Abstract

Kali Jagir is located in Wonokromo District with a total population of 146,785 inhabitants. 24% of land use in the Wonokromo area is a residential area that disposes of domestic waste such as garbage, laundry waste, and other waste into the Surabaya River stream either directly or indirectly. Disposal of domestic waste from residential areas around the Jagir River results in a decrease in water quality, as well as a decrease in the function of the river, and an increase in the pollutant load that will be received by the river. The method used is descriptive quantitative research method. The water sampling point was determined using the purposive sampling method. The data used is primary data from researchers who have conducted quality analysis at three points of Kali Jagir in 2021. Based on the results, the pollution load value of Kali Jagir Surabaya has exceeded the maximum pollution load capacity that can be accepted by water bodies. Total pollution load in Kali Jagir Surabaya based on TSS parameter is 12,360,924.86 kg/day, BOD parameter is 259,169.08 kg/day, and COD parameter is 6,455,103.32 kg/day.

Abstract

Poultry farm is one of the important sectors in meeting human needs for animal protein, but it was not correlated with the availability of poultry meats due to their limited production. In order to provide an adequate source of animal protein, especially in Garut Regency, the initiator plans to develop the poultry farm located in Sirnagalih Village, Garut Regency. It is necessary to build environmentally friendly poultry farms that implement sustainable development. This study analyzes the environmental impact of poultry farm in accordance with sustainable development. This study aims to analyze the environmental impact of “Sirnagalih Poultry Farm” in Garut Regency as an Environmentally Friendly Poultry Farm. The research was conducted by using quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. Quantitative analysis was used to analyse land use, water concumption, poulty manure and poultry carcass. The qualitative descriptive analysis explains the environmental management. Based on land use analysis, the BSC (Basic Structural Coefficient) is 65.92% consisting of poultry buildings, feed warehouses and supporting facilities. The GBC (Green Basic Coefficient) is 16.42%. Wastewater from poulty farm can be treated by a wastewater treatment plant. Animal manure waste can be managed by composting, while poultry carcass management and green open space can refer to Government Regulations.

Abstract

Kemambang River is located in Buduran Sub-district, Sidoarjo and plays an important role in the hydrological cycle and the lives of the surrounding community. Buduran sub-district is one of the sub-districts with high population growth. The number of industries, housing, agriculture around Kemambang River can reduce the water quality of Kemambang River. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the water quality of Kemambang River based on chemical physical parameters and macroinvertebrates as bioindicators of water quality. The research used descriptive quantitative method by conducting water sampling in 3 (three) locations, laboratory tests and analyzing physico-chemical parameters (DO, TSS, BOD, and COD) based on PP 22 Year 2021 class II quality standards and biomonitoring analysis using Family Biotic Index (FBI). The results of the physico-chemical parameter analysis showed that the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) parameter exceeded the quality standard at all research locations with the highest value at point 3 with a value of 7.10 mg/L (BOD quality standard of 3 mg/L). Dissolved Oxygen (DO) did not meet the quality standards at points 2 and 3 with the lowest value at point 3 with a value of 2.68 mg/L (minimum DO quality standard of 4 mg/L). While the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Suspended Solid (TSS) parameters still met the quality standards at all points. Based on the FBI calculation, point 1 produced a value of 7.20 and was included in the "poor" criteria, while points 2 and 3 with values of 5.32 and 5.40 were classified as "fair" criteria. It concluded that there were significant and very significant amounts of organic pollutants in the waters. This study illustrates the need for urgent action to improve water quality in Kemambang River.
