Abstract

Chronic kidney disease is a global health problem with increasing incidence and prevalence, long-term treatment, poor prognosis, and high treatment costs. Kidney failure patients face various complex issues, such as fluid and dietary restrictions, long-term treatments that result in loss of freedom, and dependence on healthcare services, affecting their quality of life. One effort to improve the quality of life in chronic kidney disease patients is the health education and Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) program. SEFT is a psychological support technique focusing on holistic and spiritual well-being. This technique uses emotions and physical touch, often combined with prayer. The aim of this literature review is to determine the impact of the combination of education and the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) on the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients with double-lumen catheter placement. This literature review was conducted by searching the results of publications in the Google Scholar, ProQuest, and Pubmed databases between 2019-2024 using the PRISMA method. The keywords used were self-management education AND spiritual emotional freedom technique AND quality of life AND CKD. The search for relevant articles included 13 sources that met the inclusion criteria. The conclusion is that the combination of education and the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique has an impact on the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients with double-lumen catheter placement

Abstract

ABSTRACTHIV/AIDS remains a public health burden globally. Health workers play a crucial role in care provision but often demonstrate discriminatory behaviors due to stigma, lack of training, or insufficient support. Objective to analyze the influence of capability, opportunity, and motivation on health workers’ behavior in providing HIV/AIDS care based on the COM-B model. A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted among 178 healthcare workers at a district general hospital in Pekalongan, Indonesia. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with multiple linear regression to examine the effect of each component of the COM-B model on care behavior. capability opportunity, and motivation significantly influenced behavior (p 0.05). Motivation was the dominant factor (β = 0.398), followed by capability (β = 0.312) and opportunity (β = 0.257). Enhancing motivation through emotional support and professional reinforcement, along with strengthening capacity and institutional opportunities, is essential to improve HIV/AIDS care behavior. Implementation of the COM-B model provides a holistic framework to develop targeted interventions. Keywords: HIV/AIDS Care, COM-B Model, Health Worker Behavior, Motivation, Capability, Opportunity, Indonesia.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that requires long-term care and sustained support at the community level. Limited mental health workforce resources and the high burden experienced by families highlight the importance of involving mental health cadres as a key strategy in community-based mental health services. Training for mental health cadres has been reported to enhance their capacity to support the care of patients with schizophrenia; however, the available scientific evidence on this intervention remains scattered and heterogeneous. This scoping review aimed to map the existing scientific evidence on training for mental health cadres in the care of patients with schizophrenia, including the types of interventions, study designs, and reported outcomes. This study employed a scoping review design following the Arksey and O’Malley framework and the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidelines, with reporting in accordance with PRISMA-ScR. A literature search was conducted across five databases: PubMed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, and Garuda. Inclusion criteria comprised studies that examined training, education, or capacity-building interventions for mental health cadres within the context of schizophrenia care. The selection process resulted in eight articles, which were analyzed using descriptive and narrative synthesis. The synthesis revealed that most studies employed quasi-experimental and pre-experimental designs. The most common interventions were mental health cadre training and psychoeducation, with outcomes including improvements in cadres’ knowledge, attitudes, skills, perceptions, and self-efficacy. Several studies also reported positive effects on the quality of patient care, medication adherence, and reductions in family burden. Training for mental health cadres and community-based psychoeducational interventions are effective in enhancing cadres’ capacity to support the care of patients with schizophrenia. Nevertheless, limitations in study design indicate the need for further research using more robust methodologies to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of cadre-based interventions. Keywords: Mental Health Cadres, Training, Schizophrenia.
