Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of pedagogical competence and professional competence on the performance of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at MTs in Mendo Barat District. The research uses a descriptive quantitative approach, with a population consisting of all 35 Islamic Education teachers in the area. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including multiple linear regression, t-tests, and F-tests. The results show that, partially, professional competence has a significant effect on teacher performance, as indicated by a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05). On the other hand, pedagogical competence does not show a significant partial effect, with a significance value of 0.063 (> 0.05). However, when tested simultaneously, both types of competence have a significant influence on teacher performance, contributing 64.6% to the performance variation, as reflected by the adjusted R² value. These findings indicate that improving teacher performance in Islamic Religious Education requires not just one type of competence, but a balanced integration of both. Therefore, enhancing both professional and pedagogical competencies in a complementary manner is crucial in supporting the quality of Islamic education in schools

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine verses in the Qur'an that contain ecological values, such as the principles of khalīfah, amanah, mīzān, and the prohibition of fasād (environmental damage). This study is a qualitative study using a library research approach. The results of the study show that the relevance of the Qur'an to the environmental crisis explicitly emphasizes the importance of preserving ecological values in the Qur'an, which include: "khalīfah (human leadership over the earth), mīzān (natural balance), prohibition against fasād (destruction on earth), i'tidāl and isrāf (moderation and prohibition of waste)“. Meanwhile, the relevance of Qur'anic values to the modern environmental crisis includes: ”Islamic Environmental Ethics Development, Solutions to Consumerism and Exploitation, Integration in Education and Public Policy, Strengthening Ecological Spirituality". The ecological values of the Qur'an in shaping ethics and environmental awareness in the modern era include: “The Qur'an as the basis of ecological ethics, its role in raising contemporary ecological awareness, the role of non-governmental organizations and communities in environmental preservation, the contribution of business actors and the industrial world in environmental preservation, the role of individuals and families in building ecological awareness”.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of rewards and punishments on the motivation of students in memorizing the Qur'an at TPQ Nurul Islam, Payabenua village, using a Qur'anic values approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that rewards, both non-material (praise, appreciation, recognition, and trust from teachers) and material (gifts, certificates, or incentives), are effective in increasing the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of students. Non-material rewards foster self-confidence, inner satisfaction, and love for the Qur'an, while material rewards serve as an initial trigger for motivation with certain limitations so as not to diminish sincerity. Meanwhile, punishment in memorizing the Qur'an is applied in an educational and constructive manner, such as verbal reprimands, repetition of memorization, additional targets, and measured restrictions on rest time. Proportional application that takes into account the psychological condition of students has been proven to increase discipline, responsibility, and awareness in maintaining memorization, while inappropriate punishment can cause fear and decrease motivation. Meanwhile, the application of rewards and punishments is based on the principles of targhib and tarhib, as well as Qur'anic values such as justice, patience, compassion, exemplary behavior, education, and sincerity. Thus, these two approaches not only function as tools for controlling behavior, but also as means of shaping the Qur'anic character and spirituality of students, thereby significantly increasing their motivation to memorize the Qur'an
