Abstract

This paper aims to describe the shift in the circumcision tradition of girls in Kudus, Central Java. The focus of this shift discussion was mainly on the shift of circumcision done by Dukun Bayi (Traditional Midwife) to that done by a professional midwife, and the prevailing cultural shift is also illustrated. The data were collected through interviews with mothers of the circumcised girls through random sampling. This research is categorized as a case study. The collected data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the study revealed that the tradition of girl circumcision is a result of following a tradition that has been done for ages, the understanding of fiqh experts plays a role in the circumcision of girls. As the village midwife is serving childbirth, the circumcision that was initially done by a dukun now is done by professional midwives. The dukun played as a massage therapist to mothers with old pregnancy, also to the postpartum mothers and their babies. The knowledge that girls circumcision needs to be done by medical staff (midwives) will be more optimal if the village government facilitates the role of village midwives in Kudus. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pergeseran tradisi khitan anak perempuan di Kudus, Jawa Tengah. Faktor utama perubahan tersebut adalah munculnya pengkhitan bidan desa—yang sebelumnya dilakukan oleh dukun bayi—dan menggambarkan perubahan budayanya. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan ibu dari anak perempuan yang dikhitan secara random sampling. Riset ini kategori studi kasus, data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa tertradisinya mengkhitan akibat mengikuti tradisi, yakni pemahaman ahli fikih tentang khitan pada anak perempuan. Seiring adanya bidan desa yang melayani persalinan warga, maka pengkhitan yang semula dukun bayi ada yang dialihkan pada bidan desa. Dukun bayi diperankan sebagai tukang pijet pada ibu yang usia kandungannya menua dan memijat ibu pascamelahirkan beserta bayinya. Hal yang perlu dipahami agar mengkhitan anak perempuan dilakukan oleh tenaga medis (bidan) makin optimal bila peran bidan desa difasilitasi oleh pemerintah desa di Kudus.

Abstract

This paper is a qualitative research based on observation and interview among Samin community in Kudus. The purpose of this study is presenting unregistered marriage among Samin community. Samin community is the descendants and followers of Ki Samin Surosentiko, renowned for his nonconformity against the Dutch since 1840s. Following the teaching, Samin people do not registered their marriage and thus they do not feel necessary to obey the government regulation on the minimum age of marriage. The marriage among Samin community will be performed once a girl and a boy perceived to be ready. There are three stages of maturity: adam timur, adam brahi and wong sikep kukuh wali adam. This understanding may lead to child marriage and among its negative impact is divorce. The consequences of unregistered marriage go further to dispute of marital property, right of guardianship, and even conflict between relatives. Nowadays, some Samin people try to find a way to register their marriage in order to get a marriage certificate from the Office of Civil Administration of Kudus. Abstract

This paper aims to describe the existence of followers of the Baha'i religion in Cebolek Kidul, Margoyoso, Pati, Central Java. This lack of state and community recognition of the presence of followers of the Baha'i religion encourages them to preserve their existence by strengthening the interaction of fellow Baha'is with other interfaith fellows. Data of this paper was obtained by observing and doing in-depth interviews with the members of Baha'is. The results reveal that although Baha'i adherents have not yet received their rights as other recognized religious fellow in Indonesia, they maintain and preserve their existence by involving themselves in interfaith forums in the WhatsApp group. Their participation in the WhatsApp group becomes a medium for followers of other religions to understand Bahai teachings, follow information and dynamics of Baha'i, and provide a better understanding to the public about Baha'i religious teachings. As a consequence, Baha'i people in Cebolek Kidul feel close and become an inseparable part of their society.Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan eksistensi penganut agama Baha’i di Desa Cebolek Kidul, Kecamatan Margoyoso, Kabupaten Pati, Jawa Tengah. Kurangnya pengakuan negara dan masyarakat terhadap kehadiran para pemeluk agama Baha’i ini mendorong mereka untuk berupaya menjaga eksistensi dengan mengokohkan interaksi sesama pemeluk Baha’i dengan umat lintas agama lain. Upaya ini mereka lakukan melalui pengelolaan jaringan via grup WhatsApp (WA). Data diperoleh dengan observasi dan wawancara mendalam terhadap umat Baha’i. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa meskipun pemeluk agama Baha’i belum mendapatkan haknya sebagai umat beragama di Indonesia, namun mereka menjaga eksistensi mereka dengan melibatkan diri dalam forum lintas agama di grup Whatsapp. Keikutsertaan ini menjadi media bagi pemeluk agama lain untuk memahami ajaran Bahai, mengikuti informasi dan dinamika Baha’i, serta memberi pemahaman pada publik tentang ajaran agama Baha’i. Sehingga secara tidak langsung, umat Baha’i merasa dekat dan menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari masyarakat mereka.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memahami strategi dakwah dan untuk memetakan apa saja yang dapat berperan sebagai da’i bagi komunitas Samin, serta mendalami kendala apa saja yang dialami da’i dalam berdakwah terhadap komunitas Samin di Kudus dengan menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dan data diperoleh dengan wawancara, observasi, serta telaah literatur dianalisis dengan secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) strategi da’i  yang dilakukan dalam melakukan dakwah pada komunitas samin ada empat kegiatan dakwah yaitu tabligh dan taklim, Irsyad, Tathwir (pembangunan masyarakat), Tadbir (manajemen pemberdayaan masyarakat). (2) Komunitas Samin dalam memegangi ajaran Saminisme ada yang teguh dan ada yang tidak teguh. Bagi yang teguh, tetap beragama Adam, sedangkan yang tak teguh terjadi konversi menjadi muslim

Abstract

This article describes the symbolic meaning of Luwur (a covering cloth) of the grave of Sunan Kudus, the first preacher of Kudus in the annual tradition of Buka Luwur (replacement with new Luwur every month of Muharam/Sura). The tradition is performed by the Foundation Administrator of Mosque, Menara, and Sunan Kudus Grave (YM3SK) together with the residents of Kauman, Kudus, Central Java. The data of this study were obtained from observation, interview, and reference investigation with a qualitative descriptive analysis. The research result showed that the luwur of Sunan Kudus grave behind al-Aqsha Menara Mosque assigns various symbolic meanings. The event of Buka Luwur tradition is performed in every first to tenth of Sura/Muharam month, through the distribution of Asura porridge and jangkrik rice to the residents of Kauman village, Islamic art performance, learning about Islamic New Year (Muharram), and replacement of the old Luwur with the new one. The motif of Luwur consists of jasmine, unthuk banyu, kompol, and wiru, which symbolize honor to Sunan Kudus. The tradition has been conserved to honor the traces of dakwah of Sunan Kudus. Artikel ini menjelaskan makna simbolis dari Luwur makam Sunan Kudus, da'i pertama di Kudus dalam tradisi tahunan Buka Luwur (penggantian Luwur baru setiap bulan Muharam/Sura). Tradisi tersebut dilakukan oleh Pengurus Yayasan Masjid, Menara, dan Makam Sunan Kudus (YM3SK) bersama warga Desa Kauman, Kecamatan Kota, Kudus, Jawa Tengah. Data penelitian ini berasal dari observasi, wawancara dan investigasi referensi dengan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Luwur makam Sunan Kudus di belakang Masjid Al-Aqsha Menara memiliki berbagai makna simbolis. Rangkaian acara tradisi Buka Luwur dilakukan setiap bulan Sura/Muharam pertama hingga kesepuluh, yaitu pembagian bubur Asura dan nasi jangkrik kepada warga desa Kauman, pertunjukan atraksi Seni Islam, program pengajaran Tahun Baru Islam (Muharram), dan penggantian Luwur lama dengan yang baru. Motif Luwur terdiri dari melati, unthuk banyu, kompol, dan wiru, yang memiliki makna simbolis penghormatan terhadap Sunan Kudus. Tradisi tersebut dilestarikan untuk menghormati jejak-jejak dakwah Sunan Kudus.

Abstract

This article to description Adam religion and worship Samin community in Region Kudus Central Java. This research data was descriptive analysis a by interview, participatory observation, and literature review. Data collection was analysed using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was observation and literature. Public research aim gets rid of stigma as a dissident, ateis, poor. By understanding about Samin realize tolerance. Result, word ‘Adam’ for Samin is prime god creatures. Religious Adam teachings semedi, pray, fasting, and manifested in life wisdom. A place of worship in home (sanggar pamujan), best time of worship at midnight time. Obedience and disobedience dependents personally. Adam religions by government is indigenous religions. The teachings by oral traditions. Basic problem fased Samin community is poor not be a farmer anymore especially young children, not united and disagree between Samin the impact of understanding the teachings said inherit need a middle ground between Samin the attempts to argue for government watch out for.

Abstract

The purpose of writing is analyzing the needs to be formed immediately National Commision Disability by the state. The effect has not yet been formed, constitution implementation not well implemented by organizer library, government offices and campus library in Kudus city, central Java. The data are obtained from literature review of written materials on library and Law No 8 of 2016 on People with Disabilities, Law No 14 of 2008 on the Openness of Public Information, and Law No 43 of 2017 onLibraries. Data were analyzed in descriptive qualitative method. Library as a public space should provide facilities people with disabilities. However, the implementation of the Law on People with Disability is difficult because the supporting instruments including 8 government regulations (PP), 2 presidential regulations (Perpres), Minister of Social affairs; regulation (Permensos), and the National Disability Commission has not yet been realized. Once the supporting regulations are established, then the Openness of Public Information Act is also implemented. It is our task to guard the establishment of the Laws and regulations. National Commission Disability urgently formed.

Abstract

This article discussed the goal of impact keris for Samin pioneer (botoh). Data collection done by interview, observation, and literature was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. As the result, Keris is magical objects owned by a certain person in between pioneer Samin in Kudus inheritance from ancestors. Ancestral pioneer Samin message Keris to help by magic treatment and stay a way from arrogant nature. Keris encourage to be brave in their dynamic life. Negative effect came from it if not well controlled will make the owner have an arrogant habit. There are value on the benefits at keris as medium traditional treatment for Samin community.

Abstract

Human rights is the right of every one is right education. This paper observes the right of children of Samin community in Kudus especially in the field of education. Samin community is chosen for its uniqueness in maintaining their anchestor’s teaching not to go to formal school, as a way of resistance against the Dutch colonial government, despite the fact that today some of Samin community go to school and obey government regulation. The main focus of this research is the realization Government Regulation Kudus (Perda) to the required learning 12 years. Method of collecting data conducted through literature, interview, and direct observation in the field. The analysis data used is qualitative descriptive. the results of the research are (1) the required learning 12 years for community Samin did not happen, (2) Persuasive approach is important to encourage Samin community to send their children to formal education as stated by Government Regulation (PP) No 48 Year 2008 Article 15 (1), (2), and (3) Government Regulation Kudus (Perda) to the required learning 12 years must be evaluated by Ombudsman Commision.

Abstract

This article describes the changes in lifestyle Samin community in Kudus Central Java. Data collection by interview, observation, and literature was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. Result, Samin is Javanese ethnic community the originally driven by Ki Samin Surosentiko against invaders in Blora, Central Java. Its existence extends to city Kudus, Central Java until now. Samin community in Kudus changes in lifestyle. The result (1) follow a lifestyle now and (2) become urban worker, and (3) some are no longer farmers. This is due to fulfilling a lifestyle consequently experienced degradation quantity and quality. Triggered by don’t understand the teachings Samin, don’t identity Samin.
