in Sub District Air Salek, District Banyuasin Capsicum annuum L is one of the important horticultural crops cultivated in Indonesia and has high economic value. Chili plant is never been free from the associated insect activity. This field practice aims to find out the species species and insect population in the red chili crop. The field practice has been carried out at the farmers' chilli crop in  Sub District Air Salek, Banyuasin Regency. Insect identification was carried out at the Entomology Laboratory of Plant Pests and Diseases at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The implementation was carried out by direct observation using the census method by applying purposive sampling technique and using steiner trap fruit flies. The results showed that the populations of fruit fly in the first land, second and third fields was different for each observation. The fruit flies found were two species i.e. Bactrocera carambolae and Bactrocera umbrosa. There are several insects associated with chili plants, namely Coccineilla transversalis, Menochillus sexmaculatus, Micraspis discolor, Micraspis frenata, Aphis gossypii, Spodoptera litura and Altica cyanae. The number of insect populations in a plant is influenced by biotic and abiotic factors. Whether it's from the condition of the plants around or by the application of pesticides in the chili area.
