Abstract

Neighborhood head intention in tobacco control: the effect of leaflet and video-based health education in Kutai Kartanegara DistrictPurposeThe purpose of this paper was to determine the effect of health education through counseling with leaflets and video in improving knowledge, attitude, and intention in smoking control by the heads of Kutai Kartanegara. MethodsA quasi-experimental study was conducted involving 68 heads of a neighborhood who were divided into an experimental group and a control group with equal people in each group in Kutai Kartanegara. Leaflets-based counseling was given to the experimental group, while video-based counseling was given to the control group. ResultsThe study found that there was an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and intentions in both groups. Results showed the health education using leaflets had better influence compared to the video method. ConclusionHealth education and counseling using leaflet and video media provided a significant influence in increasing knowledge, attitude and intention to control the smoking of the heads of the neighborhood. The method of health education through counseling with leaflets was more effective than video in improving the heads of neighborhood’s knowledge and intention of smoking control. The use of leaflet media and video playback in health education activities needs to be improved for better effectiveness of cigarette control.

Abstract

Effectiveness of video game addiction prevention using ludo game for elementary school studentsPurposeThis study aimed to determine the effectiveness of ‘Ludo game’ for increasing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of elementary school students concerning video-game addiction.MethodsThe research was a quasi-experimental study with pre and post tests and a control group design. The subjects were 99 elementary school students who were divided into treatment groups (two groups of intervention) and a control group. The data were collected using a questionnaire of knowledge, attitudes and behavior. Data analysis used paired t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) with significance level of 95% (p <0.05). ResultsThe characteristics of the study subjects in all three groups before the intervention were normally distributed. Paired t-test results showed that the ludo game and interactive lectures can improve knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. However, there was no significant difference of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors through Ludo compared to health education through interactive lectures in health education delivery. ConclusionLudo game and interactive lectures together can effectively improve the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of elementary school students. Health education through ludo games was no more effective than the interactive lecture methods in increasing the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of students on the prevention of video-game addictions.

Abstract

Exploration of pictorial health warnings in cigarette packagesPurposeThis study conducted to examine effectiveness of pictorial health warnings in cigarette packages to reduce smoking intention.MethodA population-based, qualitative study, were used in this study. 20 partisipants were observed and indept-interviewed. ResultsThreats after seeing a picture warnings on cigarette packs is the perception of the dangers of images and feelings of fear, disgust, pity, worry, mediocre. Efficacy after seeing a picture warnings on cigarette packs is the belief of the image and the impact on individuals after viewing images.ConclusionThreat of pictorial warnings are not only affected by the warning image itself but also the experience of the viewer and aspects of the warning image such as color, clarity of image, and message content.

Abstract

Indonesian TV broadcasters often violate the broadcasting code of ethics. The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) provides various tiered sanctions, from the lightest to the most severe, namely the revocation of broadcasting operations licenses. However, all sanctions are administrative in nature. Therefore, they often repeat violations even though they are in the same category. This article discusses new ideas regarding sanctions for violating the TV broadcasting code of ethics. The method used is the evaluative method. The results of the study conclude that violence in the TV broadcasting code of ethics must be expanded at the individual level, not only at the organizational unit. Sanctions against individuals who violate can be in the form of a record of violations that can prohibit a person from having a career in the TV broadcasting industry. People generally fear that they will not be able to earn money to support themselves. Sanctions should lead to better responsibility for TV workers so that they are more concerned about producing healthy TV shows and more compliant with regulations. The researcher believes that implementing expanded sanctions will have implications for better compliance in complying with the television broadcasting code of ethics among television workers.

Abstract

Periklanan telah menjadi media utama bagi para produsen untuk membranding produk mereka. Dalam mengiklankan produk, pemilihan publik figur yang tepat menjadi krusial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang persepsi dan sikap individu terhadap iklan yang melibatkan publik figur. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan metode pengumpulan data yang meliputi observasi, wawancara, studi literatur dan studi dokumentasi. Fokus penelitian adalah untuk menyoroti pentingnya kepercayaan publik dalam iklan yang melibatkan publik figur, serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kepercayaan tersebut, sehingga memberikan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pentingnya memilih publik figur yang kredibel dan sesuai dengan produk yang diiklankan sehingga memberikan panduan bagi praktisi periklanan dalam memilih strategi iklan yang efektif untuk membangun kepercayaan publik. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih mendalam tentang faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kepercayaan publik dalam konteks iklan yang melibatkan publik figur, serta memberikan panduan bagi praktisi pemasaran dalam memilih strategi iklan yang efektif.

Abstract

In this era of social media, fear of missing out (FOMO) is a common phenomenon that occurs in society, including adolescents. FOMO is a psychological phenomenon in the form of anxiety and a sense of being left behind from social activities that develop in society. FOMO can become a psychological problem if it is excessive or persistent. Some experts argue that FOMO is not related to gender but rather to personal characteristics and other causes, including the frequency of social media use that has become an integral part of people's lives. This study investigates the influence of the frequency of social media use on the level of FOMO in adolescents in the social media era. The study used a quantitative approach with data collection through questionnaires to adolescents actively using social media. Researchers sent questionnaires online to respondents with the inclusion criteria of men and women actively using social media and willing to be research respondents. There were 300 respondents involved in this study. Based on the t-test statistical analysis with a significant level of 0.05, the researcher concluded that the frequency of social media use has an influence on FOMO. The results of this study are significant findings related to FOMO studies that are useful for various interests, especially for adolescent education, to prevent the negative impact of FOMO in the form of stress and emotional disorders.

Abstract

Introduction: The use of social media as a channel for political communication is becoming increasingly common in modern society. Some users seek virality to influence public opinion. Among them, some employ manipulative tactics to achieve virality, which can undermine deliberative democracy. Unfortunately, the impact of manipulative virality on deliberative democracy has not received sufficient attention. This study aims to describe how manipulative virality poses a threat to deliberative democracy. The researchers focus on five social media platforms--X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, because Indonesians widely use these for political communication. Methods: The researchers use a qualitative, exploratory approach, focusing on relevant documents using interpretive analysis and observation to study of X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Findings: Research identifies four methods of manipulative virality that undermine deliberative democracy: using fake accounts, deploying bots, paying buzzers, and spreading hoaxes. These practices threaten and subvert deliberative democracy by creating false appearances of support, potentially distorting public opinion, misleading policymakers, and damaging society. Manipulative virality often benefits wealthy groups, as they can afford to pay buzzers and deploy bots, unlike poorer groups. Originality: This study explores the role of social media in public discourse to promote deliberative democracy. It offers novelty by presenting an in-depth analysis that digital media has the potential to undermine deliberative democracy due to the use of bots, fake accounts, and paid influencers. The findings emphasize the importance of preserving authentic public dialogue while addressing unethical practices that manipulate social media for personal or political gain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pemasaran yang digunakan oleh harian Radar Jogja dalam memperluas pangsa pasarnya di wilayah Yogyakarta dan sekitarnya. Fokus penelitian meliputi cara-cara yang diterapkan untuk meningkatkan penjualan, menjaring konsumen baru, serta faktor-faktor yang mendukung dan menghambat keberhasilan strategi pemasaran tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian meliputi bagian redaksi, periklanan, dan pemasaran Radar Jogja, dengan data primer berasal dari wawancara dengan Marketing General Manager dan Pemimpin Redaksi, serta data sekunder berupa dokumen-dokumen perusahaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Radar Jogja berhasil memanfaatkan platform digital seperti website dan media sosial, khususnya Instagram, untuk meningkatkan jangkauan dan interaksi dengan pembaca. Selain itu, strategi komunikasi yang efektif, inovasi konten berita, serta pendekatan bauran pemasaran (produk, harga, tempat, promosi) berperan signifikan dalam mempertahankan eksistensi di tengah persaingan media massa. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangan teoritis bagi kajian strategi komunikasi pemasaran dan manfaat praktis sebagai bahan evaluasi bagi Radar Jogja untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pemasaran di masa yang akan datang. This study aims to analyze the marketing strategies used by the daily newspaper Radar Jogja in expanding its market in the Yogyakarta area and its surroundings. The focus of the study includes the methods applied to increase sales, attract new customers, and the factors that support and 54inhibit the success of these marketing strategies. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of the study included the editorial, advertising, and marketing departments of Radar Jogja, with primary data coming from interviews with the Marketing General Manager and Editor-in-Chief, and secondary data from company documents. The results of the study indicate that Radar Jogja has succeeded in utilizing digital platforms such as websites and social media, especially Instagram, to increase reach and interaction with readers. In addition, effective communication strategies, innovation in news content, and marketing mix approaches (product, price, place, promotion) play a significant role in maintaining existence amidst mass media competition. This study is expected to provide theoretical contributions to the study of marketing communication strategies and practical benefits as an evaluation for Radar Jogja to improve marketing effectiveness in the future.

Abstract

Kejahatan dunia maya yang semakin marak terjadi berhasil menarik perhatian berbagai kalangan masyarakat. Hal ini terjadi seiring dengan pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang mempengaruhi hampir setiap aspek kehidupan manusia atau biasa dikenal sebagai Era Disruptif. Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan akses mudah ke internet telah meningkatkan tindakan kriminal online seperti pencurian identitas, penipuan online, dan penyebaran malware. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengetahuan keamanan digital Siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama di era disruptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur kepada 10 siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama yang memiliki dan mengoperasikan gadget di Kabupaten Pacitan. Analisis data dilakukan sejak dilakukan penelitian sampai dengan pelaporan. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa mayoritas siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama memiliki pengetahuan yang memadai dalam hal keamanan digital walaupun terdapat perbedaan pemahaman. Beragam faktor, seperti latar belakang keluarga, peran guru di sekolah, dan lingkungan mereka menyebabkan perbedaan dalam tingkat pemahaman mengenai keamanan digital. Penelitian ini memiliki kontribusi dalam memberikan wawasan mendalam mengenai keamanan digital yang dapat digunakan sebagai dasar untuk mengembangkan strategi pendidikan yang lebih efektif dan melindungi mereka dalam lingkungan digital yang semakin kompleks.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh pentingnya akan kesadaran keamanan digital bagi masyarakat desa. Berkembangnya digital di era disruptif ini membuat peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti terkait kesadaran keamanan digital pada masayarakat desa. Faktor-faktor yang berbeda dari setiap masyarakat seperti pendidikan dan akses yang kurang memadai, membuat perbedaan kesadaran keamanan digital. Sehingga keamanan digital ini harus di pahami bagi pengguna perangkat digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesadaran keamanan digital di masyarakat desa Jimbar Wonogiri di era disruptif ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan mengunakan metode wawancara dan observasi mendalam kepada masyarakat yang menggunakan perangkat digital di desa Jimbar Wonogiri, serta data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis mengunakan reduksi data, penyajian data dan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar masyarakat desa Jimbar wonogiri memiliki perangkat digital dan internet, tetapi kurang paham akan keamanan, dan Faktor yang mempengaruhi kesadaran keamanan digital salah satunya kejadian penipuan yang langsung dialami masyarakat desa Jimbar Wonogiri.
