Abstract

Research aims to explore the interaction between Arab culture and local wisdom in Indonesia, particularly in preserving traditional values amidst modernization. This qualitative study employs in-depth interviews and participatory observation to collect data from Muslim community leaders in Jakarta. The findings indicate that traditional values such as mutual cooperation, respect for elders, and religiosity are still highly esteemed, albeit with varying interpretations. Muslim informants integrate religious teachings and ancestral traditions into their daily practices. They negotiate with modernity by adapting traditional values to be relevant to contemporary needs. In conclusion, traditional values persist in modern Muslim society in Indonesia through the selective integration of elements from Arab and local cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study examines how the Rukun Indonesia YouTube channel constructs representations of moderate Islam through multimodal digital da’wah. Although research on online Islamic communication has expanded, few studies analyze how moderate Islamic values are articulated through integrated visual, verbal, and auditory modes, particularly within interfaith contexts. This study addresses this gap by investigating how multimodal strategies shape public perceptions of inclusive Islam. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design using 25 purposively selected podcast videos uploaded between 2022 and 2025. Data consisted of spoken narratives, visual imagery, symbolic elements, background music, and audience comments. Multimodal Discourse Analysis was used to interpret meaning-making across modes, supported by thematic coding of narrative structures and audience responses. The findings indicate that: First, humanitarian narratives and empathetic visual framing function as the primary vehicles for communicating moderate Islamic values. Second, symbols of cultural and religious diversity embedded in visual and musical elements reinforce messages of tolerance and coexistence. Third, audience responses indicate strong emotional engagement and broad acceptance from both Muslim and non-Muslim viewers, suggesting that multimodal da’wah can effectively foster interfaith understanding. These results demonstrate that digital da’wah can operate as a participatory and dialogic space that counters polarizing religious discourse. The study concludes that multimodal strategies offer significant potential for strengthening inclusive Islamic communication and recommends further research on cross-platform comparative models of moderate digital da’wah.

Abstract

Female students living in dormitories encounter various academic, social, and emotional challenges that require resilience to adapt effectively. Gratitude and peer support are considered important factors that help individuals cope with pressures and challenges during dormitory life. This study aimed to examine the influence of gratitude and peer support on resilience among female students residing in Al-Hamdani Dormitory. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The participants were 105 female students selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using gratitude, peer support, and resilience scales that met validity and reliability requirements. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that gratitude and peer support simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on resilience, F(2,102) = 181.66, p < .001, explaining 78.1% of the variance in resilience (R² = .781). Partially, gratitude (t = 6.10, p < .001) and peer support (t = 3.65, p < .001) were significant predictors of resilience. These findings indicate that higher levels of gratitude and stronger peer support are associated with higher resilience among female students in coping with academic demands, social adjustment, and challenges of dormitory life. This study contributes empirical evidence regarding resilience within a dormitory-based educational setting that remains relatively underexplored in Indonesian psychological research.

Abstract

The Special Region of Yogyakarta has unique governmental characteristics, where the reigning Sultan automatically serves as Governor. Problems arose when the Sultan issued a Sabdaraja (Decree) that opened the possibility of leadership succession to women. This customary policy potentially contradicts Special Region Regulation Number 2 of 2015, which normatively requires the Governor to be male. This study aims to examine the implications of the Sultan's dual authority on leadership legitimacy conflicts, identify conflicts between customary law and state law, and formulate possible regulatory harmonization to ensure stable government succession. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach. Data were obtained through a review of laws and regulations, Sabdaraja documents, scientific articles, and news reports related to the dynamics of the Yogyakarta Palace. The results indicate that the basic normative differences between customary law and positive law have the potential to create dual legitimacy conflicts and legal uncertainty regarding the legitimacy of future gubernatorial candidates.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the Sunda Empire as a socio-political phenomenon in the post-truth era, highlighting how public trust can be formed in pseudo-historical claims and its impact on the quality of democracy in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative approach through a literature review modified from a systematic literature review framework to thematic analysis and discourse analysis, with sources consisting of scientific journals, reports, public documents, credible news, and relevant social media content. The synthesis results show that the Sunda Empire builds pseudo-legitimacy through narrative repetition, the use of symbols of authority, a formal communication style, and the exploitation of the social media ecosystem that accelerates virality. The findings also show that public acceptance is influenced by psychological mechanisms such as the illusion of truth effect, the need for identity, and the tendency to trust familiar and emotional information. The implication is that the vulnerability of information and political literacy can weaken public deliberation, increase the space for misinformation, and erode trust in democratic institutions. This study emphasizes strengthening information literacy, media literacy, and political literacy through formal education, community programs, and collaboration with digital platforms as a strategy for democratic resilience in the post-truth era.

Abstract

The key factor in determining success in learning is assessment, as it serves as the teacher’s process for making decisions regarding students’ academic achievement. Therefore, assessments need to be developed to become more systematic and valid. Monoton assessment instruments that are not based on students' developmental stages often eliminate crucial elements in learning, such as creativity capacity, critical thinking, and life skills competence. This research aims for educators to develop a more comprehensive and diverse assessment system, as well as constructive assessment and feedback processes, which are also becoming increasingly important aspects for facilitating more effective and efficient evaluations. Whereas this is study employs a library research method. Drawing on books, journal articles, and publications listed in the references. In this way, all available sources of information can be utilized optimally in generating ideas relevant to the research. The findings of this study on developing assessment at the elementary and madrasah ibtidaiyah (MI/SD) level highlight that teachers’ efforts to evaluate students should involve three types of assessment tools: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Furthermore, the development of assessments at the MI/SD level can be advanced through competency-based evaluation, the integration of technology and the enhancement of teachers’ skills. As a result, the implementation of assessments can be carried out more systematically, efficiently and effectively
