Abstract

One of the impacts of the spread of covid 19 for the community is the decline in the economic life of the people affected by covid 19. Efforts to revive the economy of the community is done by providing training to the community to produce processed food products that have economic value. One of the most popular processed food products today is banana stem chips. Banana stem chips are processed from the midrib of banana stems, which so far have not been widely used by the community as food. Merauke is an area with an abundance of banana plant diversity, one of which is in Sermayam Village. The PKK women's group in Sermayam Village is one of the community groups that are both targets and partners in this service activity. Partners involved in this service activity are PKK women in Sermayam Village. This training activity aims to increase knowledge and skills to process processed food products from materials available in the local area. With this activity partner members are given training to process banana stems into banana stem chips so that they become more economically valuable. Partners are also given training to package attractive products so that their processed products can be accepted by the market. Seeing the enthusiasm of partners in this activity, partners are expected to increase their productivity so that they are more empowered and independent.

Abstract

The aim to this study was to determine the effect of plastic silver mulch and rice straw mulch on soil moisture conservation of green bean so that the plant can grow in dry season with enough water. The method used in this study was a randomized block design with three treatments: no mulch (T0), plastic silver mulch (T1) and rice straw mulch (T2). The parameters observed were physical soil of initial and final research, soil moisture measurements every 3 days, as well as growth and crop production parameters including plant height, number of seeds in pods, 100 seeds weight, sample plant production and total production. The results showed that the physical of soil analyzed were clay textured soil, preliminary porosity 60.77 and at the end of the study increased to 77.50%, organic matter 1.52%, initial bulk density 1.04 g/cm3 at the end of the study decreased to 0.60 g/cm3, soil permeability of 7.77 cm / hour and available water is 13.95%. The use of rice straw mulch from the beginning to the end of the study showed the best water content while the use of plastic silver mulch and no mulch showed water content not much different. The use of palstic silver mulch gives the highest yield of the best crops on 14 HST measurements where the plastic silver mulch differs markedly by the rice straw mulch and no mulch. The yield of green beans produced in the treatment of plastic silver mulch using the best results with a total production of 2.00 tons/ha, this result is significantly different from no mulch but not significantly different of rice straw mulch. Rice straw mulch is better used for soil conservation because it can improve soil aeration, retain water, prevent soil erosion, and increase organic matter on the soil.

Abstract

The Dwitrap farmer group's sago processing industry in Tambat Village produces sago starch/sago flour products. Apart from producing its main product, the sago processing process also produces side products in the form of solid waste and liquid waste. Waste if not handled properly will have a negative impact on the environment. Solid waste from sago processing is in the form of sago dregs. Solid waste from the sago industry contains 56.86% cellulose and 37.70% lignin. Solid waste if disposed of and left unchecked will cause environmental problems such as odor and increased soil acidity (pH<4) which has an impact on inhibiting growth and even causing death in plants. Therefore, proper handling and management of sago industrial waste is needed to reduce the impact on the environment. The content in sago pulp waste is very useful for various purposes such as animal feed and raw material for making organic fertilizer both solid and liquid. Sago solid waste organic fertilizer can be used by the community as a safe fertilizer for plants in community gardens and also BSF larvae can be used as livestock and fish feed. In addition, the purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge to the community about the impact of waste generated and to provide skills in utilizing waste to make it more economical. The method used to achieve this target is socialization about the impact of sago waste and its potential utilization, training or hands-on practice in making liquid organic fertilizer using black soldier fly larvae bioreactor, activity evaluation, and community assistance. The results of the socialization show that there is a transfer of knowledge to the community. This is indicated by the number of questions asked by the participants to the presenters. After the presentation, the presenter gave feedback questions about the material and training that had just been carried out and the participants were able to answer them appropriately. This indicates an increase in public knowledge about the importance of processing sago waste into organic fertilizer, both solid and liquid. This understanding is important so that awareness arises about the importance of preserving the environment and the sustainability of agriculture in the future. In addition, the training also added new skills to the community, namely that the community could produce both solid and liquid organic fertilizer from kitchen waste and solid sago waste with a simple method.

Abstract

The level of land suitability for lowland rice can be determined by conducting a land suitability evaluation. Information related to land suitability classes can be used as a reference in taking appropriate action in managing rice fields so that production targets can be achieved. The aim of this research is to determine the actual land suitability class for lowland rice crops in Suka Maju Village, Malind District, Merauke Regency. This research used a survey method and soil sampling was carried out on two types of land, namely paddy fields and grasslands. Data collection was carried out by direct observation, laboratory analysis and data analysis. The data analysis technique to determine the subclass of land suitability is to match the growing requirements for lowland rice plants with the quality and characteristics of the land according to the Technical Guidelines for Land Evaluation for Agricultural Commodities, 2011 Revised Edition. The results of the research show that the land suitability class for lowland rice plants is on both types of land. (rice fields and grasslands) are classified as marginal suitability class (S3) with the limiting factors being rooting media (rc), nutrient retention (nr) and available nutrients (na). Basically, the limiting factors in this research can be improved by liming, fertilizing and adding organic materials.
