Abstract

This research stems from the anxiety that Islamic boarding schools seen as Islamic educational institutions have different understandings in interpreting religious teachings, so their actualization in society is also different. Al-Muayyad Islamic Boarding School is more moderate, thus it is highlighted as an Islamic educational institution used as a breeding ground for terrorism. This research aims to determine the concept and the implications of education and religious understanding at Islamic Boarding School of Al-Muayyad Surakarta in the community. The type of this research applied descriptive qualitative method of field studies. The data collection used observation, interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, the analysis employed the interpretation of cohesion with the verstehen method. This method means an interpretation attempted to explain the observed sociological phenomena in accordance with the meaning given by the object being observed. The results indicate that the Al-Muayyad Islamic Boarding School as a traditional Islamic educational institution aims to understand and practice Islamic teachings by emphasizing moral values. The concept of Islamic education implemented by Al-Muayyad Islamic Boarding School is in the process of creating integrated values and students’ personalities. First, the commitment of Islamic education to tafaqquh fi al-din. Second, long term education. Third, the concept of integrative education. Fourth, to display the concept of Islamic education as a whole. Al-Muayyad as a salafiyah Islamic Education places Islam as a manhaj al-fikr, building an Islamic character that is tawasuth and inclusive. Aswaja as manhaj al-fikr provides a frame in the creation of Islam respecting tradition, pluralism, tolerance, democracy and other humanistic values in accordance with the concept of maqashid al-syariah which includes five basic human rights. The concept of jihad is comprehended as a form of attitude and response to existing human values, in addition to Al-Muayyad as a sub-culture of society.

Abstract

Persoalan Lembaga Pendidikan Islam di Indonesia tidak dapat lagi dipungkiri telah mengalami stagnansi yang cukup lama. Persoalan-persoalan manajerial yang tidak sistematis dan strategis dalam membawa lembaga Pendidikan Islam merupakan persoalan utama. Upaya menjawab persoalan tersebut tidak serta merta dapat dilakukan dengan seketika, butuh perencanaan yang terukur dan strategis. Kunci utama keberhasilan pengembangan lembaga pendidikan Islam tidak dapat lepas dari pemimpin atau otak pelaku kebijakan yang ada di lembaga tersebut. Seorang pemimpin perlu dan wajib berfikir strategis dalam melakukan pengembangan kelembagaan pendidikan Islam. strategis merupakan gambaran dari upaya menciptakan capaian-capaian masa depan yang lebih baik. Dengan melakukan analisis mendalam terkait kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang dan tantangan, maka setrategi untuk melangkah dalam kurun waktu tiga-sepuluh tahun kedepan menjadi lebih pasti. Formulasi strategi dibangun dari analisis yang mendalam, logis, sistematis, dan ilmiah. Sehingga, Konsep berfikir strategis dengan wujud perencanaan strategis dalam pengembangan kelembagaan Islam menjadi solusi terbaik mengahadapi problematika pengembangan lembaga pendidikan Islam saat ini. It cannot be denied that some problems exist within the Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia and it has undergone quite a long stagnation. One of the major problem is the managerial issues which are not systematic and strategic in bringing Islamic institution. An attempt to answer these questions may not necessarily be done immediately, it takes a measurable and strategic planning. A major key to success the development of Islamic education institutions cannot be separated from the brain's of the leader or policy ruling the institution. A leader needs to be strategic in terms of thinking to develop the Islamic education. It is an overview of the strategic efforts of creating episodic sections for a better future. By doing a thorough analysis of related to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, then the strategy to step within three-ten years in the future become more certain. Strategy formulation is built from a deep analysis, logical, systematic, and scientific. So, the concept of strategic thinking and strategic planning in the form of institutional development of Islam becomes the best solution to achieve the development of Islamic education institutions today.
