Abstract

This study explored an efficient method for extracting polysaccharides from Chlorella pyrenoidosa using microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) with water as the solvent, a technique consistent with green chemistry principles. The goal was to enhance the yield and quality of polysaccharides for their potential applications as multifunctional active ingredients in the pharmaceutical and functional food industries. Key extraction parameters, including extraction time (10, 20, and 30 min), temperature (80 °C), and solid-to-liquid ratios (1:20, 1:30, 1:40 m/v), were systematically evaluated. The results indicated that a solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:40 m/v at 80 °C for 10 min yielded the highest polysaccharide content (56.64%). FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of pyranose rings in D-glucose and hydroxyl groups, while HPLC identified D-mannose (58.12%) as the predominant sugar, followed by D-glucose (34.46%), D-galactose (3.61%), and L-rhamnose (3.81%). Purified polysaccharide was composed of major mannose and glucose, a biomolecule very important given that it has wide applications in medical and food industries.

Abstract

Abstract

Board of Education di Amerika Serikat.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Special Program (MIM SP) Kartasura, Sukoharjo District, Central Java with a focus on strengthening inclusive learning through the Adaptive Physical Education approach. The main issue faced by schools is the limitation of teachers in designing physical activities that are friendly to students with special needs, so assistance is needed to improve pedagogical competence while creating an equal learning atmosphere. The implementation method includes the stage of identifying needs, teacher training, designing adaptive physical learning models, and implementation and evaluation through direct practice in the classroom. A participatory approach is used so that teachers and students are actively involved in the learning process. The results of the mentoring showed an increase in teachers' understanding of the principles of adaptive physical education, the availability of varied and inclusive physical activity designs, and an increase in the involvement of students with special needs in physical activities. The program also fosters regular students' positive attitudes toward their peers with special needs. Thus, this service has succeeded in making a real contribution to strengthening inclusive learning practices in elementary schools through the optimization of adaptive physical education

Abstract

Developing an optimal catalyst formulation is a critical challenge in expanding sustainable ethylene production and utilization as a chemical intermediate product. Metal oxide impregnation (silver nitrate (AgNO3), cobalt nitrate (Co(NO3)2), and phosphotungstic acid (H3PW12O40)) was used to enhance the catalytic performance of HZSM-5 by increasing active sites and acidity. The preparation of the catalyst was performed by the impregnation of various metals and amounts of loading particles inside the pores of HZSM-5. The particles were impregnated by incipient wetness impregnation and followed by calcination to obtain Ag/HZSM-5, Co/HZSM-5, and W/HZSM-5 catalysts. Characterization techniques, including N2 adsorption-desorption, SEM, and XRD, were used to analyze the catalyst properties. Catalytic performance was evaluated in a packed-bed reactor under varying reaction conditions at WHSV 1.8 h-1. The aim of this research is to identify optimal catalyst formulations that exhibit superior activity in both conversion and selectivity towards ethylene production. Modified HZSM-5 catalysts incorporating Ag, Co, and W exhibited enhanced catalytic performance for bioethanol dehydration to bioethylene, attributed to optimized acidic sites, pore structure, and metal synergy. The 1%W/HZSM-5 catalyst demonstrated superior ethylene conversion (98.2%) and selectivity (99.88%) at 300 ℃. Increasing tungsten loading up to 2% impacted the conversion of bioethanol.
