Abstract

In the Indonesian economy, the oil palm commodity plays a pretty bright role because it serves as a source of foreign exchange. The need to develop technology in producing superior seeds. In this study discuss about the Influence of Giving Fertilizer and Mikoriza Against the Growth of Palm Oil Plants (Elaeis guineensis jacq.) In Pre-Nursery Nursery. This study aims to determine the effect of manure and mycorrhizal fertilization as well as its interaction on the growth of coconut plants in pre-nursery nurseries. The study was designed by Factorial Randomized Block Design consisting of 2 treatment factors. The first factor of treatment of manure (K) consisting of 4 levels, namely: K0 = 0 kg / polybag, K1 = 0.15 kg / polybag, K2 = 0.30 kg / polybag, and K3 = 0.45 kg/polybag. The second factor of mycorrhizal treatment (M) consisting of 4 levels, namely: M1 = 12.5 g/polybag, M2 = 25.0 g/polybag, M3 = 37.5 g / polybag. The results showed that the treatment of cow manure up to 0.45 kg/polybag can increase the height of seedlings, stem diameter, total leaf area, wet weight of seedlings and dry weight of seedlings, but did not affect the number of oil palm seedlings.Mikoriza treatment up to 37, 5 g / polybags can increase seed height, stem diameter, total leaf area, wet weight of seedlings and dry weight of seedlings, but have no significant effect on the number of oil palm seedlings. The interaction between cow manure and mycorrhiza had no effect on all parameters observed.

Abstract

Pelatihan penerapan teknologi pemanfaatan limbah pelepah kelapa sawit sebagai media tanam jamur tiram pada masyarakat Desa Sampali merupakan salah satu metode transfer/alih teknologi tepat guna yang diterapkan oleh Universitas Medan Area. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah membantu masyarakat untuk meningkatkan pendapatan, meningkatkan gizi, memperbaiki lingkungan dengan mengurangi limbah organik, dan memberikan kesempatan kerja kepada pemuda setempat. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan teknis pada kelompok masyarakat Sampali dengan transfer teknologi berupa pembuatan kumbung (rumah jamur), pencincangan pelepah kelapa sawit menjadi serbuk berukuran 10 mes, pembuatan baglog, dan pembuatan demplot budi daya jamur tiram dengan media serbuk pelepah sawit. Hasil dari program pelatihan ini adalah(a) pemanfaatan pelepah sawit yang awalnya limbah menjadi media tanam alternatif untuk tanaman jamur tiram dan (b) bertambahnya pengetahuan masyarakat perihal budi daya jamur menggunakan media selain serbuk kayu yang semakin sulit diperoleh. Pelatihan dan pendampingan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan gizi masyarakat dengan pemanfaatan limbah pelepah sawit sebagai media tanam jamur tiram dan meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat.

Abstract

Tebal kulit disadap, kedalaman sadap, panjang alur sadap, frekuensi sadap, dan waktu sadap harus dipertimbangkan dalam penyadapan pohon karet. Perencanaan penggunaan bidang sadap penting untuk menjamin periode sadap yang  panjang, lebih dari 25 tahun. Pada perkebunan karet rakyat hal tersebut tidak dianut. Oleh karena itu, penyuluhan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan petani diperlukan. Penelitian ini menyajikan aspek agronomi  perkebunan karet rakyat yang menunjukkan rendahnya produksi dan beberapa aspek penyuluhan yang diperlukan petani karet. Penelitian dilakukan melalui survei dan tanya jawab pada Juni-Juli 2019 di Desa Sari Laba Jahe, Kecamatan Biru-Biru, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Kelompok yang disurvei adalah Kelompok Tani Mekar Tani yang beranggota 30 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengamatan kebun karet masing-masing petani dan tanya jawab untuk memperoleh data serta informasi, berkaitan dengan aspek agronomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani karet belum menghasilkan produksi ideal, 26,67% petani menghasilkan kurang dari 25 g per pohon per sadap. Sebanyak 17 petani mengelola kebun seluas kurang dari 1 ha dan 1-1,5 ha mengelola kurang dari 500 pohon per ha. Sebanyak 46% petani berpendapat bahwa masalah yang dihadapi dalam mengelola kebun karetnya adalah penyakit jamur akar putih (JAP).

Abstract

Abstrak: Pengelolaan limbah ikan dari pengolahan ikan asin atau tawar saat ini hanya di buang dan di timbun begitu saja sehingga menimbulkan bau kurang enak dan dapat mengganggu kesehatan masyarakat sekitar. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pengolahan limbah ikan menjadi pakan ternak yang memiliki nilai ekonomis sehingga berpotensi menjadi suatu unit usaha baru bagi masyarakat. Kegiatan ini terdiri atas 4 tahap yang meliputi persiapan, pelatihan online 1 dan 2, serta evaluasi program. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan secara daring menggunakan aplikasi Zoom Meeting Online. Pelaksanaan program ini sangat bermanfaat bagi mitra sasaran dan telah meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mitra dalam mengolah limbah ikan yang setiap hari dihasilkan menjadi suatu pakan ternak. Pengolahan limbah ikan menjadi pakan ternak dapat menjadi alternatif unit usaha baru yang dapat meningkatkan penghasilan terutama bagi pemuda yang terkena PHK akibat pandemi dan bagi ibu rumah tangga yang ingin mendapatkan pemasukkan tambahan.Abstract: Management of fish waste from salted or fresh fish processing is currently only being thrown away and piled up, causing a bad smell and can disturb the health of the surrounding community. This program aims to improve knowledge and skills in processing fish waste into the animal feed, which has economic value so that it has the potential to become a new business unit for the community. This activity consists of 4 steps, including preparation, online training 1 and 2, and program evaluation. All of the activities are carried out online using the Zoom Meeting Online application. This program is beneficial for the community and has increased the knowledge in processing fish waste into animal feed. Furthermore, it could be an alternative to new business units that can increase income, especially for youth who have been laid off due to the pandemic and housewives who want additional income.

Abstract

This research was aiming to find out whether the application of biochar palm kernel shell and mushroom baglog waste. The research was conducted by using the Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 2 treatment factors. The first factor was the biochar of the palm kernel shell  and The second factor was the mushroom baglog waste which. The result of this research showed that the treatment of  giving biochar to brown rice in rubber plantation had a real effect on the growth of the plant height in the age of 6 MSPT and the weight of production of sample crop and didn’t have a real effect on the production weight per plot, number of tillers, number of panicles of sample crop and the amount of 1000 grains of brown rice. The treatment of giving oyster mushroom baglog tp brown rice in rubber plantation had a real effect on the production of the rice per plot, and the production weight of sample crop and didn’t have a real effect on the growth of the number of the tillers, number of panicles of sample crops, and amount of 1000 grains of brown rice. The combination of both  factors  didn’t  have  a  real  effect  on  the  growth  and  the production of brown rice.

Abstract

The demand of oyster mushroom has increased. Hence the production should be improved as well. The purpose of research is to know the growth response and production of several varieties of oyster mushroom on the powder media of palm stem waste and sawdust. Research conducted in Sumatra mushroom oyster cultivation. The design used in this study is a Complete Random Design (CRD) factorial that is of 2 factors. The first factor is the composition of the planting media of palm oil and sawdust was conducted with 2 repeats. The Parameter of observation on the study is the percentage of baglogs covered by mycelium (%), the growth of mycelium on the substrate (cm), the age of the body of the fruit (DAI), Number of fruit body (fruit), diameter of the hood (cm2) The stem length of the fruit body (cm) and the wet Harvest weight (g). The results showed that the best treatment for the growth of mycelium and the age of fruit body in total saw dust amd and varieties jamur tiram 58.38 days formation of the first fruit body.

Abstract

The research was conducted in farm experiment faculty of agriculture, the University of Medan Area The research was done by using the method of random designs that the group 's group (RAK) are composed of two treatment factors, those are: 1) Mixed of baglog compostwith cows manure (notation B) 2) Organic fertilizer, liquid waste of palm(notation K) consisting of 4 treatments, are Ko= without treatment, K1=liquid waste 50 ml/l/plants, K2=chemicals 75ml/l/plants, K3= liquid waste 100 ml/l/plants. Every treatment repeated as much as two times. The parameters in this study is focus on the diameter of steam (cm), flowering age (day), total of pods/plants (fruits), long pods/plants (cm), thick/ plants (g), and production/plot (kg). The conclusion of this study as follows: 1) giving the mixed Baglog compost with cows manure had no real effects to the diameter of steam, total pods per plants, long pods/plants, thick and plants, and productions/plot but it had real effects to flowering age. 2) giving thePOC liquid waste ofpalms had the real effects to the diameter of steam 5 MST ages, flowering age, total pods per plants, long pods per plants, thick per plants, and production. And 3) the combination both of factors had real effects to long pods per plants, and production per plot, but had no real effects to the others parameters.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of growth and production of sweet corn plants to the application of modified SP-50 biochar and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). The design used was Factorial RAK which consisted of 2 treatment factors, namely: (1) Biochar SP-50 (B)     consisted of 3 levels, B0 = Without Biochar, B1 = Dose 10 tons/ha, B2 = dose 20 tons/ha. (2) PGPR (P) consists of 4 levels, treatment P0 = No PGPR, P1 = PGPR concentration of 1%, P2 = PGPR concentration of 2%, P3 = PGPR concentration of 3%. The results of this study showed that the application of Biochar SP-50 had a significant effect on stem diameter, number of leaves, weight of cobs with cocob per plot, weight of cobs without cob per plot, and a very significant effect on the number of seed rows. The best treatment is giving SP-50 biochar as much as 20 tons/ha. The provision of PGPR did not significantly affect the growth and production of sweet corn plants but gave a positive effect with the best concentrations of 1% and 3%. The combination of Biochar SP-50 and PGPR had a significant effect on plant height, cob weight with cob per sample and cob weight without cob per sample. The best treatment was giving Biochar SP-50 at a dose of 20 tons/ha and PGPR with a concentration of 3%.

Abstract

The effort of Indonesian people to fulfill their protein intake in an economically accessible way is by producing and consuming oyster mushrooms, because their protein content was viable as an alternative to animal-based products. Combination of sugarcane bagasse, palm fronds (PKS), and sawdust can be used as growing medium for oyster mushrooms. The aim of this study was: (1) to analyze the change in the pH of the combination media formulation of Palm Oil Frond Waste (PKS), sugarcane bagasse, and sawdust; (2) identifying the composition of nutrients in the aforementioned agricultural waste as a growing medium for oyster mushroom. This study was composed of two steps: 1) Preparing the composition of the growing medium from agricultural waste; and 2) Analyzing nutrient composition of the growing medium of oyster mushroom. The research was conducted by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with a Non-Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RAL). The combination of oyster mushroom growing medium from palm fronds, sugarcane bagasse, and sawdust has different pH levels and nutritional contents. The combination of M0 – M8 oyster mushroom growing medium has the suitable level of pH to grow the mushrooms at 6,5 – 8,0 pH. From the formulation analysis of nutrient in the combination of M0 – M8, it can be used as a reference for the nutrient content of oyster mushrooms growing medium from palm fronds and sugarcane bagasse.
