Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in identifying and addressing students’ reading difficulties. The main problems observed among students included weak articulation skills and low phonological awareness, which contributed to inadequate foundational literacy abilities. The training was conducted at Darussalam Elementary School on September 6, 2025, and involved 20 participants consisting of kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school teachers. The training employed lectures, group discussions, and hands-on practice, with a focus on articulation and phonological exercises. The evaluation was carried out using the Kirkpatrick model at the reaction and learning levels through feedback questionnaires, pretests, and posttests. The results indicated a significant improvement between participants’ pretest and posttest scores, demonstrating the effectiveness of the training in strengthening teachers’ understanding of the causes of reading difficulties. Observational data further supported these findings by showing improved accuracy in participants’ pronunciation of letters. Despite these positive outcomes, several technical challenges were encountered, such as large group sizes and suboptimal classroom conditions. Overall, the training proved effective and is recommended for continued implementation with improvements in technical and management aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between intelligence level and school readiness in children aged 5–7 years who are about to enter elementary school. A total of 139 students participated, completing an intelligence test using the Coloured Progressive Matrices (CPM) and a school readiness test using the Nijmeegse Schoolbekwaamheids Test (NST). Results showed that most students had intelligence levels in the Grade I/Superior category (72%), Above Average (13%), Average (10%), Below Average (1%), and Mentally Deficient (4%). NST results indicated that 81% of students were classified as ready, 6% as undecided, and 14% as not ready. Less optimal readiness aspects included understanding numbers and comparisons, concentration, body awareness, fine motor skills, shape recognition, and story comprehension. Statistical analysis showed a Sig. value of 0.293 > 0.05, indicating no significant relationship between CPM and NST scores. These findings suggest that intelligence alone does not directly determine school readiness; other factors such as parenting style, developmental stimulation, physical health, motivation, and learning experiences also play a significant role. The study recommends holistic interventions that address both cognitive and non-cognitive skills to better prepare children for primary education.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve time management skills among members of a futsal student organization at SMA X, considering the high academic demands that often interfere with organizational participation. The program involved 20 students and employed a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design, evaluated using Kirkpatrick’s training evaluation model focusing on reaction and learning levels. Reaction level was measured using a Likert-scale questionnaire, while learning level was assessed through time management knowledge tests. The results showed an increase in the mean reaction score from 3.12 (pre-test) to 4.21 (post-test), with a significant difference based on paired samples t-test (p 0.05). At the learning level, the mean score increased from 3.10 to 9.85, with Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test indicating a significant improvement (p 0.05). These findings indicate that time management training effectively enhanced participants’ responses and knowledge, highlighting its importance in supporting student organizations’ effectiveness and sustainability.
