Abstract

The development of a language is not free from the influences of other languages. For example, as an official language, Indonesian language used by Indonesians, is not free from the influences of other languages, either local languages such as  Javanese language and Sundaness language or  foreign ones such as English and Arabic.It is within this context that this article aims at discussing contribution of  Arabic  to the development of Indonesian language.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and classify the types of topic of compliments, the functions and the compliment responses conveyed by the Indonesian and American. The data in this study were taken from each of the two films, namely; "Kapan Kawin?" and “Garuda di Dadaku" from the Indonesians and “Modern Family "and Pixels" from the Americans. The method used in analyzing this research is descriptive qualitative and quantitative method. The data for this study were collected using ethnographic analyzing by Manes and Wolfson (1980) and Janet Holmes (1986). The analysis is exploring the features of distribution of giving compliments, functions, and responses for Indonesian and American. The discussion of data begins with watching the movie, writing the transcripts dialogs that contains of compliments and compliment responses used in the movie. The result of this study shows that there is a difference equation signs and similarity of compliment and compliment responses are used by the people of Indonesia and American. In which can be seen from the percentage of the use of compliments and compliment responses strategy used by both countries. The compliment topics used by Indonesian and American complimenters show a strong preference for ability/skill and personality over appearance and possessions. In the tables shown that American used 225 compliments and compliment responses while Indonesian used 146 compliments and compliment responses. Americans are more often give compliments and compliment responses rather than Indonesian. It was clear evident that generally Americans are more frequently to produce compliments and compliment responses rather than Indonesian. This different can be cause of the culture and habit that influence both of the countries. The researcher hopes that this research gives a contribution to the teachers and students in teaching and learning of speech act of compliments especially in terms of sociolinguistic.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explore the using of addressing system on their name in Bima society based on their social status in their social interaction. This study focusing on specific detail of addressing system name using around the social class of (suku mbojo) Bimaness  (e.g. Dae, dae, Ruma, Muma, Papi, Uma, Ince, Lalu, Lala, Rato, Tati, Teta, Dade, Tato, Uba, Pua, and Ama Ka’u dan Ina Ka’u). Those names have constructed their status in social interaction based on their relatives and kingdom’s breeds. The writer using library research based on the data found on the resources. In collecting the data focus only at Suku mbojo (Bima-Dompu) society. In conclusion the data result there are 17 addressing system using by Suku mbojo in their social life.

Abstract

Every being has individuality or self. Degree elevation on every being in nature depending on the level of development of each individuality. The criteria for determining the quality of every being is how far he can live up to himself effectively. Individuality is the distinguishing mark in the concept of Khudi or Iqbal ego. Iqbal's philosophy about Khudi ends on his thoughts about the insan kamil, the ideal man. Insan kamil is the highest level that can be achieved not by way of meditation, but with an original creative work, which is lawful overwhelmed by love or ishq, firmness self or faqr, courage and tolerance. Achieve this through three phases: obedience to God, self-control and the caliphate of God.

Abstract

Religion is a bond, a doctrine for humans for the sake of peace of life, while anxiety is a barren soul of truth. Someone who does not find his identity makes his life uncertain. In this context, Seyyed Hossein Nasr reveals that the truth of religion is demand, instructions with the using of perennial philosophy. Truth always perceives itself the best, eternity that never ends. Essence or authenticity is another form of the existence of God.The essence of religion is fitrah that is inseparable from God's truth as a source of truth. Authenticity is an essential truth, always connected with the Creator, religion must be sourced from the Enormous.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the partial and simultaneous influence of service quality on library user satisfaction level at the Library Technical Implementation Unit of Tadulako University. The type of this study was explanatory research based on survey approach. This study was carried out at the Library Technical Implementation Unit of Tadulako University. The variables studied were the independent variable of service quality with its five dimensions, namely tangible, reliability, responsivenes, assurance dan empathy; and the dependent variable of user satisfaction level. The samples of this study amounted to 125 respondents of 14.285 population members with random sampling method. The analysis method used was descriptive verificative method using multiple linear regression analysis.The results showed that the dimensions of tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy simultaneously had significant influence on library user satisfaction level, with the value of Fcount was 33.990at sig. 0.000; the five dimensions had been influencing each other and together contributed library user satisfaction level with different influence levels. Partially, all the dimensions had influence on user satisfaction level with their own relation level cathegories, respectively the dimension of assurance had “strong” relation level, the dimensions of tangible and responsivenes had “middle” relation level, and the dimensions of reliability and empathy had “very low” relation level. Therefore, the amount of service quality influence on library user satisfaction level was determined by the dimensions of tangible, reliability, responsivenes, assurance, andempathy. Meanwhile, the value of R = 0,767meant that the model shaped in this study explained that the contribution of tangible, realibility, responsevenes, assurance, and empathy’s influence on satisfaction level of library users when using Tadulako University Library amounted to 76.70% and the rest 23.30% was owned by other variables outside this study. Based on the results, it was advised that in the effort of service quality improvement, the Library needs to notice the dimensions of reliability (x2) and empathy (x5). To other researchers interested in the other factors relating to libary user satisfaction level, there is still 23.30% of other variables.

Abstract

The advent of Islam in the archipelago in the 7th century has given a positive impact on the development of many fields of life. One of them is the development of Malaya literature in this area. Ar-Raniri, a great ulama of Aceh sultanate, serves as one of Muslim poets who, in 1638 B.C., wrote not only works on Islam but also on a work of Malaya literature, that is Bustan al-Salatin (Garden of Kings). This work was written by him because of Sultan Iskandar Sani’s order. Another work of Malaya literature can be mentioned here is Taj al-Salatin (Crown of Kings) written by Bukhari al-Jauhari in 1603 B.C. Centers for Malaya literature in the archipelago are Aceh, Malacca, and Johor-Riau.                      Kata Kunci: Islam, sastra Melayu klasik

Abstract

The essence of democracy is justice and equality in all aspects of life, including rights as the individual, citizen, and the God’s creatures. The plurality of God’s creatures is a part of natural law, which is called multiculturalism. Cultural pluralism is not separated from democracy. Democracy is a system of state which is regulated constitutionally and legitimizes all interests and rights of the individuals.
