Abstract

The poultry processing industry, particularly broiler chicken, plays a vital role in meeting the demand for animal protein in Indonesia. The increase in chicken consumption, as recorded by the Ministry of Agriculture (BPS, 2024), creates opportunities for the development of poultry slaughterhouses (TPUs). This study aims to assess the economic feasibility of TPU Pak Nasir in Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan. The method used is financial analysis, with calculations of Benefit/Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) and Break-Even Point (BEP). The results show that TPU Pak Nasir has a B/C Ratio of 1.99, indicating high financial feasibility. The BEP Price of 25,376 IDR/kg and BEP Production of 29,907 chickens per month indicate the minimum price and volume needed to break even. Sensitivity analysis shows that the business can sustain even with a 10% decline in gross revenue and has the potential for higher profits if revenue increases.

Abstract

The nutrients contained in Moringa leaves can protect spermatozoa from damage during semen cryopreservation. This study investigated the effectiveness of Moringa leaf extract in Andromed extender on the quality of frozen semen from Boer crossbreed goats. Fresh semen was divided into four tubes in equal volume and diluted with Andromed (control), 98% Andromed + 2% Moringa leaf extract (ME-2), 96% Andromed + 4% Moringa leaf extract (ME-4), and 94% Andromed + 6% Moringa leaf extract (ME-6), respectively. Diluted semen was placed in a mini-straw (0.25 mL), equilibrated in a refrigerator at 5°C for 4 hours, and then frozen by positioning the straw 10 cm above the surface of liquid nitrogen for 15 minutes. Variables were evaluated after diluting and thawing, including percentage of spermatozoa motility, live, and intact plasma membrane (IPM). Results of this study showed that the percentage of spermatozoa motility, live, and IPM for ME-4 (56.25, 67.5, and 65.75%) were significantly (p<0.05) higher than control (47.5, 56.75, and 53%), ME-2 (51.25, 59.5, and 56.25%), and ME-6 (51.25, 62.25, and 56%). This study’s findings indicate that adding 4% Moringa leaf extract to Andromed extender is optimal for enhancing the quality of frozen semen in Boer crossbreed goats.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the length of the shelf life of Alabio duck eggs after soakingwuluh starfruit leaves (Averrhoa bilimbi L.). and determine the effect of soaking Alabio duckeggs using wuluh starfruit leaves on the quality of Alabio duck eggs. This research methoduses a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates, eachreplicate consisting of 12 Alabio duck eggs. The treatments in this study were P0 = control orwithout soaking, P1 = soaking eggs for 12 hours using 50% star fruit leaf powder solution, P2= soaking eggs for 18 hours using 50% star fruit leaf powder solution, P3 = soaking eggs for12 hours using 505% star fruit leaf powder solution. After soaking, the eggs were allowed tostand at room temperature and measurements were taken on days 0, 7, 14, and 21 of storage.Data were analyzed with Anova and DMRT. The results showed that soaking Alabio duckeggs using a solution of star fruit leaf powder with a concentration of 50% had an effect onthe quality of Albumen Index, Egg Yolk Index and Haugh Unit (HU) values. Soaking Alabioduck eggs using wuluh star fruit leaf powder solution can maintain the internal quality valueof Alabio duck eggs and soaking for 24 hours is best.

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the quality of Etawah crossbreed (PE) spermatozoadiluted with a combination of tris diluent and various types of egg yolks. The researchmethod employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and sixreplications, consisting of (P1) 80% tris aminomethane + 20% commercial chicken egg yolk(KTR), (P2) 80% tris aminomethane + 20% local chicken egg yolk (KTK),and (P3) 80% trisaminomethane + 20% quail egg yolk (KTP). The observed daily qualities of PE spermatozoaincluded motility and viability until the motility reached 40%. The results showed that themotility of PE spermatozoa on day 4, P3 (40.00%) was significantly higher (P<0,05) than P1(25,83) and P2 (30,00). The viability of PE spermatozoa showed P3 (45.47%) wassignificantly higher (P<0,05) than P1 (34,65) and P2 (39,93). In conclusion that combinationof tris diluent and various types of egg yolks could maintain the quality of PE spermatozoa onday 3 above 40%, in accordance with the minimum motility requirments for spermatozoa asin SNI 486.3:2014, which is a minimum of 40%, suitable for use in artificial inseminationVol. 3 No. 1, Januari 2024 ISSN: 2442-7012Jurnal Penelitian Peternakan Lahan Basah 19programs. Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine whether the Punyakoti method can be used to detectpregnancy in goats by modifying the amount of distilled water (aquadest) added to goat urine toobserve growth inhibition in mung bean seeds. This study was designed using a CompletelyRandomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and six replications. The treatments involveddifferent concentrations of aquadest added to the urine: P1 (1:4), P2 (1:8), P3 (1:12), and P4(1:12) using urine from non-pregnant goats. The observed variables were the germination of eachseed and the length of the sprouts on the fifth day. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance(ANOVA), and if significant or highly significant differences were found, Duncan’s MultipleRange Test (DMRT) was applied. The ANOVA results showed a significant difference in the sprout length of mung beans due to the variation in goat urine and aquadest concentrations.Treatment P1 (2.36 cm) produced significantly shorter sprouts (P<0.05) compared to P2 (5.75cm), P3 (8.38 cm), and P4 (12.02 cm). The shorter sprout length in treatment P1 is likelyinfluenced by the higher concentration of urine diluted with aquadest. In treatment P4, mung beansprouts were longer, as this treatment used urine from non-pregnant goats. As a comparison, treatment P3, which used the same urine-to-aquadest ratio as P4, showed different sprout lengthsbecause the urine came from pregnant goats. This difference may be due to the higherconcentration of abscisic acid (ABA) in the urine of pregnant goats. Based on the results, it canbe concluded that the Punyakoti method can be used as an alternative method for detectingpregnancy in goats with 100% accuracy. The 1:4 concentration was the most effective, as itshowed the clearest growth inhibition compared to the 1:8 and 1:12 concentrations. Thisdemonstrates that different concentrations of aquadest affect the degree of growth inhibition inmung bean seeds

Abstract

Ultisol soil is characterized by very low organic matter content. The application offermented organic fertilizer can affect the growth of plants grown in ultisol soil. Thisstudy aims to determine the effect of the doses of fermented organic fertilizer on thegrowth of moringa seedling plants planted in ultisol soil. The study used a completelyrandomized design with five treatments and eight replications, using five levels offertilizer application: D0 (basic fertilizer/control), D1 (basic fertilizer + fermented organicfertilizer at 10 tons/ha), D2 (basic fertilizer + fermented organic fertilizer at 20 tons/ha),D3 (basic fertilizer + fermented organic fertilizer at 30 tons/ha), and D4 (basic fertilizer+ fermented organic fertilizer at 40 tons/ha). The observed variables included the time ofsprout emergence, the number of sprouts, plant height, and fresh leaf production. Dataanalysis was performed using analysis of variance, and if the treatment had a significanteffect, it was followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. Data analysis wasassisted by using SPSS Ver. 21 software. The results showed that none of the treatmentshad a significant effect (P>0.05), but there was a tendency for earlier sprout emergence(10.50 days) and more sprouts (6.13 sprouts) in the D2 treatment. In contrast, the slowestsprout emergence (14.00 days) and fewer sprouts (3.88 sprouts) in the D3 treatment.
